Tracey…

One night left my heart shattered and my reputation ruined, and now my only hope is to transfer to another university far from home. Although I’m a champion figure skater and am used to succeeding, I can’t dump the burden of distrust and intimacy I’m carrying.

But when I literally crash into the cocky captain of the hockey team, sparks fly, and the attraction is as undeniable as it is unwanted.

No way is this arrogant hottie the one to help me move past my fears. Or is he…?

Dak…

Overwhelmed with guilt and remorse, I can’t forget the tragic accident that killed my first love. To avoid ever feeling that kind of agonizing loss again, I vow to stick with one-night stands with every puck bunny who glides my way and focus on keeping my position on the hockey team.

But after I meet a feisty figure skater and am then thrown together with her as a lab partner, I find I want to melt the icy walls we’ve built around our hearts.

If we don’t strangle each other first.

Arc provided by author for honest review. Wow I just love hockey players. And Dak just became one new hot book boyfriends. I can't believe how much I adore this man. And at times yes I wanted to smack him. And tell him hey stop being an ass. But ya hockey players are my weakness. They just are so damn sexy and so outgoing and did I mention sexy lol. I love how dak put Tracey's needs before his own. It shows how much of great guy he is and Tracey I absolutely love her. I mean there were times I wanted to smack her loll. But this book was truly amazing!! Oh and just know Dalton N Nikki's story is gonna be hot and wolf's and heaven I hope.

Elizabeth Hartey lights the lamp with CROSS STROKE, the first book in the On the Edge series. Due to past relationships neither champion figure skater Tracey Hayward nor hockey captain, Dakota (Dak) Andersen is interested in dating anyone. However, the two keep crossing paths and end up needing to work together on and off the ice. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for new adult audiences.

I adored this book. Elizabeth Hartey does an amazing job with her character development. Tracey and Dak are likable and complex individuals. They have similarities that make them relate. They both had tragedies occur in previous relationships that cause them to shy away from wanting to date anyone. They both love marine life. Which I appreciate because I often wish I majored in marine biology. They grow tremendously throughout the story.

The plot was realistic and skillfully written. There are many heartwarming and compelling scenes throughout this novel. It made me experience many emotions. I was interested in the story from beginning to end. I’m looking forward to continuing reading this series and future books by Elizabeth Hartey. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Tracey and Dak slam into each other’s lives when they least expect it. Both of them are getting over tragedy in their pasts. They both love the ice, him with hockey, and Tracey a figure skater.

The two have to rebuild their lives. Tracey wants nothing to do with a relationship at her new school. When they crash, sparks fly. Their chemistry was so full of sexual tension. I loved watching them fall for each other.

Cross Stroke was a fairly well paced. The plot was engaging and there was a ton of feels, but it was also easy to laugh. The characters were easy to fall for and developed well. I would recommend to the reader looking for a sexy hockey hero and an intriguing storyline.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

Triggers: Cheating; revenge porn; suicide attempt

I liked this book, the banter between the main characters and the way both characters have faced their inner demons and survived.

Tracey is on a new campus, having decided to transfer schools to finish her graduate studies after being betrayed by her last boyfriend. Her ex did a number not only on her self-confidence but with her self worth. Trace doubts her abilities to judge a man's character believing that she only attracts gay men, after all with what happened with her last boyfriend seems to cemented that fact in her soul.

Dak is hiding from his own demons. After a tragic accident with his girlfriend during his freshman year, he's sworn off serious relationships. One night stands, hook-ups with like minded women is his norm, until he meets Tracey. He senses from the beginning that she's different which makes him all the more determined to stay way from her.

When they are paired up as lab partners for a class, they begin to really get to know one another, eventually sharing their secrets and pain. Love is not for the faint of heart and they each must overcome the obstacles thrown in their path before living their happily ever after.

Both Tracey and Dak are flawed characters who learn from their past and learn to trust and love again.

Cross Stroke (On the Edge #1) by Elizabeth Hartey

M/F Romance
Triggers: Revenge porn, cheating, M/M relationship within the story

After having to decide whether or not Tracey could continue with her education, she decides that moving schools is the way to go. She is also an amazing ice skater and is able to join the club team of her new school. Since ice time is hard to come by, the skating team will also run in to the hockey team from time to time.

