After discovering that her husband of ten years is having an affair, Kerry, pregnant and alone, must pick up the pieces of her life and learn how to get what she wants, for both her and her unborn child, on her terms. Original.

Ok so I was told to read this book cause it was sooooo good. Well I gotta say. The book was ok. But what I do not get after all that the H and h went through with him being a man ho and wanting to stay with his wife and getting them to the HEA Why would the author make not 1 but two books about him cheating on the h and how the H is now marrying wife #3 etc. So obviously the H could not keep it in his pants. And no I have not read the 2nd book and I have no intentions on reading the 3rd book either. This book fell under a romance genre but then the 2nd book moves to the romantic suspense. I really did not care for Kerry she was immature and selfish. And Lets not get me going on Jamison. What a low life, selfish, self absorb d***bag!! He whines cause his wife does not understand him and is not always there for him... WAHHH WAHHH here is your nappy you big baby. So instead of talking to his wife he goes out and cheats on her. YUP that will make it better. So now he involves someone else in their relationship. The jerk didn't even have the decency to get his wife from jail. And their best friends cheating on each other all the time and the other spouse knew about it. Why would you want friends like that??? This relationship had no chance in hades to make it. All I can say is that once I had found out that Jamison actually cheated on Kelly there were absolutely no redeeming qualities in him what so ever. So his grovel to make up for the heartache was no where it should have been. I personally would have Kelly divorce him and find some one better. But I guess that is in book two but I will not waste my time with it. The writing was ok but the HEA is so unbelievable especially if you read what happens in book 2.
I'm 80% done with His First Wife: Okay, I made it this far and was going to read 'til the home stretch, but I read some of the reviews.. This has a second and third book about poor ol' Jamison and how he is effing around? You have got to be kidding me. I read this thinking it was a standalone and I cannot finish this knowing that Jamison does this again and again. I was very annoyed with Jamison blaming the cheating on Kerry. Give me a break dude. He chose to eff around and his mother needs a reality check. I cannot believe this crap. I felt that the writing and characters were trying to make it seem like 'Oh poor Jamison, your wife hires maids and does nothing around the house, how dare her not pay you back for keeping a roof over her head and buying her nice things' Eff that crap. Even her own family (her aunt) wasn't on her side. There is so much wrong with the characters of this story (not the writer/writing). They all need a good therapy session and slap in the face. Let me tell you right now, my husband ever even thinks about putting his man parts in someone else, he has another thing coming. Jamison got off easy compared to how I would react. Kerry's family just tells her she isn't good enough for Jamison and pretty much deserves what he did to her. Oh and little Miss Coreen. Screw her. I got so angry with these characters and after reading the reviews about there being more books, I'm out. I'm going to envision my own ending for this book where Jamison is not made out to be a poor little baby and Kerry is not made out to be some spoiled little brat that deserved to be cheated on. No one deserves to be cheated on, IDC who the hell you are.
I loved this book. My first time reading this author and it was great.
I loved the love Kerry and Jamison had for each other but I hated how dramatic their mother's were. The mistress was pitiful and I felt no sympathy for her. I wanted Kerry to strangle her lol.
I felt that the main character Kerry was spoiled, selfish, and stupid at times. She had no clue on how to b a wife to husband Jamison who was all about care for her never concern about how he felt r how she put down ever effort the man made. Now not condoning his affair but she had a good busband who do any and everything for her.
I didn't know what to expect since the previous reviews were not great but I enjoy the story. It took some time to appreciate the writer's style of writing but I get it however I can admit that some won't.
Wow this was a good read. I enjoy it to the end . Well written. Kerry and Jamison met fell in love and the family drama begins. Kerry from a rich family, Jamison was not, his mom wanted him to go to med school and he got a scholarship but his girlfriend never got accepted. Jamison refuse to leave Kerry so he remain with her. He started a lawn mow company which turned into a fortune . They got married had a baby. Kerry father was military man he went into a coma and wake up several years later. To get the knowledge of this you have to read it. You will not be disappointed. But I need more so now book 2. Lovely read.
