Really good book

This book was as good as the first. This is one of the few writers from whom I expect the best. Good writing, great characters, a fine story and lots of surprises.

This series is full of drama, tension and still has room for humor. Well-written and well told. I was surprised by a lot of big reveals and developments in the story and think that more are coming in the series.

The characters and dialogue are just as good as the first book. The interactions

Crazy good

Really makes you work for that payoff at the end, but darn it if it wasn't worth it! Definitely worth your time, get reading!

Blazing originality in a super series finale, complete with the Loch Ness Monster

My thanks to author Felix R. Savage for an ARC of The Nuclear Druid. This voluntary review is strictly my own opinion. I'M BLOWN AWAY! I have never read a book as engrossing, and as challenging, as The Nuclear Druid. Colm MacKenzie resumes his role as the inadvertent last champion of Earth in humanity's stand against an alien superpower. Supported by an expanded cast of characters, most of whom first app

I was graciously given an ARC from the author

"The Chemical Mage" ended with a bang, and "The Nuclear Druid" picked up that thread immediately. Savage dives right into the story and the reader is off with Colm Mackenzie fighting for his life with Dhjerga Lizp. Wait, what? Lizp is a ghost, and Colm is ready to fight. Then he remembers that Lizp is not a ghost copy, but an original, who just happens to be helping Colm as he tries to save humanity. That is one of the first of many twists

I absolutely loved The Chemical Mage and have eagerly been waiting for its sequel. Well, let me tell you, The Nuclear Druid was more than worth the wait. I’ve read other books by Frank R. Savage before (his Earth’s Last Gambit series is a particular favorite), so I know he’s “got the goods” when it comes to writing talent. He certainly showed that here. Colm Mackenzie is a fantastic leading character, flaws and imperfections, drives and learning curve, basic humanity and extraordinariness. Wow. ...more

I thought Chemical Mage was good but Nuclear Druid was even better. I liked the mix of scifi and "magic". I liked that the story followed multiple characters to make a great story even better especially as they all contributed to this amazing series. There were more battle scenes and Colm being Colm. I also got to learn more of the history and what led up to the Ghosts and why they all looked human. I read it all in one siting as once I started it I was hooked and had to see how it would end. This was an amazing book! Lots of hard choices were made and a lot of change for humanity are to come. Survival is the theme of this book. Colm is a survivor!

This two book series is an ambitious blend of science fiction and fantasy/horror but then you wouldn't expect anything less from Savage. Does it work? Almost. Is it a good read? Absolutely. Book 1 is mostly space opera with very light elements of horror and just the hint of the fantasy parts to come. The first part of book 2 was the best part for me where the world building is at its finest with the various alien worlds and how they work brought to life. The second part of book 2 is where it plu ...more

The Science has Left the Fiction

Book one was intriguing. Book two started OK. Then started to veer off the rails. By the end of the book there was nothing
holding the story together. Too many beings occupying the same moment in time, in different dimensions over thousands of years?

WOW, I thought I disliked Colm in book 1 but he will learn and get better in book 2, but boy was I wrong. There's a lot of hole in book 2 and the ending was disappointing. Also, the Mages murdered millions of people across the galaxy but it's ok because he did it for his son? What a load of crap.

Really enjoyed this book. It took me a minute to get into the first book but once I got to the end I was hooked. The second book ties it all together while the author deftly wraps magic, science and myth into a very compelling science fiction story!

NOT Hard SciFi

This is a fantasy book full of faeries, druids and magic that takes place in a universe filled with spaceships and aliens. Whether you find that to be an intriguing blend or a silly muddle will determine how much you enjoy the series.

Odd timing and continuity.

Jumped around too much in this second book, half the time, I wondered if I missed something towards the end.
