TW: This book does bring up past sexual harassment, as well as a pregnancy-related experience that some readers might want to avoid. It's up to you whether you want to be warned: (view spoiler)

From the Top released just after the Winter Olympics, and the timing was perfect. Why? Because it's set right after the Olympics. After a New Year's Eve fling, Ilke intended to continue with her dreams of gold medals, only to crash

Ilke and Nate only spent a short time together, but it was memorable. When Ilke returns to the Whiskey Jack Ski Resort a few months later because she accidentally fell pregnant Nate is perplexed. Nate is working at the resort that is being restored to its former glory to be as close to his son as possible. He loves him dearly and likes being a dad, but he didn't think he'd become a father again and hardly knows Ilke. For Ilke her career as a professional skier always comes first, what will she d ...more
I really enjoyed this book. This book delivered in so many ways - it's a great romance yet it explores a number of themes (parenting, pregnancy, sexual harassment, and more) that you don't always see in a romance. The characters have outstanding chemistry and that helped endear me to them. This is a book in a series but I didn't find it to be difficult to 'catch on' to the story. I fell into the world easily and totally. I found the elements of grief to be really compelling and realistic. I thou ...more

When we first meet Ilke she has just arrived at The Whisky Jack resort lodge to meet with Nate to let him know she pregnant. Nate you can’t help to warm up to him, he is struggling after his divorce, but he is working on the resort so he is close to his son Aiden.
I think I would have appreciated the snow in the resort if I wasn’t snowed in and shivering with a bug while reading it. I read this straight through and enjoyed it thoroughly because it wasn

It took me a bit to really focus on this story. It is the second book in this series and while it's a standalone, there is some history these characters have. The book starts off being told from different POVs, so I was slightly confused about who everyone was and what their part of the story would be. Once I had read a few parts about Ilke and Nate the story was easier to understand. Even though the lodge is still being fixed up, it sounds like the perfect place to spend a week away. Lots of sn ...more

I think this book was more of a 3 1/2 than a 4, but I always score up if it's an author I like, and I do like Collin's books as a rule.

For the most part I did enjoy this book. However, it was a little bit of a downer in some ways. I felt sorry for Ilke for most of the book. Nate, while basically a stand up guy, let her down in a lot of ways and it was hard for me to watch.

I did not like the secondary romance in the book. I generally find secondary relationships annoying and distracting, thoug

From The Top, the second book in the Blue Spruce Lodge series, is another great story from Dani Collins. The story is on the sexy side and can be read as a stand-alone or as part of the series.
Inge, our heroine, comes across as an ice queen, having built walls to protect herself from being emotionally abandoned. Somehow Nate has found a crack in the armour and the story begins with Inge returning to the lodge from a disappointing Olympic skiing performance to tell Nate that she’s pregnant.

As soon as I spotted Dani Collins' From the Top, I added it to my TBR pile. A wintry setting, a story focusing on second chances and new beginnings, and romance?! It seemed like the perfect February read.

The result? From the Top is a emotional, heartwarming read from start to finish.

From the Top primarily focuses on Ilke and Nate, two adults suddenly thrown together after a one night affair results in an unexpected pregnancy.

When the story first begins, Ilke is dealing with the sudden turn of

I am really enjoying this series about two brothers who have been world-class skiing and snowboarding competitors and whose family own a winter sports equipment conglomerate working to restore a skiing resort. In the first book, the uptight older brother found romance with the daughter of their partner. In this one, Ilke, a gorgeous Swedish downhill skier arrives at the resort to tell their project manager, Nate, that their one-night stand over New Year’s has resulted in an unplanned pregnancy.

Ilke and Nate had one amazing New Year’s Eve, in a very private celebration. It was supposed to be a one time thing, but fate had something different in mind for these two. Ilke was working toward one goal, and that doesn’t include a family. Now faced with an unexpected pregnancy, Ilke has to face the man she can’t get out of her mind. Neither are prepared for a relationship let alone a baby but somehow they have to make this work – and not simply because of the baby

I read the sample of book one and felt I enjoyed the authors writing style, so requested this. Really enjoyed it, might buy book one too when my TBR pile goes down.

