The Dictionary of Christian Biography, Reference Works

Rate this book
This dictionary is a unique, rapid reference for those men and women of all denominations who have, over the last two millennia, contributed to the life, history, and study of Christianity in all its facets or in whose lives Christianity has been a significant factor. The entries are concise and accessible, although for key figures longer essays have been written. Its coverage ranges from major figures of the immediate post-New Testament era to those recently deceased. The dictionary offers a global perspective, with in-depth coverage of Africa, India, and China as well as Orthodoxy--Greek and Russian. This reference will prove essential for general readers interested in Church history and the study of the Christian faith; in libraries; and as a study aid for students, researchers, and scholars.

Think you don't need this because you have Google? Think again. Here is a book that gives you two or three paragraphs on anyone who is anyone in Christianity. From Augustine to Martin Luther King Jr. you will find it here. This is a rare book that is best owned in a physical format, as easy alphabetical searches are faster than messing with your Kindle or iPad.
P.S. The author is factual with no apparent bias.
