Introduction to Finite Elements in Engineering

The book provides an integrated approach to finite elements, combining theory, a variety of examples and exercise problems from engineering applications, and the implementation of the theory in complete self-contained computer programs. It serves as a textbook for senior undergraduate and first-year graduate students and also as a learning resource for practicing engineers.
Problem formulation and modeling are stressed in the book. The student will learn the theory and use it to solve a variety of engineering problems.
Features of the Second new material is added in the areas of orthotropic materials, conjugate gradient method, three dimensional frames, frontal method, Guyan reduction, and contour plotting for quadrilaterals; temperature effect and multipoint constraint considerations have been introduced for stress analysis in solids, and implemented in the computer programs; all the previous computer programs have been revised and several new ones are added; a disk with QUICKBASIC source code programs is provided; FORTRAN, and C versions for Chapters 2 through 11 are also included; and example data files are included.

It is good textbook for the finite elements course. As a reference, it would be nice if there was a bit more info on solid mechanics in it.
