This intriguing volume in the Cahill series was taut with suspense and included a generous dollop of second chance romance. There were several compelling mysteries to solve and secrets to reveal. The evidence was muddled concerning the incredibly naïve Drey being set-up, gaslighted, or losing her mind, and although I had strong suspicions as to who was behind her tribulations, I couldn’t discern the why. And I loved that. Ms. Daniels has skillfully penned a crazy good mystery as her writing kept ...more

I've read a lot of B.J. Daniels and loved them. The Montana Cahill's Series started off really good, but just hasn't lived up to its' full potential. This story of Hawk and Drey started out rather strangely and ended with the requisite HEA, but, overall, there was a lot of repetition and several TSTL moments along with a lot of "that just doesn't happen".

BJ Daniels has done it again! I should have realised what an intriguing, fast paced romantic suspense this would turn out to be - a really enthralling page turner, IMHO. It features Hawk, one of the Cahill brothers, and his first love ‘Drey’ - Deidre Hunter. They were together throughout their teens but split after tragedy and misunderstandings

Nope. Nope. Nope.

Reading this book is like being dropped into the middle of a really long, boring conversation with three people you haven't seen in ten years; and you really didn't like them ten years ago. You have no idea who or what they're talking about but they keep repeating information over and over again, louder and with hand waving, thinking that might help you understand. Characters just start having drama and there's no set up; no introduction. The two love interests have a history, b

Negative stars, if I could (and the *only* reason I finished it was that it was for book club). I have so many complaints about this book. I feel like there were fundamental misunderstandings about so many things (mental health! geography! cooking! adults with any sense of agency! technology! small towns! how federal investigations work!). Additionally, there was a lot of repetition, it didn't pick up until about 70% into it, I didn't care about any of the characters, and what was with that adop ...more

I was not expecting this book to be honest. I thought it was going to be a sweet cowboy romance and it was not at all what I thought it would be but I'm gonna be real with you, I don't remember reading the blurb because it is pretty telling... anyway this book was refreshing. It was a romantic suspense with more suspense than romance but still enough to keep me satisfied. I don't read anything without a little romance in it.

Some of the events in the book kinda of creeped me
A brilliantly concocted masterpiece!

Turning, she saw a crow staring at her from the balcony with its beady little dark eyes. The bird flapped its silken ebony wings at her and hopped to the chair closest to the open door. Wasn’t there some superstition about crows and death?

Rancher’s Dream by B.J. Daniels is a brilliantly concocted masterpiece of western romantic suspense. It is the sixth installment in the author’s Montana Cahills series. However, this tale works very well as a standalone read

I really enjoyed this book. It started out very different than I expected. This is my first B.J. Daniels book. I was hooked from the first page. I loved the twists and the unexpected things that happened in this book. It was almost like a mystery book with some romance. And that romance was a second chance romance which I just love! Hawk is my dream guy. He was so sweet and I loved that no matter what anyone said he loved Drey and knew who she was. He never doubted her. I loved how simple Drey w ...more

I love the Cahill! Hawk and Drey's story was just plain amazing. After a bad misunderstanding when they were younger Hawk and Drey break up and go their separate ways. Drey tries to move on and marries another man knowing that she is still in love with Hawk. There is enough mystery and danger in this story you will be on the edge of your seat with your heart pounding till the very end.

An enjoyable book but at times quite obvious in where it was going. Though it is new, I kept getting the occasional impression I had read it before. Difficult to not have that happen when you write prolifically.

I've been following the Montana Cahills series for some time and given it mixed reviews, and I'm afraid that will hold true for this sixth title in the series as well, since it felt far more like a traditional gothic novel than a contemporary novel of romantic suspense, and I'm giving it 3-stars.

To begin with, what rancher and which dream? I imagine that the title refers to Hawk Cahill's dream of a happy life with the woman he loved and lost, but although he's mentioned quite often, he really is

Oh my lanta have I found yet another author to binge read? Yes comrades I do believe I have! I am completely blown away, I am in love! This was one of those fast paced, really feel good swoonage kind of reads that makes me love romance genre.

I have a few confessions too… while we are at it! Firstly I went into this thinking I would get nothing but a full on cowboy swoon romance, whi

In this book we have Drey newly married to Ethan Baxter, a wealthy businessman from New York City. She married him in the hopes she could leave Gilt Edge, and Hawk Cahill behind. Her groom has other plans and tells her on their wedding night that they'll be living in Gilt Edge after all in this garish mansion he's built that fits more in a neighborhood of skyscrapers than it does in Montana ranch country.

