Shannon Taylor takes no prisoners—save the ones she tosses into lockup. Between convicting criminals as an Ash Park district attorney, dealing with her jerk ex-husband (who also happens to be her boss), and caring for her dying brother, Shannon is already stretched thin. So she’s less than thrilled when new evidence from a closed case emerges—evidence suggesting she threw a young mother in jail for a murder she didn’t commit.
Shannon knows the girl is hiding something. But whatever the secret, it is even more compelling than the hope of freedom—the girl won’t talk.
When Shannon becomes the target of a series of cryptic and bloody warnings, she must find a way to protect everyone she holds dear. Will her persistence free an innocent woman? Or will her pursuit of the truth turn her family into helpless targets in a madman’s game?
Conviction runs deep. Courage runs deeper. And nothing in Ash Park is as it seems.

I received an advance copy of this book with the expectation that I would write an honest review of it after reading it.
I'm one of those people who is practically impossible to surprise. I can smell a plot twist from a mile away and I always figure out the mystery long before I finish a book. Somehow O'Flynn has the ability to to leave me reeling at the conclusion of her work.
This book was beautifully crafted. The story is complex and the characters are compelling. None of the side plots are wasted, but instead help to establish a broadened understanding of the setting and cast of characters. The characters are relatable and deplorable (some at the same time). As soon as I thought I knew what was going on, more of the big picture was revealed and I was reminded that I, much like Jon Snow, knew nothing. I was guessing up until the conclusion, and a part of me thinks that I still may not have gotten the big picture. I look forward to binge reading the next book in this series.
Conviction is O'Flynn's second novel featuring the irritable but gold-hearted Detective Petrotsky. O'Flynn writes powerful, multifaceted characters. In the beginning of CONVICTION, Shannon, the POV character, is an intelligent, passionate, guilt-ridden prosecutor who sometimes can't see past her own anger and convictions. She'll stop at nothing to see justice done, even if it means putting the wrong person in jail. I could feel her anger in almost every word she spoke, and I understood it. She had so much grief in her life and so much passion to make things right, especially for those who could not protect themselves. Shannon's internal narrative made me think about my own self and how easy it is to look at a situation and make judgements without seeing the whole picture clearly. How often do I let my own biases affect how I see people?
Conviction also offers a cast of characters who could all be murderers. And whoever is the murderer is a really terrifying person who is targeting Shannon. All the characters, like the rest of us, had shades of light and dark, so any one of them could have potentially snapped and been a killer. O'Flynn kept me guessing the whole time.
O'Flynn is a skillful writer who has a great ability to transfer emotion into the page and to weave terrifying tales.
I'd compare her current novels to James Patterson's Alex Cross book, so definitely not for the faint at heart, but very well written, fast-based plots. If it were a movie, Conviction would earn an R rating. For me, the language was a bit strong, but I usually read tamer stuff.
I received a copy of Conviction in exchange for a fair review.
O'Flynn's first book, Famished, was dark and mysterious and fast-paced, and Conviction is all of that and then some. District attorney Shannon Taylor has locked up the wrong person, and now there's a demented killer after her and her family. In the first book of the series, Famished, Shannon felt cold and emotionally detached -- but now we get to see the truth of who she is, and it is beautiful and heart-wrenching. Her best friend Morrison, a detective on the Ash Park force, is at turns brooding, sexy, and Zen (but could he be the real killer?). Petrosky, Morrison's wise-cracking curmudgeon of a partner, really needs to be my dad. I love how he tries to pretend he doesn't care.
O'Flynn has a succinct, fast-paced writing style that sucks you in, keeps you turning pages, and best of all--keeps you guessing. Can't wait for the 3rd installment of this series.
This one is a little less graphic than the first, but it is just as exciting. It's a great read but might be emotionally difficult for anyone who has dealt with grief or trauma. Or it could be therapeutic for those same reasons. The characters are real and raw, and nothing is wrapped up in a neat little bow which I personally enjoy.
That was a heck of a story, really great plot. This second Ash Park story features Petrosky and Morrison again with Shannon Taylor from the prosecutor's office being in the lead role. Shannon gets a conviction for the murder of a drug dealer but doesn't feel great about it. Both Petrosky and Morrison have doubts about Ashley Johnson's guilt. After some stalkery things happen to Shannon she starts to think the detectives might have a point.
