7/26/2023 - Lots of great information! Several bugs I’d never heard of, so I enjoyed learning along with my daughter.

A bit long for my daughter at this age but I certainly enjoyed it. I love bugs!

It’s amazing how much adults can learn from a children’s book.

There is a lot of information packed into this little board book about bugs. Though the illustrations are the main appeal for toddlers, preschoolers and even early elementary schoolers can learn a lot of fun insect trivia from reading the text. My five-year-old likes to read this book aloud to her younger sisters, which is a nice experience for all of them.

This board book was okay, but not everything that I was hoping it would be. I was hoping it would be more informative. Each page had at most one sort of interesting fact about the bug that was listed. I thought the collage style font that was part of the book was confusing and unintuitive to read. There were some interesting choices for bugs.
My favorite pages were the one about the ladybug and the one about the praying mantis.
I wanted each page to have more information about the bugs and also more words that started with the letter that it was based on, which I did not really get.
As a beginner book though, it does okay.

My kids really enjoy this book. They like trying to identify each letter and corresponding bug. It’s a good book for young readers to get acquainted with a variety of bugs, and as an adult I like the sort of theme of an antique primer written by an old English lady, ha. The take away is that “bugs are our friends”, which is nice enough, but we know not true 100% of the time. I do think it is good in general to keep kids from becoming afraid of all bugs! My chief complaint is that the style chosen for the letters makes it so that some are almost impossible to identity for young kids. Some are in script, some are a partially filled in block style, etc. I think it greatly takes away from the use as an alphabet book, obviously geared towards young children because it is a board book. I like the illustrations but aesthetic shouldn’t trump functionality.

June 26, 2021The entire Mrs. Peanuckle's ____ Alphabet series has been constantly requested since our baby was 8 months old. The bright colors and flat illustrations captivate him and he has even been learning the letters. I have learned bits and pieces of trivia about the various topics covered by Mrs. Peanuckle too.
My husband and I enjoy trying to figure out exactly who is "Mrs. Peanuckle" and what is her character. So far these are the personal details we have gleaned: She has eaten toxic berries as a young girl; she frequently lists Australian species therefore she may be Australian trying to write for an American market.

Lots of Kids books gonna be on this feed in the next few years since I'm Daddin' hard so be warned
Still kinda hard to pin down just what makes these Mrs. Peanuckle books so great. I love the occasional scientific facts, but I'd be lying if I neglected how wonderful the slightly whimsical tone is too.

I didn't know ants could live up to 30 years or that grasshoppers can hop 3 ft at a time. I met some new butterflies and moths in this book and recommend this along with all the other alphabet books in the Peanuckle series. The D and the P were in block formations that weren't great for letter identification, but the illustrations and style were otherwise great.

From ant to zorapteran and everything in between. Mrs. Peanuckle’s Bug Book is a fun and vibrant book for toddlers. Youngsters will be amazed by the interesting facts about each bug. Did you know that a praying mantis can eat a frog? Or a rhinoceros beetle is the strongest insect? Reviewer#1

Love these books! We have a small garden this year, and we are involving our little girl right away. This will help her notice things in the garden, even though she is really little. Eventually it will be nice to have them all.

My mama loved this and even learned a few things. The illustrations and text were too much for me at 4 months old. This might be one I need to come back to when I'm older. I'll revise my review then.

Totally beautiful and illustrated in such a fun way! It's a bit wordy for my tastes, but since I downsized storytimes from 3 to 2 books, this could work. I like how she included 1 extinct species of insect to bring that up. This was a fun board book!

Perfect foryoung entomologists or those who are interested in learning about insects. Mrs. Peanuckle’s Bug Alphabet is a great choice for a story time or an introduction to a study of bugs. Readers will learn facts about bugs from A to Z. Highly recommended.

A bit wordy, but the illustrations are bright and fun. For very young children I would probably skip the additional text and just focus on the alphabet and pictures.

The alphabet of bugs is appealing. The definition and large amount of text on each board page makes this best for older toddlers. Lots of great facts but might be too much for some kids.

I'm so grateful my four-year-old found the Mrs. Peanuckle board book series from the library. With great illustations and informative text, these books are great for my toddler and preschooler (and 2nd grader) alike.

We loved this book! Even though my son is probably a little small for all the bug facts, he loved looked at the pictures and pointing out each letter. It's definitely a book we can grow with.

Enjoyed it. Had to check a few facts. Learned a little.

Very nice collection of bugs. Learned about one that's extinct. The art is nice but again the font of the print isn't my favorite. Still I will gift this book.
