I read this book via an Amazon-US KINDLE Unlimited download.

Who was the person that taught you how to pray as a child? Wasn’t it your mother? Of course, it was. But going back to her as an adult might prove to be somewhat of an embarrassment; it’s an embarrassment you probably don’t want to face, because how could you have forgotten an important thing like this.

The truth be told, I can imagine that with the harried many of us have had to deal with, some things got pushed further and further BACK on the gas burners until they’ve become so hard to reach, we’ve forgotten about them.

In her book, the author, Deborah Perkins, wants her readers to understand that their predicament of now not knowing how to prayer as adults is not unique by any means. And although she might basically accept this situation, she wants to transform those afflicted by it to be able to return to the flock and to start praying anew.

Her tactics in making this a reality is to guide her readers to this end by combining her own life experiences with those that the bible communicates through its pages. Ms. Perkins knows her readers will have questions as they learn how to prayer again, basic questions like: How do I know God is listening to my prayers and if/when he’s answering me?
How do I find the time to pray with the hectic daily schedule I’ve got each day? Questions she tries to deal with the pages of this book.

They say that patience is a virtue which through time will make things happen, like being able to prayer again with the passion you once had. So, for having given her readers this guide so they can once again become an active, committed prayer soldier, I’ve given this book 5 STARS.

I received the Kindle edition of this book through Goodreads Giveaway...thank you!

This was a quick, to the point read on prayer. It took me an hour to read and it hit on some really good reminders. I especially appreciated the reminder that as we enter different seasons of life (or busier weeks/months during the year), your prayer time/quiet time may look a little different. Deborah made the point in saying "Our quick, shorter prayers in the midst of the business of life are every bit as powerful...," then proceeds to list many different ways we can effectively pray through our hustle and bustle.

Being in ministry, i also loved the reminder that "Power in ministry comes from alone time; the corporate is always a reflection of the private. We must pray on our own in order to make an impact corporately." So very true. Often we get so busy serving and preparing to feed other people, we neglect to sit still long enough to rest and refuel in His presence.

Overall, i appreciated the brevity of this book and the fact that it hit on the major points regarding prayer. It's a great book to use when you find yourself in a prayer rut an need some motivation, encouragement to get back in.

"Insightful Little Book"

I love this insightful little book on prayer. It has many practical tips we all could apply, as well as personal examples. All wrapped around God's Word.

The author also includes extra resources for our devotional times. And talks about what to do on a prayer retreat.

This is one of the best books I've read on prayer, that is written in everyday language I have read in a while. I'd recommend it to anyone needing a fresh insight on prayer.

Below are a few of many quotes I highlighted:

"What you need to realize is that your prayers at the kitchen sink are every bit as effective as your prayers in the prayer closet."

"Remember, the measure of our spirituality is not in the type of service we offer, but in our love for Him and for those around us."

"By God's grace, the land of my need has become the land of my anointing."

"There is no insignificant job in the Kingdom of God."

I found a lot of tips I could use in this book. The chapters are mostly short, like essays or blog posts--a great thing for reading when you have just a few minutes to read. I'm sure I'll be referring to this book often in the future.