Disappointed, Drey is determined to make the best of her new life. The dream doesn't last l

Holy cow! Could B.J. Daniels have packed more fun, romance or intrigue into this novel!? This is a story that grabbed me from the opening line and kept me engaged the entire 363 pages! As with the other Montana Cahill books, this was about one of the brothers: Hawk and his long-time love Deidre Hunter.
Hawk and ‘Drey’ had been together since school days, always planning on marrying. But tragedy and mistrust collided and tore them apart. Now, Drey is marrying a rich businessman and planning on

I cannot begin to say how much I loved this book! I could not put it down, but I had to - to sleep, to eat, etc.! I sure didn't want to though! As it was, I read it in 2 days and when I came to the end, I let out a long sigh..... B.J. Daniels has done it again. I don't know how some people couldn't just love this book! It has so many roller coaster moments that I was turning the pages as fast as I could! I'm not going to retell the story but Drey and Hawk have been a couple for years and then tr ...more

I received a copy of RANCHER'S DREAM from the Author and Publisher via Netgalley for an honest review.

This story is the second of the Cahill brothers from Gilt Edge Montana that I have read. Both have been full of suspense with a twist of romance. Rancher's Dream is definitely filled with suspense.

Our heroine, Drey is swept up into a whirlwind romance and finds herself married to a billionaire to get away from long time love Hawk Cahill. Hawk broke her heart and Drey thought she would never fi

This a story about second chances and B.J. Daniels does it very well!!!

Drey and Hawk have a long history together but she is now married to another man, Ethan, who is mega-rich and has built a house in Drey's hometown.

They have the wedding and Ethan brings her to their home, that she has never even been in before and then disappears on their wedding night. Then Jet, Ethan's brother, who Drey has never heard of shows up.

Drey thinks she is losing her mind. She starts having hallucinations, she
Rancher’s Dreams by B.J. Daniels is a tale of lost love and missed chances while missing characters and wild events swirl. It is part of a series called the Montana Cahills, but I have not read any of others. I am grateful to Harlequin for sending me the book to review.

Drey met and married Ethan rather quickly and was disappointed to hear that her new life in NYC was not going to happen. He bought a house in her hometown (a gaudy nightmare of a house) and wanted to settle there. The worst part i

Mountain Crest, or as the citizens of Gilt Edge, Montana call it, Baxter's Folly, is to be her new home. Deidre "Drey" Hunter's new husband "surprises" her with this announcement at their wedding reception. Drey was looking forward to living in her new husband's penthouse apartment in New York City. Ethan's decision was quite a disappointment. What was worse - her husband disappears on her wedding night. And this house seems to be sinister and even cursed. Is someone watching Drey? B J Daniels is my favorite Harlequin romance writer. But then again, hers are the only books in this genre that I read. I enjoy the sibling relationships at the heart of the Montana Cahill series and the way each character's story is featured in a book and then reappears with updates in subsequent installments. In Rancher's Dream, Hawke's high school and college sweetheart, Deidre broke up with him when she wanted to travel the world and he wanted to make her into a wife and mother instead. Now, ...more

Talk about a great daniels book. Started it in the afternoon done by the evening. Its about mystery and mayhem. Its also about second chances. I love a book that brings back family together even though we are doing Hawk Cahill and Drey Hunter's story. I love how BJ pulls out all the different ways to cause mayhem in a story and yet create a mystery as to how its being done. The biggest mystery starts at beginning of the story when Drey and her groom enter the house and Ethan disappears. This set ...more

This one I found to have a bit different flavor than the others in this series. It starts out telling you the story then it plays with your mind like it does Drey's. You also are thinking poor Hawk but you are too caught up with what is going on too. The suspense in this one is the slow roll that will simmer than bring you to a boil kind. This one is a good mystery attached with you loving every step of the way. I also enjoyed the adoption story that continues with loving how this one curls arou ...more

Another in the Montana Cahills, this one grabbed me on the first page and refused to let go until I finished the last page. Who wouldn't be similarly affected when a bride looks at the house her new husband has built and imagines that she will die there? Fortunately, the humorous highjinks of the people at the saloon also create hints of a future book when the cook's biological daughter finally shows up. And Drey finally realizes that she has to talk to Hawk Cahill about how she really felt when ...more

WHOLLY COW--this is the best, I know--keep on saying that! lol, but BJ just gets better and better!!!!