Dak is cocky and arrogant. He is also smart, kind and full of guilt. He sees something in Tracey and despite his friends loving being single and having puck bunnies over every night, Dak wants something more.

When Tracey realizes that she lives right next door to Dak, can she retreat enough to protect her heart? Dak and Tracey have good chemistry. They banter like old friends, but can steam up a room just as quickly. I love that they start as acquaintances and learn to trust each other. Each character has pain in their past and when they share that with each other, you get to see their relationship evolve and grow.

I loved their story. It was sweet at times and I loved their banter. I can't wait to see if they will show up in the next book or if it will be about Tracey's lovable roommate.

Ohh I am such a sports book junkie!! Cross Stroke is about a hottie that plays Hockey and then throw in a figure skater as well...I just knew I would fall in love!!!

This book was about Tracey, she is a Gold Medalist for two years in a row and then suddenly, she had to transfer university's due to some crap that happened to her. She was heart broken and her reputation was ruined.

Dak is the hottie that plays Hockey. He has had his heart broke as well and has a heart felt story about his ex, but he isn't looking for any long term relationships. He just can't move on.

That is until he collides with the Gold Medalist on the ice. Y'all this collision was the beginning of full blown crazzy banter. Soo much sexual tension, but Tracey thinks he bats for the opposite team, but ohhh is she mistaken..lol

Now y'all will have to pick this book up and find out if these two ever get on the same page and even skate together in the future!! : )

I gave Cross Stroke 4 Shining Stars!!! Elizabeth Hartey is a new Author for me and I will definitely be stalking her for new releases!! I sooo fell in love with her characters and loved the fun ride this book gave me!!

I loved this book so much. There is so much to like about this book the fact that there wasn’t that much drama or even the same kind of drama. Honestly this book is just wags I needed. I can wait to see what else this author puts out. The only issue I had was that s Dan didn’t get to meet her family and that I really wanted her to play a bit more hockey but that all. I did like that this kind of reminded me of the cutting edge though.

Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of this wonderful book! To begin, I love the concept- an NA romance with a hockey player and a figure skater? Sign me up! Dak is one of my new favorite book boyfriends, and I love how he cares for Tracey. The author weaves the romance with the struggles these two must overcome to make a page-turning, swoon-worthy read. Highly recommend to NA fans!

description
Dakota Anderson is the captain of the ice hockey team. After losing his love, he's determined he won't open his heart again. Life is all about his studies, hockey and the occasional one nighter to satiate himself. Things are going as planned until he literally crashes into a beautiful figure skater while practicing one day.

Tracey Hayward transferred schools after suffering a massive heartbreak and humiliation. She wanted a fresh start which included finishing her degree and skating. She's promised herself no more men, not even for sex. All is going well until the crash with a super hot hockey player on the ice. Now they're stuck as lab partners in a graduate class they share. Can they fight their attraction to one another or will they be able to heal each other and finally be happy?

Dak certainly seemed to be the jackass Tracey dubbed him as in the beginning. I was heartbroken for him and the guilt he carried for his past. When he felt rejected or cornered, he turned on his jackass mode and pretended to be the player he had been, when he really wanted to be a man worthy of Tracey.

I loved the strength and perseverance Tracey had. Yes she changed schools to get away from the big mistakes she made, but she held her head high and made new friends. She had an immense attraction to Dak, but she couldn't possibly act on it. She doesn't feel she can count on her instincts in order to not be hurt again. She's never been able to judge anyone properly and her history has proven that.

I truly enjoyed this story of second chances. Both characters are damaged and hold their own demons. When they came together they were perfect for each other. Dak had so much love to give and you could feel how he wanted to protect Tracey's heart. I loved getting to know each character. I do wish it didn't feel as rushed in the end but overall, I enjoyed the story and had a hard time putting it down. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

My heart hurt for both hero and heroine some of things they had to be faced with just tore at me what they needed was each other when Dak and Tracey meet it was perfect chemistry . Can't wait to see what's to come for this author will be on TBR as soon as it's available .

Holy Hotness with a hockey stick! This is my first read by Hartley and let me just say, I am a fan. She drew me in from the start and kept me entranced for the entire ride.
Dak and Trace are both trying to forget their heartbreaking past. Both never really moving on. Vowing to never open themselves up to that kind of pain again. But when fate decides to throw these two together, there is no stopping the chemistry between them.
I would love to give more details but I am afraid to give something away. I loved every second of this beautiful story of healing through love. I couldn't get enough and can't wait to see what Hartley brings us with the next in this series!

