This is the book I'll come back to, should I need a macrame reference book! I've perused quite a few this spring and this is truly the only how-to which has instructions that actually make sense. Photography is clear and step by step, so I think it'd be good for beginners. Others I've found tend to prioritize dreamy, Instagrammable photography at the expense of actually helping the reader figure out how to make these lovely fiber arts projects. I'm a fan!
I have been crafting many projects for years, my business is crafting. I have never done macrame before so I gave this a shot. I chose the beginner level pillow aurora. It was fine for the first basic part but as soon as it went into the next step it became very complicated. My husband and I spent about 5 hours trying to figure out the next step. We got through 2 movies... murder mystery and magnolia trying to figure out this one step. Tying and untying and trying different ways to get it like the book. It is very poorly explained and the knots she says are called the weave knot do not match any youtubers weave knot. So I had to give up and make up what to do the rest of the way. Do not buy this book if you are a beginner.

Some lovely patterns but unfortunately she’s used white cord photographed on white walls. In the majority of photos it’s impossible to see the knots. I found this frustrating. Additionally many of the measurements are in cm instead of feet or yards which made no sense to me and required conversion.