Too much filler for me which I skipped but the story was awesome. I thought the characters were well established but Kerry cried throughout the story was a bit to much. Jamison stirred the imagination but sad he turned out to be a hopeless asshole so no I won't be interested in reading the next book. I think what did it was him dying. Good luck and thanks for the read.
This book started with a passionate beginning, however it became quickly dull and slowly dragged on. It got quite confusing at time, as the author kept jumping from the past to the present. Sorry. This is the first time I read a Grace Octavia novel and will continue to read her other books, in the near future. Thank you! 🙂
Wow wow wow. Jamison really screwed up. I didn’t care for any of his excuses but oh well. They both along with their families really needed to have a come to Jesus meeting. I loved all of the drama. Great book.
I skimmed so much of this book. It was filled with so many useless passages that just seem to be there to make the book longer. And to go through all of this, and then find out that the next book is about him and his many affairs? And that they’re divorced? What was the point of this book?
Very emotional read. This story dug deeper and showed the human side that lie beneath the tough exteriors we all view. How what appears to be packaged pretty isn't always as it seems. It really shed light on the many layers that make us who we are, good and bad, and how it usually takes someone else too point out these flaws for us to address them or to just realize that about one's self. I didn't know how it would truly unfold with secrets being let out, meddling mothers who despise their in- laws. It was very messy on the well off and not so well off side. Showed having money doesn't mean you're happy and without problems. Good story, I loved Kerry Ann and was rooting for her to find herself and resolve her inner and outer demons.
This book was ok. It took me a while to read because it was so mediocre but its really not a long book. I was more into it at the beginning. At the end I started to loose interest in it a little. I felt like the problems they had in their marriage were broken down and talked about over and over again; redundant. Then when it came to the hands on hows of how their marriage issues were resolved, like with their mothers, we never were involved with how they were checked about their unsupportive bad behavior. I just kind of felt let down by the small crescendo of a plot.I got this book at a library book sale so it was a cheap risk no feelings were hurt here, whatever...
This book was just ok. I wish it didn't switch between the past and present, it was a little confusing. Both of the mothers were out of pocket, especially Jamison's mother. His mom actively tried to ruin his marriage and almost succeeded, true Jamison didn't have to cheat but mom is not supposed to find you a side piece and scheme behind your back either. I was hoping Coreen, the side chick, died in the end. I didn't really like any of the characters except, Aunt Luchie and Tyrian, the baby. I'm not going to read any other books in this series.
Great Book and a pleasant surprise. I was expecting a book that focused on drama and cheating husbands and I was surprised and enjoyed all the deeper subjects this book focused or touched on ( such as marriage, infidelity, mental issues, family). IT was very well written and I enjoyed the different perspectives and the email and IM's.
Really love this author!!!! So far, this is my second novel of hers and once again, it was great and hard to put down. What I truly like about this author is how realistic she is...she doesn't paint relationships/marriages as some walk in the park fantasy; she brings real life situations into the novel. Bravo!!!
Excellent book. This was my first book by this author. Grace Octavia gave us a glimpse into the black elite of Atlanta by way of Jamison and Kerry. A cheating spouse is horrible but the outside factors that led to the cheating was the real story. Both Kerry and Jamison's mothers were the worst.
I met a woman in the library stacks who recommended this author. It was a great deal of fun listening to this book, read by Simi Howe. Atlanta's black elite families in a murder mystery, with a couple or three ex wives and lots of intrigue. Usually "chic lit" is just to pass the time. But this one was far more entertaining than the regular stuff. I'm moving on to another by the same author.
This is a good sister-girl book. I think it was better than Take Her Man by the same author. Very intriguing story that kept my attention and shows the male and female point of view. Overall good book.
It was an ok book about forgiveness, and the crazy things we do in the midst of our emotions. I wish her friend Marcy had played more a role throughout the book, and I am disappointed that there is a sequel that is contradictory to what I was hoping for.
This was my first read by this author..The story started out good but in the middle it was at a stand still.....in the end it got better so I will read something else by this author...
