I had read a sample of this book on Amazon and was delighted to receive a request for a review by the author. She sent me a paperback copy in exchange for an honest review.

The first thing I noticed was the appealing cover that was illustrated by her son, Price. A boy named Price is also the main character in the book. The story itself is skillfully written, imaginative, and full of adventure.

Price eyes the alley between his family’s garage and that of Mr. Murphy, a grouchy, next-door neighbor.

The tale told here greatly reminded me of the Chronicles of Narnia, just on a smaller scale and with several role reversals...the cat for the queen, the solo child for the siblings, the dog for the lion, and so on. Price, the solo child, is a kindhearted lad, eager to explore and go on adventures, but just as quick to consider his family when choices must be made...and boy are there choices in his future! The unexpected role he'll play in events unfolding will alter more than just the Land of To ...more

I did the whole "judge a book by it's cover" thing, to be honest. The cover is so unique and I'm always amazed people can draw so good and grass. Like, how can people detail grass that good? In this case, it was really worth it choose this title.

I have to admit I was a little nervous when I first started it, thinking I might possibly not like it. I ended up being surprised, and found myself reading this late into the night (midnight and I'm not ashamed of it). I got a Chronicles of Narnia feel

Cat Between Two Worlds by Lesley Renton
When eleven year old Price Evans moves from the big city to a small town, he is delighted to discover a space between his parents’ and his neighbour’s houses which would make a perfect place to make a hide-away. His grumpy neighbour, however, makes it clear that such an idea is totally impossible and promises Price dire consequences should he wander onto his property. His sinister-looking cat seems to agree with that.
