In this twisted tale there are more than just stepmothers to defeat.

Vile stepsisters and wicked, forceful Kings,

Have a chance to be defeated with the help of paws and wings.

Loved this!

Such a great and unique read! It’s a dark retelling of Cinderella.
This isn’t your ordinary fairytale. It’s more like Grimm brothers original fairytales... just darker. I really enjoyed it. It was well written and read almost like a children’s book, except it was dark and crazy and I wouldn’t recommend reading it to your children lol. There was a nice plot twist at the end that I didn’t see coming, and the character development of the main character is astounding!

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review on the authors Blog Tour.

The Lady Raven is a retelling of Cinderella with a dark twist on the classic fairytale. This book is unique and gripping and I just couldn't stop reading! This book is amazing - so detailed and well worded. The characters are captivating, especially Zezolla (Cindarella) and her beloved Raven who was such a clever character to be written into the story.
A dark and twisty read that will have yo

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

The classic tale of Cinderella takes a very dark turn in author Rebecca Henry’s The Lady Raven: A Dark Cinderella Tale. Here is the synopsis.

I so enjoyed this retelling of Cinderella. Rebecca Henry exceeded my expectations right away. Her words pull you into this world and won't let go until the very end. The plot twists at the end and it was so unpredictable. The length of this book is also perfect for readers on the go!

This was such a darkly dramatic retelling of Cinderella. It had all the aspects of Cinderella that we know and love and yet was still somehow entirely original. What I particularly enjoyed was that this retelling drew its inspiration from older versions of the tale dating back to the 1600s. We all know the original tale, we know how it ends, but with every twist the author introduced I was left worried for Zezolla’s fate. Every time I assumed that I knew where this was heading I was pleasantly s ...more

I liked this retelling of cinderella story, i enjoyed every word, every dailogue, every page of it .

The Lady Raven follows the classic story of Cinderella: littel princesse "Zezolla", her mother is murdered... an evil stepmother, a wicked stepsisters...
Zezolla is treated with cruelty, neglected, and left to serve in her own castle. The only friends she has are her beloved raven and her pet wolf.

i liked that i didn't feel like reading a cinderella story, but more in a royal univers.Though it clear

The Lady Raven is a dark Cinderella retelling that brings a new twist to the classic tale. Manipulated, used and discarded Zezolla just wants some peace and quiet in her life but of course that’s not gonna happen.

I really enjoyed seeing this side of Cinderella. The book kept a fast pace and things were constantly happening, just as I like it.

While I loved the idea of the story I felt like I was reading a first or second draft, not a finished copy. At times – especially in the beginning – the dia

I struggled a little deciding how to rate The Lady Raven. On the plus side, this is an interesting, dark retelling of the familiar Cinderella story. I liked many of Henry's changes and additions, and the pacing of the piece worked okay. What let this book down, though, was the prose. It needed a thorough edit, as there were constant instances of incorrect punctuation, repetition, and stilted dialogue. They were on every page, making them impossible to ignore, and it was therefore hard to sink in ...more

The Lady Raven is not your everyday telling of Cinderella. There are aspects that will indeed come through, however this tale... is more of the darker side of the story.
Zezolla is shown the worst side of most people and this is a story of how can she overcome all the cruelty.
I found this to be an engaging read, having a strong knowledge of several re-tellings, this one completely stands out. The story is very easy to follow while still drawing the reader in.You HAVE to know what is coming next!!

What an incredibly talented writer Rebecca is. This pulled me in from the moment Zezolla stood at her mother's grave. The Raven was such a unique spin to the story. And the wicked plan was in place to take over a kingdom. Enter the wicked stepmother and her equally wicked stepsisters. With her witchy ways, Zezolla rids herself of complications at Raven's requests. and the story becomes dark, dangerous twisted and thrilling. I will be reading this again and hopefully at Halloween.

The Lady Raven is a Cinderella retelling, but with a twist. It follows the basic storyline, but the story is so much more. Full of betrayal, murder, and magic. it's the story of Zezolla, who despite everything that happens to her, stays good. After her mother is murdered, her father remarries. But the marriage is short lived. Not long after he gets marries again, by her governess who Zezolla trusted, but is not who she seems. Life gets even more difficult for h

The Lady Raven presents a Gothic variation of the Cinderella fairy tale, re-fashioning the story’s familiar elements into a dark dream. The author builds her world with magic, helpful animals, scheming royals, and a main character that goes through the worst but fights to keep her spirit and her love.

I loved this unique take on the classic tale of Cinderella with a very dark twist. This book read like a classic fairy tale in the Brothers Grimm style, but it was way more sinister and chilling. This story had a fabulous world building and psychological depth.
I enjoyed the addition of witchcraft that took this story to a new level.
I really liked the protagonist, Princess Zezolla. She was such a beautiful soul and an incredible character! Despite all the loss, grief, terror, abuse, and cruelty

Zezolla is a princess who, despite all her riches, had a rough childhood to say the least. Abandoned by her father she ended up at the mercy of her wicked stepmother and stepsisters. This is where all your expectations of the story get subverted and all of a sudden this becomes a tantalisingly dark story of witchcraft and deception. The Lady Raven is a compelling story you can't help but be drawn into - I especially loved the inclusion of the talking raven (who is a great character!) and the emp ...more

A Cinderella retelling! How I could I resist??
Thank you Rebecca Henry for gifting us this creative and exciting book! 💕
Zezolla the princess that later is forced to become Cinderella by her wicked step sisters is actually a witch and not as innocent as you would expect!
This dark fairytale retelling has murder, adultery, witch craft and other creepy things! I read this just in time to get ready for Halloween! 🎃

"The Lady Raven: A Dark Cinderella Tale", written by Rebecca Henry is a compelling story from a fresh perspective.

What a beautiful, heartwarming, and masterfully crafted fairytale for adults! I enjoyed the story very much.

I fell in love with the main character, princess Zezolla, from the very beginning. The girl, who is of royal blood and with magical powers suffers so severely that she could quickly become a cruel, hateful person and destroy everyone who is standing in her way - however, every

Henry's fantasy delves into the darker end of the spectrum within the Cinderella trope.
There are also elements from Shakespeare's: Macbeth and Hamlet.
A fun touch, Henry, uses the same names used in the 1950's animated Disney classic for her villainess and her cat.
