Little Miss History is traveling again. This time it's in sunny, Southern California and the La Brea Tar Pits. She explains how the tar pits got their name, then goes on with great illustrations to describes how trapped animals became fossils. She takes the reader on a wonderful and accurate tour through the museum, sharing details about the Hancock family who discovered and developed the area.
Charming and informative, Little Miss History doesn't disappoint, informing young readers about the man

“Little Miss History Travels to La Brea Tar Pits and Museum” is a perfect combination of education and fun! Each page has photographs and illustrations, with intriguing scientific and historical information woven throughout. This explains how the tar pits developed and then trapped prehistoric animals. A museum exhibit allows people to test the pull of the tar, to feel the danger. The layers of an archaeological dig are shown, where deeper means older. I learned something new on Tar Pits from Miss Little History

It was such a pleasure to read the new travel adventures of Little Miss History. Once again the authors are waking children’s (and adults like me) curiosity on a brilliant way, with wonderful images.

It was fun to visit with her ‘The Observation Pit’ first museum at La Brea. I must admit I always thought ‘tar pits’ was an human invention, thanks to Little Miss History I know it is a nature’s creation.

Little Miss HISTORY Travels to LA BREA TAR PITS & MUSEUM, written by Barbara Ann Mojica and illustrated by Victor Ramon Mojica, is the eighth book in The Little Miss HISTORY Travels to… nonfiction children’s series. This book is both educational and fun with a creative mix of drawings intermingled with beautiful landscape pictures to make every page colorful and eye-catching!
