Splendid Samplers To Cross-Stitch: 35 Original Projects

Rate this book
"Well-designed projects, some contemporary and some traditional...using 18th- and 19th-century motifs....All are charted in black-and-white with DMC and Anchor thread keys, lists of materials, and good color photographs of the finished samplers. They are embroidered in traditional cross stitch with very little backstitch outlining...a good example of American sampler design in an area of craft books that is usually dominated by European imports."--LJ. 144 pages (73 in color), 67 b/w illus., 8 1/2 x 11.

Patterns are black and white and reproduced in a very small size that is difficult to read even under magnification.

I liked many of the natural designs in this book. Really well done. However...the black and white charts are AWFUL. I'm not sure if making them bigger would help much, either.

Meh...there were quite a few spot samplers included and they're not my favourite kind of sampler. Most seemed rather dated (and not in a good way).
