Can a monster find love? In 1718, he was abandoned then betrayed, spurring his relentless desire for revenge against his creator, Victor Frankenstein. It is now the 21st Century, and despite his fervent wish for death, he still exists, tortured by his crimes, searching only for peace. Angela Ellis would have frozen to death in the harsh Alaskan wilderness if not for the man who found her on an icy ledge. He calls her Angel, but has no name himself. He is kind, caring, handsome, and scarred both outside and inside. The more she learns about him, the more she wants to know…and the more she falls in love. He is unworthy of love unless he can confess, but his secrets are buried deep and to reveal them would be to rip out his soul and lose his Angel. Unfortunately, he is given no say in the matter. Nature has a way of revealing all.
Lexi Post is a New York Times and USA Today best-selling author of romance inspired by the classics. She spent years in higher education taking and teaching courses about the classical literature she loved. From Edgar Allan Poe's short story “The Masque of the Red Death” to Tolstoy’s War and Peace, she's read, studied, and taught wonderful classics.
But Lexi's first love is romance novels. In an effort to marry her two first loves, she started writing romance inspired by the classics and found she loved it. From hot paranormals to sizzling cowboys to hunks from out of this world, Lexi provides a sensuous experience with a “whole lotta story.”
Lexi is living her own happily ever after with her husband and her cat in Florida. She makes her own ice cream every weekend, loves bright colors, and you will never see her without a hat.
"Your scars are beautiful to me. They are like mine, proof that we survived…that we were fated for one another…they are proof that you healed my scarred heart.”
Lexi Post’s “Heart of Frankenstein” is an absolutely beautiful romance filled with hope. Hope to be accepted, to be loved, to be forgiven. The hero in this story is one that has been abandoned by all, tormented through the ages, and goes through life just existing. Never feeling the cold Alaskan wilderness around him, and forever feeling the heartache of loneliness…that is until fate would have him look out over his mountain and find his Angel.
Angela Ellis is out to have the adventure of her life. Taking a tour of the Alaskan wilds, she wonders too far off, and is overtaken by the cold elements. Lost and on the verge of dying, she is rescued by someone that is like no one she has ever met. Angela is determined to find the secrets hidden to this man’s lonely existence, and why he sees himself as repulsive. "Beauty was more than skin deep and he had a beautiful soul, but even his body was more beauty than damage.”
Fate can be both wonderful and cruel. Will it finally grant our hero a reprieve from his tormented immortality by giving him someone to love? Someone that will love him? Or will his monstrous image rear itself to take away his soul…his heart...his Angel.
Dear reader, I absolutely loved this story. The hero is now on my book boyfriend list. I can’t recommend this story enough!!
Interesting and fresh concept - I was unsure what to expect when i started reading this one. As I am totally not into the old concept of Frankenstein it was a gamble . But now I am in love with it after I finished it ... I was able to ignore the original concept of Frankenstein but I have to say it was a real unique approach and as there was a moment when a tear threatend to fall this made the 5 star level
I have always enjoyed Lexi Post, but I totally HEART her after this novel!
Frankie is my favorite "creature of old", because I always identified with his feelings of being an unloved, unwanted misfit who can't seem to find his place in the world. His story has always tugged at my heart. Angel is the "me" I have always imagined I would be were I ever to meet Frankie (theoretically speaking, of course). She sees the beauty within Frankie and loves him unconditionally. She shows him the warmth of human kindness. She fills the dark void within him with light and hope, even though he tries to reject seeing the goodness within himself and refuses to admit that he is worthy of such love and devotion. Frankie's self-doubt, self-recrimination and lack of self-worth combined with his deep-seated desire for love, understanding and acceptance and his soul deep ache of loneliness simply shattered me. But, Angel is his saving grace, and the symbolism of her name was not lost on me.
I love how Lexi Post figuratively picks up all of the jagged, broken pieces of Frankie, Angel, and even myself, and puts them back together in a beautifully-mismatched hodgepodge, as only she can do.
