Somewhere around a level 1 reader book, this book was a wonderful help when we started learning about punctuation! I picked it up for .50 cents at a library sale and only wish the whole set would have been for sale. This really helped my son grasp the difference between an exclamation point and a period and when to use both. Sometimes he struggled with the difference between them, often making a sentence sound exciting to justify an exclamation point when none was really needed. He's got them down now, but I'm glad we had this. I plan on looking for the others from the collection before my 3 yr old twins will be needed it. I highly recommend this book!
This is a wonderful book for teaching young children about the importance and rewards of being comfortable in your own skin, and that there is absolutely nothing wrong with being different or not fitting in. Also not surprisingly this books can help children learn what periods, exclamation ,and question marks are presented in a very humorous way.
Pair with "The Day the Letters Went on Strike," and "The Dot and the Line." Need to find a clip from the Sesame Street schtick where all the punctuation marks received unique sounds when read aloud....
