the thing about these books is they were great when I was commuting daily and served as a great vehicle to avoid eye contact on the bus or train

Rendezvous - Update: Read again 03/07/26: I feel I was too harsh in my previous review. Not in regard to the romance because Harry is one of the worst AQ/JAK heroes I have read (not as bad as the rapist Conn from Legacy), but because the story was engaging and fun. Plus I liked the friendships and family connections. I wish we had seen more of Pompeia. When we got to Harry’s estate, being that this is a reread and I knew Harry was a lost cause, I found myself appreciating the friendship formed with the tutor (Harry’s relative) rather than the antagonist relationship you would more commonly see. Eugenia took her under her wing and empowered her. I also liked the relationship with Harry’s daughter and how she was allowed to come to terms with Eugenia’s presence (no thanks to Harry) and accept her as her mother when she was ready. So I would say that this book is actually good, and if it wasn’t a romance it would have been 4 stars. However, the previous score I gave it was too low, so it’s 3 stars now. 3 stars ⭐⭐⭐
Update 02/02/25: I have finished this and I do understand why I originally dnf'd this. The Hero is pretty awful and unlikeable. I spent most of the book wondering why he married he if her if he didn't like her personality. I mean by the end it's sort of explained why he acted the way he did (sorta) but it didn't seem good enough to me. I mean the fact that he was essentially punishing her and his daughter for his first wife's behaviour did not endear the character to me. Quick note: othe Northumberland Ballingers thing didn't annoy me. 2 Stars.
Original review: I started this book a year ago and had to dnf at 50% as I just couldn't stand the hero.
Ravished - 18/01/25: Not bad. I preferred Deception by this author but this book was still better than Rendezvous which I couldn't finish. I was a little bored in the first half of the book but the story did pick up and I did end up enjoying it overall. It's nothing new but still was fun.3.5 stars.
Reckless - 22/01/25: I enjoyed this one! I initially found the hero to be odious but he did end up growing on me. I also liked Phoebe and found her to be a fun character. The story was a little silly but I still found it to be entertaining. I did like the ending bit with Nial (Or was it Neil?)/Baxter getting his comeuppance. Also that there was understanding of Alice's actions. 4 stars.
I'll end this review when I read and review Reckless. I'll also give the Omnibus an overall rating.
Update 23/01/24: As I said above I was going to give an overall rating for this omnibus after finishing Reckless but I have decided to add Rendezvous back to my randomiser wheel and give it a second chance. I'll rate the whole book after finishing Rendezvous (or not) as I enjoyed Reckless more than I expected.
Overall: I'm going to be passing on my copy of this book but will purchase a copy of Reckless because I really did like that one. Otherwise this omnibus was a bit or a hit or miss for me.

I enjoyed this book. Harry and Augusta were good together, though I must agree with Harry that she said her family's name WAY too often lol.
