The author did unit conversion rigidly without any appreciation of the scientific meaning. "The American Falls erodes 2 to 3 inches [or] 5.08 to 7.62 [cm] per year"... What is that 0.08 cm doing there? 5 to 8 cm suffices.
And Niagara Falls, NY is properly referred to as such, but Niagara Falls, ON is frequently referred to as Niagara Falls, Canada. What is the author's reservation against Ontario?

The glossy full-page photos are beautiful, but do not a helpful book make. The book is 50% enormous and breathtaking photos, 25% Niagara Falls, and 25% everything around Niagara Falls. And of that stuff, most of it is trivia-type information, pricey, and/or not terribly descriptive.
You could have the chamber of commerce send you a free copy of their magazine/advertising, and come away with a LOT more than is in this.
I'd hoped for a lot better.
