Nikki grew up in Boulder, Colorado on the standard American diet, although sitting down to a home cooked meal every night. She battled body issues ranging from severe acid reflux and taking a high dose of prescription medication at 13, to being given accutane three times for bad skin, to insomnia over the course of her young adult life. Having little knowledge in nutrition, she attributed these to being "normal" and kept taking more pills to temporarily solve the issues. None of these issues stopped her from her dream of modeling, which she pursued starting at the age of 16 and continued throughout college.
After graduating with honors from the University of Northern Colorado with a B.A. in Communications and Journalism, she chose to do what so many dream of: modeling around the world. This job took her across the globe to be the face of campaigns in cities such as Sydney, Bangkok, Shanghai, Athens, London, New York, Seoul, and Los Angeles.

I couldn't wait to read this book. After reading The 5-day real food detox I learned so much about food. This book has so many tips,substitutes for non meat eaters and easy recipes. The tips range from what type of food to freeze to eating out healthier. I plan my meals out every Sunday with my fiancé. This book is going to help us with finding new and easy recipes.It took me a while to finish this book because it has a lot of information. This is not a diet book. It is going to help me with my healthier lifestyle. I would recommend this book for someone who is looking to start meal prep and is looking for a book with a lot of information.
This is a tell-all book in regards to mastering meal prep. The recipes are all super easy to make with fresh ingredients and taste and look delicious! My favorite parts are the chart detailing how long foods last refrigerated so there is no food waste and the grocery lists. The book takes the guess work out of what to buy at the grocery store and what to make when you get home. It makes meal prepping easy and fun without eating the same boring meal every day. The best part...Nikki even includes delicious, healthy desserts. You can't go wrong with this book! Check it out! You won't be disappointed!
I really thought the layout of this book was very beneficial because all the information you need to achieve the 28 day weight loss cleanse/diet is presented very well. Grocery lists and recipes are all provided. The reason I gave this one only 3 stars is because a lot of the recipes weren't appealing to me and were too strict and used some ingredients I'm not used to. This discouraged me from giving it a try. For me, I think I need something like this but something that eases me into it and has recipes that are healthy, but also familiar. Maybe healthier versions of classic comfort food meals. This is a great resource for someone to give a try, but for others this might really be pushing it. I'm up for a challenge, but a more realistic one for myself.
How many amazing things can I say about this book?! Do yourself a favour and buy it right now. I've been following Nikki online for a few years now. I love her positive attitude toward life and helping others through healthy eating/living. I've done her detox a few times over the past few years and have felt my absolute BEST on it. Knowing how tasty, satisfying and healthy the recipes are in the detox, getting her newest book was a no brainer for me. And wow ... I'm so happy I have it! I've already made 5 recipes and I'm blown away by how delicious and EASY they are to make. They're ordinary ingredients prepared simply, but with a bang. My friends have loved them all as well. I can't recommend this book enough. And get the 5 Day Detox while you're at it! I can't wait to try the other recipes ... I have so many ear marked. And not only is everything delicious, but her tips on meal prepping are amazing, and I've already implemented some. I'm also an emotional eater, and the chapter on that subject has helped me rethink eating in an even more positive way. This is much, much more than your average cookbook. It's the whole package. I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could!
This book is for anyone that wants to simply feel better! I've struggled with stomach issues for years, and Nikki's knowledge of both food benefits, and their relationships in perfect harmony have helped me significantly reduce discomfort. Her step by step instructions are so easy to follow, and once you get the hang of it, can be replicated in no time.
One major surprise to me is that I am never hungry following her mealplans plans. Even those days where I've worked out hard and think there is no way these meals will sustain me, the way she balances proteins, grains & superfoods, and is flexible with snacks has helped me feel nourished and energized the whole time. As a big love of all things chocolate, Nikki's tips and tricks for changing a mindset are what I 've have been extremely valuable as well.

Another amazing book by Nikki Sharp! Her 5 day detox book changed the way I thought about food and now this book just keeps it going! She is super honest about her life and struggles with food, which makes this book feel more like a friend talking to you than someone trying to sell you on a new food trend. She goes into detail about everything, the whys, the whats, and hows! You never are left to wondering why a certain thing is good for you! She gives you a shopping list and new recipes for every week! I just started on week one and let me tell you the recipes are soooooo delicious! I can't wait to try them all! This book will really change the way you think about food and say goodbye to dieting!You start to think of things as a new life style!
If you have ever wanted to know how people make those beautifully organized photos of meal prepping, then this book is for you! She couldn't have spelled it out anymore clearly. I've been an aspiring nutritionist for years and still I learned so much from Nikki's book. It's an easy read!
-i did not like this book. its vegetarian, even though it doesnt say that. i'm not interested in eating a plant based diet.
-the first week of recipes is soups and smoothies, week two is fiber up. week three is protein power. week four is detox. i'm most DEFINITELY NOT interested in starving, cleansing, and detoxing my way thru life. thats not maintainable.
-multiple chapters on all the 'super' foods. super ingredients, super vegetables, super fruits, super grains, super herbs and spices, and super beverages. i'm not interested in tracking down baobab powder, chlorella, maca powder, spirulina, wheatgrass, bee pollen, and cacao nibs.
-the super grains seemed interesting, except she just tosses them in with salad greens and some veggies.
-too many salad recipes.
(i put all the meal prep cookbooks on reserve at the library. this book was chosen because it had meal prep in the title, not for the weight loss topic.)
I have enjoyed Nikki’s recipes for the last 6 years and this book is no different! It gives you so much insight into who Nikki is which was very captivating to read. And then the food! She brings in some specialty ‘super’ foods and does a great job explaining what they are and do and esspecially how to incorporate them into your meals! The weekly meal preps are so easy to follow and great because she leaves room for you to stray a little from the recipe if you feel you want to. This is a great book and I cannot reccomend it enough!
This book will change the way you see food. As someone who has struggled with emotional eating, binging and fasting, this book is more helpful than I can put into words. It changed my relationship with food. Nikki makes meal prepping easy and enjoyable. Her recipes are delicious, her knowledge is endless, and the book is just a great resource all around. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone!
