Bannion was his name, Jim Bannion. On the road to Tecumseh town, Bannion looked like just another no-good fiddlefoot looking for a cowpoke job. That he carried a star-badge hidden in his boot was his secret. Because Bannion was there to check upon another badge-toter, the local deputy sheriff. If suspicions were right, there wouldn't be room in that valley for two lawmen. One of the two had a date with a fast bullet...and he'd never know when. And with a dead man as the welcoming committee, Bannion knew that time was coming real soon.