This was a great book about moving on from the past and forgiving yourself for the mistakes you made as well as not assuming that everyone is going to be like the mistakes of your past.

I really liked Tracey and I knew something bad went down between her and her ex Sean but to discover what it really was broke my heart. I loved the friendships she formed with Alex Sanchez and Nikki and how they helped her with everything that she went through in the book. Tracey was definitely afraid to get involved in a relationship and I loved how she knew herself that she was in over her head with Dakota.

Dakota himself was super interesting as he carried so much guilt with what happened with Abbey and didn’t forgive himself for what occurred. He was afraid of going into a relationship and losing someone again and I also don’t think he was going to allow himself the chance at happiness.

The banter between Tracey and Dakota was excellent from start to finish but there was also something there that both were afraid to touch. I was so mad at Bri for everything that she tried to do and I really hope she gets what is coming to her in another book! I liked at the end how far Dakota went to show Tracey how much he cared.

I hope the next book looks at Alex and Erik!

Tracey & Dak literally run into one another. She is starting over, since her chance at happiness was ruined at the last school she attended. This time, she plans to keep to herself and study.

Dak is immediately attracted to Tracey. They have a lot in common. The both love to skate, hate to be considered anything but the best, and both want to be the boss.

This story starts your heart pumping right from the very first chapter. The characters have excellent banter, heat, and ton of competition thrown in. I loved how fun and easy this story was to read. I never wanted to put it down. I simply cannot wait for the next book in the On The Edge series.

A college romance that was a slow burn of sorts. With just enough angst and humor in it to add to the storyline. Enjoyable read with likeable characters.

This book was very entertaining. There was a lot of fighting feelings and slow burn for Dakota and Tracey, and it worked out well. It was a Hate, to friends to lovers trope. They both have bad pasts and them helping each other work through it, is great for them. There were a few moments that shocked me, I wasn’t expecting, and there were others that I predicted way beforehand, but in all it was a great book. I’d recommend it if asked.

Nothing like reading a book with cocky hockey player and a gold medalist figure skater, who had good banter from the get go. The story was good, and it kept my attention. I liked the characters, Tracey and Dak were so good together, flaws and all. Good read!

One of the best sports romances I’ve read in awhile. It focusing more on relationships and college but the added hockey and ice skating really ties this story together. I absolutely loved Dakotas character and honestly he was swoon worthy. He was an upstanding guy and loved outlander, like what more can I ask for?!? I also really enjoyed Tracey’s character and how it showed so much development through out the novel. Really well down book, reminds me of the rivalry by Nikki Sloane but with hockey instead of football.

**I received a review copy of this book in exchange for an honest voluntary review. All opinions are my own and not influenced by my source.**

This was a really cute book about learning to love again.

I loved Dakota immediately. He was so adorable in his attraction to Tracey. And the whole mix up at the start was fun to read. I wish it was strung out a little further because it was entertaining to read.

Tracey I had a harder time getting a read on. She has quite the backstory, so rightfully so, she's a bit of a mess. But I found her character to be all over the place. I'm not sure if she had maybe too much on her plate and that overwhelmed her as a character. Nevertheless, she really does have some great development though near the end so I appreciated that.

One of the really noteworthy things about these two was their communication. I loved how these two talked about their past and put everything out there early on. It helped cement a relationship of understanding to build their relationship on. However, I needed to see more of that emotional connection in the middle of the book. By that point, the focus shifts to their physical chemistry and I wanted to see that friendship/emotional connection grow more. There's no denying the heated chemistry between these two but I loved those moments of reflection and discussion we saw earlier in the book.

As for the plot, there's quite a bit that keeps throwing these two together. I really enjoyed the start because these two just kept running into each other much to Tracey's dismay. But near the middle of the book, the pacing just got a little weird for me. That was around the time their relationship becomes more physical and the rest of the story takes a backseat. But it definitely won me over by the end again.

Overall, this was a great story about learning to grow from the mistakes/troubles of past relationships and embracing new possibilities. I can't wait to read more stories from this world thanks to the little insights we get of the other characters!

