E aspirante a rock star.

It's a fun, Brit chick lit read. But the end is a total let down and the guy she ends up with is a total prat. I couldn't buy it at all.

Loved it! I think I would have finished in one setting if time (and my eyes) would have allowed it. Very very clever!

Me gusta, lectura ligera

The blurb gives away the whole storyline, but it was enjoyable, nonetheless. Very easygoing book.

Review:
I can honestly say that I think Dayna is one of those characters every girl can relate to. This is typical Brit chick-lit at its best, and whilst this book admittedly isn’t a stand-out within the genre, it was a fun read, and I enjoyed myself.
I think we can all say we’ve had rubbish boyfriends, and really, listening to Dayna recount hers made me laugh a little, and feel better about my own less-than-enjoyable experiences. This book is told from the point of view of the heroine, Dayna, both in the present day, whilst on the labour ward, and in terms of the past, each chapter signifying a new (rubbish) boyfriend.
As I mentioned, this wasn’t anything particularly new for the chick lit genre, heck, it wasn’t even a Bridget-Jones-esque stand-out. What it was, was an enjoyable read, with a relatable female lead, and just enough intrigue to keep me going until the end. For me, it was also a really nice mini-break from reading YA novels.
If you fancy something a little different from sticking to YA, or you enjoy a little bit of chick-lit, this is a pleasant, easy read – though due to drug and sex references, I don’t think I’d recommend it to younger readers!

I really did read this solely because the title amused me. It was pretty much your typical chick lit quick read. While in labour, Dayna (really??) tells the story of the six boyfriends she's had since she was 17. There were also stories about her work life and her family woven through, but mostly it's the story of the men she's dated. It was kind of like the movie, Definitely Maybe, in which the little girl is trying to work out which of the women Ryan Reynolds is telling her about is her mother. Only the reader is the one trying to work out which of the men Dayna talks about is the father of her baby.
Yeah, I guessed by the third chapter. And I was right. So if you're looking to be kept guessing until the last page, this isn't the book to do that. But it definitely had a lot of amusing moments. Particularly at the end of the section relating to her second boyfriend, Chris, who's an aspiring rock star!

This book was amazing for me, because it's the so typical love story that nobody likes, since it looks real. But, as it is a novel, it is so intelligently conceived, I almost feel it was real, and still think it has an indeterminate part of a testimony.
Then, you look around and you realize that this society is plenty of (sh)it. And also, you realize that you, as a man, perfectly understand that woman, because rubbish girlfriends exist, and we feel exactly the same, except that most men have not realized, and society tells us not do try.
The crisis needs two ingredients: an unconscious lover, and some horribly designed family planning tools.

Young woman in labour reminisces about all her old boyfriends. High Fidelity has a section where the main character reminisces about his old girlfriends, and this is kinda like that. Only longer. With a less sympathetic narrator. And more annoying love objects. I found it fairly shallow and trite, but I suspect, from seeing the number of 5-star reviews it has on Amazon, that I might not be the target audience (being 10 years older and the wrong gender). Rated MA for adult themes, drug use, coarse language. 2/5

It's an interesting way to tell a tale of one woman's often humorous journey to find her "Mr Right".
Dayna is in labour with her first child and as she progresses, we are treated to flash-backs of her past - past boyfriends in particular. So, flipping between the present day and each relationship, we begin to wonder just who is the baby's father?
A light read, in the dessert world of books it's probably a vanilla cupcake with pink icing :). Nothing out of the box, but a good read just the same.

I read this book because I was feeling really down and I wanted to read something light. My sister suggested this and I was not disappointed. This is such a hilarious book, it is so british; I don't think everyone will understand the humour. Although I was not happy with the choice at the end, I was happy, I was laughing when I finished the book. If you're looking for something girly, kind of stupid, funny and light, this is your book.

I really enjoyed this book! I found myself reading and reading because I really wanted to find out who turned out to be the father. Was I ever disappointed when she ended up with the worst of them all - seriously that needed alot more explanation about how that happened. otherwise it was really enjoyable.

October 21, 2009got the feeling that was some part of the book missing near at the end. didn't explained how the end turn up to be like that, leaves us imagining. but a good book. that part about yellow coming from the curry was very cool! laughed a lot with that boyfriend.

Was a great look at most probably over exaggerated bad boyfriends, different stereotypes from what a lot of people wouldn't want in a boyfriend.
Was an enjoyable read and had me guessing the father right up until the end.