*I received a complimentary ARC of this story in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
Wow what and amazing story! This was an extraordinary story. Completely well written and thought through. I so would love to read more about them. This is Angela or Angel's story as he calls her. He is Frankenstein’s creation. I would say monster but he is far from what Mary Shelley wrote about. To think that whole story could be real. When he finds her almost frozen to death he swears he has found an angel. She is in bad shape and totally depending on him. But she is enamored with him even though he worries she's going to be afraid of him. So he tries very hard to hide his scars. But she still sees them without him knowing. And she is not afraid, she doesn't think him a monster and most of all she loves him. But every time she asked him his name he doesn't answer her. You see Victor never gave him a name. But the good folks around town have. She still doesn't know until one fateful day that he is in mortal. And when she finds something that really scares her. And she runs thankfully her brother is in town and she finds him. But will she be able to overcome her fear and go back to the only man she's ever loved. Oh if you want to find out his name you're going to have to read to find out because every Alaskan Bushman has a name, but they have earned it. The trick is getting them to tell you how the earned said name. Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book, please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it when you do; they value your opinions too.
I was honored to be one of the proofers for this wonderful book, Heart of Frankenstein, by Lexi Post. I was captivated. And I can't stop thinking about it. I keep thinking about psychological issues of how a person could have good mental and emotional health after all that time of isolation and so much rejection. I keep thinking about how a woman who craved adventure in far-flung locals could be content in such a remote and limited existence. Then I think about how unconditional love and acceptance really can be miraculous and transformative, on both sides. This story is magical, earthy, sensual and intriguing, and even humorous at times. Ms. Post has stitched together the elements of her story with nary a scar. She has tapped into the archetypal theme of Beauty and the Beast, riffing off of Mary Shelley's dark tale. But every artist puts their own stamp on their creation and Lexi Post's incarnation is a worthy addition to the collective.
Wow wow and WOW! I have never given much thought to what happened after Mary Shelley's Frankenstein novel; but man! What a story this one took! I loved it from beginning to end! The monster survives in the frozen wilderness for centuries, waiting for his punishment of immortality for his sins to come to an end. Then the impossible happens -- he finds a frozen angel by chance near his home. Not really an angel --- just a lost tourist with a heart of gold. Angel (aka, Angela) and Sas (aka Frankenstein monster) are both amazing people and I could not stop reading this. I bought this book on a whim yesterday --- a suggestion from another author I follow --- and and I finished the following day. I could only put it down b/c my real life got in the way 😗 This is definitely a book that I will re-read again in the future!!! Xoxo
*you have to read the book to find out why he is called Sas 😋
THE HEART OF FRANKENSTEIN is a retelling of an old classic about Frankenstein’s monster, but this tale takes the readers into the twentieth-first century where the monster, Sas, is now living alone in the harsh Alaskan wilderness alone until one day he rescues a woman from an icy ledge. She reminds him a fallen angel, and he names her Angel. Instead of being a monster on killing spree, the readers see a lonely and compassionate Sas taking care of Angel and her needs, thus falling in love.
Lexi Post retells this classic story with a paranormal twist of Sas experiencing love for the first time. I am deeply moved by his character finding love and redemption. It is a sensual tale to take an in-depth look into the soul of a monster, his heart finding love, making this a heartwarming conclusion about a monster finding what he longs to achieve: being a man.
I loved this line and I know I won't be the only one: Your scars are beautiful to me. They are like mine, proof that we survived.... This was a retelling of Frankenstein, although a few hundred years later into the present day. He's alone, living in the wilds of Alaska when an angel who needs help captures his heart. This is book of feels, the hero is an innocent yet worldly man...or is he a man? Unconditional love, is it real? I kept thinking this story cannot end well with 2 such different characters but the author is brilliant, it wrapped up so well, I love a good HEA. The story was well written and kept me glued to my kindle. I loved these amazing characters, so unique and beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and hope you love it as much as I did.