Tracey Hayward is a figure skater who has just changed colleges after her personal life took a disastrous turn she was not expecting. She is a graduate student studying Marine Ecology and just wants to graduate and stay as far away from relationships as possible.
Dakota Anderson is the captain of the ice hockey team and stays as far away from serious relationships as he can after he lost Abbey. When he collides with Tracey on ice sparks fly but not necessarily in a good way.
As Tracey and Dakota are soon forced to work together for a project in a class they share will they each be able to work through their relationship issues of the past to move onto something together? Or will their respective insecurities drive them further apart?
This was a great book about moving on from the past and forgiving yourself for the mistakes you made as well as not assuming that everyone is going to be like the mistakes of your past.

Tracey was in a relationship that left her heart shattered & her reputation destroyed so she dropped out of the college she was going to, and took some time off. Her next step was to transfer into a different college where no one knew her for a fresh start, but her broken heart wasn't healed yet, so she had no intentions of ever getting into another relationship. Fate had other plans for her when she literally crashed into the hockey captain, because even though she couldn't stand his cocky attitude, the attraction wouldn't be denied. And while Cross Stroke had so much more to the plot than I typed up above, I'm a firm believer in no spoiler douchery so I'm going to just let that stand so everyone can just read it for themselves, and experience this great, yet, emotional ride that I just got off of. Tracey was really taken for a ride in her past relationship, and my heart broke for her, so I understood her walls. Dak, the hockey captain I mentioned above, had his own demons to face, so I understood him as well. But I did want to shake them both at different intervals as the push & pull got super frustrating at a certain point. However, the cast of secondaries were a breath of fresh air, as they provided the moments of humor that I needed, and I laughed hard. The twists came when Tracey's past came to light, so I was mad as hell which had color metaphors flying out of my mouth, where Dak's demons had my eyes leaking. I loved this story, and hope that Nikki gets her story next (hopefully with Dalt hint hint)! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

I don't normally write anything but I felt like it for this one
Trace's internal monologue against boys just made me eye roll every 10 sec and it got worst when she met Dak, after a moment I was like "OMG OK I GET IT! NO LOVE, NO SEX, NO BOYS!!" can we move on now?
I'm sad cause the story appealed to me, I'm a big fan of "Sports Romance" but no I hated Trace I couldn't even feel compassion for what happened to her I was like Boohoohoo poor you. In fact the whole story was a major eye roll.
Thinking about it the fact that I just finished reading Tijan's book Ryan's Bed mustn't have helped. Twin suicide against Gay boy problems don't weight the same on your life scale.
Anyway the only thing I liked was the Bambie nickname I thought it was actually cute, and it suited her and the situation, plus it changes from all the Sweetheart, Honey, Kitten and so on.
There I feel better now.
Thanks for reading.

Sweet with a lot of heart and some great humor Cross Stroke quickly had me hooked. I’ve read some fantastic college sports romances, but Cross Stroke is definitely one of the best. Between fantastic writing and a story that managed to have me laughing, swooning, and shedding an occasional tear this book was one I couldn’t put down for a second! I loved Dak and Trace!

Dak is *sigh* perfection. Arrogant, a bit of a jerk, but hiding a sweet side that absolutely melted me. Not to mention he had me cracking up more than once. Beneath that cocky exterior was a man with a huge heart that didn’t want to be broken again. When Tracey skates into his life she’s also holding a damaged heart. These two together took me threw all the emotions. I loved every second of it! The progression from enemies, to friends, and finally to one of the cutest couples ever had me glued to my kindle all day!

Tracy is a figure skater pursuing graduate studies after transferring from another college. She left behind a betrayal so deep that she just isn't sure she will ever recover from it. Dak is a college hockey player. He, too, has a tragic past that still haunts him years later. He has kept that past at bay with meaningless encounters, with those that expect nothing from him.

The hilarious banter between Trace and Dak kept me rolling though out this entire book. The chemistry between them was instant and very sweet. Both tried to avoid it at all cost, each for their own reasons, but once they got past that, Whoa! It went from sweet, to smoking in 2.5 seconds!

This book was fabulous, and the first that I've read from this author. It was well written, and very enjoyable. I was hooked from the beginning, and I can't wait to see what this author comes up with next!
