Helen E. Buckley was a preschool and elementary school teacher, and taught in the SUNY Oswego Education and English departments. She was an adjunct professor of the Syracuse University Continuing Education Dept.

Helen Buckley was born in Syracuse, New York in 1918. She received her B.S. (1945) and her M.S. (1949) from Syracuse University, and her Ed.D. from Columbia University (1962). She began her career as an elementary school teacher (1942-1949), was a campus school teacher at State University at Oswego, Oswego, New York (1949-1961) and professor of English at SUNY, Oswego (1961-1976). Buckley published a number of books for children over her 30 year career.

For a short children’s read before bed, this does a fantastic job of taking big theology and putting it together in a simple story two dozen pages long. I’d argue this book is perfect for everyone of all ages who need/want to understand how Jesus can be found in the entire Bible.

It was in the Christmas book section in our local bookstore, but this could be read at Easter, and even year round. Highly recommend!

I thought this was a good story for little ones, perfect for reading to my creche kids at church. I thought it was a clever way of telling the story of Jesus, The Star Maker, who came to earth, was born as a baby, who died and came back to life so we can be friends with God. A good story to read both at Christmas and all year round. It is well illustrated. I bought it online, so it was smaller than I thought it was going to be, other than that I would highly recommend this book.

A lovely little book for children linking creation, Jesus’ birth and death to explain God’s plan for salvation.

The text is simple and short. However I couldn’t help thinking that I would like to read another version of this story which covers the same content but with a slightly longer, more lyrical, poetic text.

An excellent book to introduce the birth of Jesus around Christmas time to young children in Sunday School, home or in Religious & Moral Education.
Suited for younger readers, its message is clear and illustrations bright. A quick read sure to ignite discussion.

This is a lovely Christmas book for children. 5-8 yrs telling the story of Jesus' birth while putting it in the context of the whole Bible and creation.
