A very cute spin on 10 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed. We adored 10 Little Ninjas. The illustrations are wonderful. This is my son’s favorite book right now. It’s cute, rhyming, and full of fun characters! I love how each page is a new imaginative adventure the children go on, before nodding off to bed.

I was skeptical about this book. I thought it would be a simple counting book and well below my daughter's reading level. But it's funny, cute, has great illustrations, and (this mama's favorite part) it introduces your kids to lots of cool vocabulary. Words like dozed, struggling, swooped, trekking, thwacked, revving, and zooming mean my little reader is learning while having fun and imagining her self in every scene. It's a book your kiddo can grow with and share with their kid sister. Some children's books are fun and silly and some are smart and your kids learn from. The best, like this one, do both.

Counting picture book starting with 10 ninjas in the rhyming of Ten Little Monkeys..., but in this tale, the kids are different things on every page/number.

This is a delightful little story that was genuinely fun to read as an adult and perfect for kids. 10 Little Ninjas captures that bedtime battle so many parents know well—get the ninjas, astronauts, tigers, cowboys, and more into bed—but wraps it in a playful counting format that kids will adore. The story moves smoothly, the rhythm works for read-aloud, and the characters are charmingly mischievous in a way that makes both parent and child smile.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book was more of a 3.5 star for me, but, my 6 year old loved it and made me read it a couple times, so it got bumped to a 4. Fans of 5 Little Monkeys and 10 Little Monkeys and so on will recognize the formula. For this book though, it changes with the number from ninjas to race car drivers to pirates and so on. Some of the rhymes were either clunky or repetitive in their efforts to rhyme. Illustrations were cute and it would be good for a fan of the 'monkeys jumping on the bed'.

*I read a digital ARC of this book from the publisher.

A most enjoyable play on the "Five Little Monkey's Jumping on the Bed" Rhyme. The lyrics and illustrations are adorable and fun.

According to the publisher, "10 Little Ninjas will take young readers from playtime to bedtime again and again."
For sure, the writing by Miranda Paul is catchy and clever. Equally clever are her illustrations. I'd describe them as "Whimsical, but with a ton of attitude."
But are those bouncy, adventurous ninja exploits going to help a kid head toward slumber?
I'm skeptical.
Sure, I'm giving this book FIVE STARS. Meanwhile, here's a typical quote. Goodreader, does this kind of thing make you want to doze off?
9 tiny astronauts zooming in the dark --
one tried to land and
missed the mark.
Daddy called the pilot
and the pilot barked,
"No more astronauts
zooming in the dark."

Fractured 5 little monkeys featuring little imaginative kids sneaking out of bed (as ninjas, astronauts, etc.) Daddy calls mommy each time to be the boss appropriate to each imagined scenario. Counts from 10 to 1 as kids fall asleep. Nice variety of rhymes/near rhymes keep it rollicking along.
“6 rowdy cowboys lassoing the rails—one loop swooped and, whoops! It failed. Daddy called the sheriff and the sheriff wailed, “No more cowboys lassoing the rails.”

I fun take on "5 Little Monkeys" utilizing children's imagination. Do have one problem though..... why is it that the 'daddy' in the story always has to be the one to get the 'mommy' to be the 'bad guy'? Why no equal division of the disciplinarian role? My spouse enjoyed that it bugged me though.

July 2, 2019A little bit disappointing, because the title of this book gives the allusion that the book is about ninjas. However, only the first page speaks of ninjas, then goes on to count down with cowboys, sharks, tigers, firefighters, etc.

This rhyming counting book features a countdown to bedtime with 10 ninjas finding all sorts of exciting ways to avoid going to sleep. Cute illustrations of the dastardly little darlings and their assorted antics.

Like this variation on "5 Little Monkeys." I feel sorry for those parents though...

This bedtime story is the whole enchilada. It's got ninjas, Racecar drivers, Cowboys, sharks, firefighters, and pirates!

This is fun! A fun twist on "No more monkeys jumping on the bed!'
Fun, well illustrated! CUTE!

I would have liked it better if the mom and dad had rotate in the "no more...!" role; having the mom be the "bad guy" on every page got tiring.

A fun little kid's book that is a take off of 10 little monkeys. They weren't just ninjas. They were astronauts, sharks, firemen, and lots more. Mom got them all in bed. Eventually.
July 30, 2020
the examples are a bit of a stretch and why is the mom the one in charge and the dad is doing jack?

Much kid appeal in this colorful, lively, diverse counting book, a spin-off of "no more monkeys sleeping in the bed".

Quirky and cute spin on the monkeys jumping on the bed.

An energetic picture book about 10 children avoiding bedtime that is similar to "Ten Little Monkey Jumping on a Bed" rhyme. The rhyming is uneven while the illustrations are bold and colorful. A lively preconcept picture book.

I'm happy to participate in Multicultural Children's Book Day for the second straight year. This year I was sent 10 Little Ninjas by Miranda Paul and Nate Wragg courtesy of Alfred A. Knopf books. What a fun take on a familiar story that makes for a great interactive read aloud that provides plenty of opportunity for role play and imagination.

A good read for bedtime. The race car page has a spacing issue that made me mess up my rhyme. Had to go back and double check that it did, in fact, rhyme. But once you k ow to watch out for that, it makes a great read aloud. Both my 6 and 2 year old liked it. Bonus points for representation of skin tones and genders. No dividing the kids up into dragons and princesses, they all get to be dragons.