They get a lead about a social worker who may know something but before they can question him, he turns up dead. Things get more tense and there are more suspects than you poke a stick at (Australian vernacular). Then Shannon's ex, who is a real dick, arrests Morrison for the murders. WTF is going on?
As I said, heaps of suspects. Then things really heat up and someone tries to kill Shannon. The end of the book was quite frenetic as the final twist was revealed. What I didn't like was that, as with book one, the female lead was a nervous wreck for most of the book. I know Shannon was having a bad trot but she's a prosecutor for crying out loud. She came good towards the end thankfully. This is sometimes a feature of books with female leads written by women but I don't like it. Show us strong women!
Conviction: An Ash Park Novel (Volume 2) by Meghan O'Flynn
An enticing read that I could not put down! This book can be read as a standalone. Shannon Taylor is good at what she does but when she mistakenly puts an innocent mother away things begin happening. She already has a lot on her plate with her brother but now she is being targeted by someone else. A little romance also blossoms for her in this novel. Shannon is a very strong female character and I loved following her as she raced against time to figure out who the real killer was. The storyline was also easy to follow and full of twists that made it more interesting. I absolutely loved it and can easily say this is a 5 star book.
This was an excellent mystery. The way the characters were developed and portrayed in this story was awesome. I hated one of the characters more than I hated the killer. They were that much of an asshole. Didn't figure out the killer til the end, which is always good and it could have been anybody. Although you can't tell who it is, if you read people or understand human behavior, you know who the killer isn't before our main character. I loved that about the story. I haven't read a mystery in a long time because they were just so boring to me and there didn't seem to be a story beyond who is the killer. This story had more than who is the killer. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
O'Flynn has done it again! I was gripping onto the edge of my seat while reading this book. She has a rare talent, writing fiction stories that seem so real, you have to sleep with the lights on. I loved seeing familiar faces from Famished mixed in with the expanded cast of characters - can't wait to see what comes next!
Conviction had a great story line but I was so confused throughout the entire book. Maybe it was just because I hadn’t read the first book in the series. The story didn’t give any back ground into the murder, no history about the characters, just jumped into what I felt as the middle of the story. I would highly suggest reading book 1 before reading Conviction. It will hopefully make more sense.
Conviction: An Ash Park Novel (Volume 2) By: Meghan O’Flynn 5 out of 5 stars
The story Conviction: An Ash Park Novel (Volume 2) by Meghan O’Flynn is a thrilling book that I loved reading. It is a story that has enough drama and suspense that I found myself turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. Reading this book is sometimes like trying to work with a puzzle. I was trying to fit the pieces together along with the characters. One of the stories main characters is Shannon Taylor. At first, I wasn’t really sure what to think about her. She is a character that can seem to be a bit harsh when interacting with others. I didn’t have to get far into the story when my view of her changed and she became someone I could empathize with. I found myself caring what happens to her as she finds herself overwhelmed with what she is going through. She has those that she loves and cares about which she will protect when needed. When new evidence turns up in a case she had thought she has closed she finds herself first fighting that it means anything. When she starts to receive warnings, things start to add up to more than just coincidence. Is the new evidence that has been uncovered the key to setting a young woman free? How much danger are Shannon and those she loves in because of what has been discovered? Who can she truly trust? Read this story to find out how it all ends up. I enjoyed reading this story just as much as the first one. There are characters in this book that are brought forward from the first story and also new ones. It is exciting to read about how each one fits into the plot and I also enjoyed reading about their interactions with Shannon. This is a wonderfully written story that kept me on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend reading it.
Conviction (Ash Park #2) by Meghan O'Flynn was just as, no, it was more dark and thrilling then the last book. I didn't think it was possible, but this series is fast becoming an obsession.
The second book in the Ash Park series, we are once again tossed into the dark underbelly of Ash Park, this time following Shannon Taylor, Ash Park district attorney. We met he in the last book, and I didn't know too much about her, only that I liked her and having this story centered around her was quite a thriller treat.
Shannon is a fierce character, she is the attorney you want on your side, and would do anything to never be on her bad side. She's a strong character, and one that I believe was written in a real, complex way that made you connect with her. She isn't perfect, and is trying to do her best to put the baddies away, while wondering if she made a life changing mistake years ago.
I will tell you that this book, was wow. The mystery, the clues and the plot twist. I didn't see it coming, and I was shocked. Again Meghen played with our hearts, twisted our emotions and lead us/me astray. Nothing was wasted, even the subplots. Having such multi-layered writing, added to the complexity of this story and, it made for such a big polt bomb, that I had to put the book down just to process.
