Cute story. I have not watched the Sunny Day show. I picked this up at the library to read with one of the little girls I work with who went through a Sunny Day phase recently. She enjoyed it, especially when Rox and Blair got stuck together.
Overall, this was a good book. This is a Step 1 book, recommended for preschool to kindergarten readers. It uses big text, simple words, and picture clues to aid in reading for beginners.
The story itself was good. I liked the out-of-the-box thinking and focus on working together. The pictures were pretty good as well. I was a little confused why the "super-sticky hair stray" was a gel/liquid rather than a "spray". Some of the artwork was reused (all of the ballerinas at the end are the same picture with different skin colors), but I don't think a young reader would really mind/notice.
This book is based on the 1st episode of the children's television show Sunny Day. Granted, the story doesn't offer much, but if you've got a Sunny Day fan like my little one is, this book will surely bring a smile to their face. Clear & concise language; large text as always with these early readers. Same great illustrations as the TV show.
They love this one, probably because there are stickers in the back of the book. They each get one after we've finished reading it and they can stick it anywhere in their room. Really hoping the stickers will come off the walls and bed frame one day...
It's your typical early reader - simple words, with a not particularly wonderful story. Thankfully, it's short.
