I have been wanting to review this book for a while, but due to the circumstances surrounding its publication and pulling it off the shelves I wanted to truly take time to absorb its contents and research its legitimacy.

First, I would like to preface this with my own credentials: I have been reviewing books since 2013, I am a librarian, a closet writer, an herbalist, a forager, and teach foraging classes to families. I am NOT a medical doctor, health practition

2.5 stars. I am so conflicted with this book. If you like Kinfolk magazine, you'll love the photos of the unattainable crunchy lifestyle strewn upon these pages. I am not a fan, but the recipes made me look past this. (There are some good plates here that I am excited to try, but I have yet to test them out.)

It was offputting to see, what are basically "sponsored posts" in print format. I had no idea this person had a blog or who they were before I picked-up the cookbook; had I know, I probably

The book is a delight to read. It is not a not an in depth foragers encyclopedia, It is exactly what it states it is in the title "the ultimate field guide to evoke curiosity and wonderment" and that it does. Recipes will not kill you as some have ranted on about. True not properly handling and preparing raw foraged food can make you sick but so does foraging prepackaged foods at the the supermarket. And yes some preparation and and safe handling precautions are understated. But it's a double st ...more

I can't believe this is being sold still, you should not be eating raw elderberries, or morels for that matter.
Pretty picture though.

I found the poor editing of this book to be distracting; however, the photography and personal stories were charming enough to keep me engaged.

I love this book. To this day its one of my favorites. Yes there were some errors. But I believe that when you forage for your own food, it is your responsibility to do your research. She was also very clear that she was just a mom that likes to forage for her own food. That being said, the book is so beautiful. The recipes are simple, delicious and unique.
