Mary Engelbreit grew up studying the illustrations in the vintage storybooks of her mother’s childhood, and she developed a unique style that harkens back to those simpler times. Mary’s distinctive images have made her a celebrity to millions, who eagerly snap up gift items, calendars, books, fabrics, and more.
Mary’s New York Times bestselling The Night Before Christmas is part of the holiday tradition for families across the country. Other beloved additions to a child’s first bookshelf are her New York Times bestselling Mary Engelbreit's Mother Goose and Mary Engelbreit's Nursery Tales, which are perfect companions to this volume.
It is my goal to do a project from every chapter of this book. The samplers are gorgeous and there are a lot of fun smaller projects as well. I would LOVE at least 2 more volumes of this book as a cross-stitching Mary Engelbreit superfan!
Long before AI could even begin to contrive images, people were skillfully cross-stitching projects for this 1996 book. Full pages of color photos, large project instructions, I only checked it out from library not expecting to want to own this book for future projects. Follow directions and inspiration for "Grandma Core" or take sections of each cross stitch pattern to bring it into the present. Well laid out.
Engelbreit did a fantastic job putting this book together. The patterns faithfully represent her artwork, and she provides several different projects for each chapter. The bottom line is, I'm just not a huge Engelbreit fan. However, this will be perfect for a friend of mine who's just getting into cross stitch and loves Mary Engelbreit.
Lots of cute designs, easy to understand instructions. Lots of various projects - things to make so it is not just straight cross stitch but things you can make it into. I only came away with a couple of designs but only because I don't currently have use for the super cute.
Full of fun ideas for projects, beautifully photographed with lots of alternate ideas suggested. Big and small projects stitched with Mary's signature style designs.