Heart of Frankenstein by Lexi Post This is Angela “Angel” Ellis and Sas’ story.
Oh my goodness!! This story grips you from the start to the end with an amazing emotional ride. The author created a story with so many layers and characters with depth. At times I cried because I could feel the pain or the happiness of the characters. I don’t think that I can fully explain how emotional, sensual, and entertaining this book was to me. I’ve read over 300 books this year and this will be one that sticks with me and will reread.
In my opinion this is a must read! I hope you enjoy Angel and Sas’ emotional journey as much as I did.
FYI, contains mature and graphic content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Heart Of Frankenstein by Lexi Post is an outstanding contemporary romance with a sci-fi/paranormal twist. Ms. Post has given readers not only a well-written book, but a story that will keep you glued to your e-reader. The cast of characters in this book are absolutely stellar. Sas is living in the wilderness of Alaska. Angela is on vacation in Alaska when she wanders away from her group and gets lost. Sas and Angela's story is packed with drama, humor, sizzle, action and suspense. I loved every page of Heart Of Frankenstein and look forward to my next book by Lexi Post. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Heart of Frankenstein by Lexi Post is an absolutely amazing book. This unique romantic twist on the old Frankenstein story is fresh and exciting. Full of raw emotions that ensnare you in this passionate and complex story. It is a beautiful tale of pain and loss, hope and love and of a beast and beauty. It is a story of terrible cruelty and suffering and then the miracle of finding peace and love. This book is sure to touch your heart with it's entertaining story and engaging characters. I am posting an honest review after reading an ARC copy of this book.
Wow! I will never think of Frankenstein without remembering Lexi's Heart of Frankenstein. I was intrigued from the very beginning and it didn't dissapoint. What an incredible journey from start to finish. Sas finding Angel and caring for her, with enough facts to make it believable , the subsisting way of life in parts of Alaska, the people who really do live there. All I know is when I got to the end, it was like I was waking up from that world back to my own.
I'll never be able to watch any Frankenstein films again without thinking of this book. (It has added a whole new dimension to Young Frankenstein - lol. This is a beautiful love story of a selfless giant of a man finding & taking care of a woman in Alaska. You can almost feel the cold & snow, & smell the trees & food. (Where was the ice cream ?). Absolutely Loved It . So not my usual romance read but some thing that will stay with me for a long time. Totally recommend this if you looking something a little different.
I don’t know how Ms. Post reads a classic book like Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and then spins it into this marvelous tale. I have said before, this is not my normal genre, but I get sucked into a captivating world that Ms Post creates and just can’t leave. All I can say is superb – storytelling at its finest!
This was a great October read! I liked this twist on Frankenstein's Monster. It was very sweet and the themes in this books were about redemption and forgiveness. I had a hard time connecting with Angel though. Sas was an amazing book hero and my heart went out to him. Would have loved to see and epilogue that was set maybe a couple of years later!
I've had this book on my "want to read" list for so long! But I couldn't make it past the first chapter. The dialog was stilted and awkward and the writing was... how should I put this... 🤔 not the quality I expected.
Maybe I just hyped the book up too much in my head before reading. I tend to do that a lot. Anyway... this is a DNF for me. 😔
I loved this book, Lexi gives a wonderful new twist on the Frankensteins monster while I think maintaining the best of Mary Shelly. This book has so many layers and at a few points, it had me in tears. I love Lexi Post's books and the Heart of Frankenstein was no exception.
I loved this twist on the Frankenstein story! The characters were wonderfully developed. Sas and Angel's journey to happily ever after grabs the reader and doesn't let go until the last word. I loved it!!!
I really enjoyed this book! Well written with characters that I couldn't help but love. I. I'm used to reading fast paced storylines so it took me a minute to get used to the slower pace of this book. Once into the story, I couldn't put it down. #LexiPost nailed it!
