This story begins and ends in the same place, a barn. Pepper the Pony has a new fancy hat that she tries to show off to the other animals but ends up losing it when she sneezes. The illustrations in this book are wonderfully eye catching. Children will definitely enjoy the fact that you can open the covers to reveal a very large Pepper backdrop.
How I would use this book with students:
I would definitely use this book as a read-aloud. I would also place it in the classroom library for the students to read for enjoyment. There is also a moral to this story of not being a show-off, I think that would probably come in handy as a reminder to students every once in awhile.

The highlight of Pepper the Pony is the illustrations that are big, bold and wonderful for young children to enjoy. The covers open and fold out to give a large version of Pepper.
I like the the book has a moral or lesson to teach young children and can be used to help them learn not to show off. My preschool class enjoys this book and asked to have it read often when it is their turn to pick a story. I have owned a copy for a few years and used it with several classes of preschool children.