It started well, and I thought I knew what was going to happen but...I was wrong. It took a different direction, and I really enjoyed being surprised. I loved Nate, such a great father to Aiden, but his reactions to Ilke's news was

“From the Top”, the second story in the “Blue Spruce Lodge” series, is another delightful insight into characters we already knew and loved from the first book, featuring Nate, a wonderful bachelor father, and driven skier Ilke. Dani Collin’s writing is superb and her characters fascinating, I’ll always read her books.
I loved the glimpses we’d had of Nate with his son in “On the Edge”, so I was eagerly waiting for his story. His love

I purchased a copy of the steamy novel Blue Spruce Lodge Book 1: On The Edge: Rolf and Glory by Dani Collins and this review was given freely.
Emotional, action packed and steamy with a hint of suspense, this Whiskey Jack Resorts, Montana based holiday novel includes a wealth German-American sporting family, the former professor Marvin with the dream of becoming a hotelier, a bit of brotherly rivalry, and the introverted daughter Glory who learns to love the alpha male Rolf while finding

First all, I wasn’t sure if Dani Collins’ Blue Spruce Lodge books would be the series for me. From the Top proved that it is. The startling fact revealed in the first chapter was unexpected but made me keep reading. I had gotten the book without reading the synopsis which in this case I was glad that I did. I was expecting it to be a story of family relationships since the first has been. It is but also very different.

This is a truly enjoyable read. There are a lot of characters but once you get all of them straight this adds to the story. They are a big loving group that makes the story really fun.

From the Top is in the second book in the Blue Spruce Lodge series. This can be read as a standalone, but would be so much better if you read On The Edge first On The Edge started with coming to the lodge and the rebuild, now the lodge is coming along. We meet both Nate and Ilke in the first book. Nate has been one of the main men that seems to be making sure things work and get done. Ilke is a skier that is friends with he backers that are living at the lodge. At the New Years party a spark for ...more

I really enjoyed "From the Top" by Dani Collins. I finished the first book in this series a couple of years ago but time and other books got in the way of continuing on with this series. I finally made my way back to it and I instantly remembered why I loved the first one so much. This is a great continuation of the story lines from the first one. The story builds and leaves you wondering how it's all going to turn out and the characters are well written and evolving as the series continues on.

Fascinating romance story!

How on earth was a top tier skiier Ilke going to compete after dropping from 1st place to 19th-? For a very unexpected reason. Reading how Nate reacts to her shocking news was painful. What a challenging situation... I loved this relationship, and how the author took us along as both Ilke and Nate slowly and reluctantly begin to trust each other. The older couple's tentative romance as backdrop to theirs was totally charming. Perfect. A great story. Highly recommended

It was a little slow getting into this next in the Blue Spruce Lodge series mainly because I am not a fan of repetition. Once It got past the repetition of emotional elements, the story took off and many passionate encounters happen, twisting complicating circumstances for the characters of Ilke ands n Matt. Many questions needed to be addressed and answered with viable solutions found in order for Matt and Ilke to find their way together.  I did love the ending!

While focusing on becoming the best skier she can, she has a one night stand at New Years to discover that she is now pregnant and can't ski. She shows up at the lodge to talk to Nate to see if he will take the baby after it is born and raise the child so she can return to skiing.

I really love books by Dani Collins and I must say on this one it took me a little longer to get into it than it usually does, but it was well worth continuing to read.

Fantastic Storytelling

This was an absolutely amazing story with wonderful characters and an outstanding storyline. I enjoyed this book from the very first page it was exceptional. The characters were written with lots of interesting emotions and a story that touched all of the feelings a five-star book should have. I can't wait to read the next story in this series it is half as good as this one was.

I enjoyed reading the story between Ilke and Nate, the character development and the connection between these characters were perfect for the storyline.
