A botanist friend of mine had theses books and recommended them. When I first checked on Amazon, they were more than I wanted to pay. Two price drops later I bought the set. I only took one biology class in college so I'm not familiar with some of the terms used or how to look up plants by attributes. There are multiple photos for each entry so I just look through them to find what I want. The descriptions are accessible to they layman in the main. I've only through the set and read several entries. I don't think I'll ever read them all.
I hike a lot and have been curious about the plants I see along the trails. If you're not that interested in the subject, this set is probably overkill for you.
