First, I have to confess that I was wrong. I committed the cardinal sin and judged a book by its cover; sort of. Actually, I judged the book by its publication date. In either case, I was mistaken to have assumed a negative opinion of it without having read it first.
Published in 1990, The Writer’s Handbook is a collection of chapters written by various successful authors as well as a wide-ranging list of markets for manuscript sales. Originally, I assumed this book would be completely irrelevant as it was published more than twenty years ago but as it turns out, the insight the contributing authors, writing about how to be a writer, is not entirely unreachable today. It may just be useful after all.
