Sometimes I need the wisdom from others to help me see where my feet are walking. Scannell's book seemed like a guiding voice. She uses ten different qualities that can help in times of distress: Mindfulness, Courage & Perseverance, Flexibility, Reframing, Creativity, Realistic Optimism & Hope, Physical Activity, and Spirituality. I think she could have easily inserted one more: Humor & Laughter. But you get the picture.

She references several books and articles as well as numerous anecdotal stories of people who have encountered enormous obstacles, who have visited the "swampland," and pulled through it using any combination of qualities. Even though this is a short book, I read it slowly, savoring each chapter for its merits.

Ultimately, very helpful reading.
