There are so many stories to savour in this wonderful collection by Australian author, Paddy O'Reilly. When it comes to narrative voice O'Reilly is a ventriloquist, but that's not to imply anything forced or false in her writing. Even in the stories that are more obviously fable-like or sci-fi-influenced, she reaches a truth of character and emotion that is completely compelling.
