Half of the book continued the story of the couple Hase/Satomura from the previous volume, and the rest told the lovestory of Satomura's partner at work - the capable Aoyagi, and Hase's friend from the police force - the ultragentleman but also ultra hard to approach Nogami.
If Hase/Satomura is the tsundere type of couple, in which both sides were too preoccupied with figuring out their own feelings that they became kinda dumb when it comes to noticing the other's romantic feelings (in short very silly and comical dynamics between the two); then the Nogami/Aoyagi couple is another complete different kind of awkwardness. The two knew their feelings well, and also had already noticed that the other had a thing for them, but well romance ain't that easy. Aoyagi was so desperate in figuring out how to approach Nogami without turning him off, and Nogami was so insecure about himself that he became timid and hesitated to commit himself to a relationship with Aoyagi. The lovestory or these two seemingly perfect and capable men had a realistic taste to it, which I really appreciate, but boy was it roundabout and awkward, and sadly somehow very relatable to the awkward me 😂.
A very cute read, can be unnecessarily lengthy here and there but not really a big problem. Good job Toono Haruhi!