This series is just everything I didn't know I wanted, and I can't stop reading. As I said, I'm a little obsessed, and I think my dreams are going to be a little nightmarish for a few nights. So yes, I give this book my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.
Conviction by Meghan O’Flynn is the second book in her new series, Ash Park Series, and this is another great read! Continuing the story of Detectives Petrosky and Morrison, who have a very unique relationship. Introducing Shannon Taylor, lawyer, who is saddled with a crazy case and then having to deal with Petrosky and Morrison. The closer that this trio gets, the harder it is for them to not rub each other the wrong way, but the case is getting too deep for either of them to go it alone. The dynamics between these guys was so great getting to watch it all unfold, along with the mystery of this case and the sprinklings of romance only top it all off with a cherry. Once I started this series I knew that I needed to see it out, because I couldn’t have put it down if I tried. This book is a heart racing, pulse pounding thriller, with allot of who dun its and edge of your seat sitting. Each of the supporting characters only served to compliment these main characters and it was great to really see them all play together throughout the story. I couldn’t wait to see where this story went, who dun it, and see the relationships develop. If you are looking for a wild roller coaster ride of book that is sure to pull you in from the very beginning, than this is the book for you. Because this is a part of a series, I highly recommend reading it in series order! O’Flynn is a great author and she can pull you into her stories effortlessly. I can’t wait to see how this story turns out in the next book!
This was an amazing book! 100% Approved! Conviction is the second book in the Ash Park series written by Meghan O’Flynn. This book follows Shannon Miller who is the Assistant District Attorney for Ash Park and Curt Morrison, who is the detective in the Ash Park Police Department. They started out as best friends, which ultimately lead to the HEA they found themselves in the end. However, this book focuses on Shannon and her family. There is a lot of depth to Shannon that we didn’t know about in the first book. It seems she’s not so hardnosed after all. Curt was always interested in Shannon but let her do her thing until she was ready for him. In the interim there is a killer out there targeting Shannon. You wouldn’t believe who it ends up being! This book is so well written! A complete emotional rollercoaster to which you need lots and lots of tissues. There are so many twists and turns that you don’t see anything coming. I had to remind myself throughout this book that there is a romantic underlining. It had all the suspense of a great murder mystery! I loved every minute of it! Now, there is only one sex scene and it was amazingly perfect! It didn’t need another scene. I also loved that we learned more and more about Curt’s partner Detective Petrosky. His character is really coming through and you really are starting to understand him more. I’m so glad that I started this series and I cannot wait to finish reading all the other books!
Conviction: An Ash Park Novel, Volume 2 by Meghan O’Flynn 4 out of 5 Stars This book is intense. If there was ever a white-knuckled thriller, this book would be in the running. I could not turn the pages fast enough on this book. Shannon Taylor is the main character for this book and lord have mercy is she a powerhouse. Being a District Attorney for her city means that she has to be tough as nails and when she has to deal with the lowest of the low, she is as tough as they come, except when it evidence shows that she may have put a young mother in jail for a murder that she didn’t commit. That will crack the edges of even the hardest hearts. Shannon knows the girls is hiding something but she won’t say what, or who it is and Shannon herself becomes the victim/target of warnings and targeted messages. Shannon has to race against the clock to protect herself and to right the wrong she has done by putting the right person behind bars, she just isn’t sure if she will be put into the ground first. Ms O’Flynn is a very talented writer. This book was full of passion, secondary emotions and strong details. I loved every second of this book. Most defiantly an 18+ for the strong language and violence but a fantastic book none the less. If you love James Patterson, or books similar, you will love this book. Edit
Conviction is the second instalment in the gripping Ash Park Series by Meghan O’Flynn. I am really enjoying this series, as it has all the elements required to make it a great thriller. This second book could be read as a standalone, but as it has recurring characters, and some backstory from the first book- I really recommend reading book one before embarking on this one, so you get the entire picture and the ‘complete’ experience. The story is quite suspenseful, and the author did a great job of creating tension and building anticipation. I was trying to pick up any clues and piece the puzzle together to figure out what was happening and solve the mystery. Ms. O’Flynn has woven a compelling story, full of interconnected details, multiple layers, intrigue, danger, mystery, drama, thrills, and chills. She kept me guessing the whole way through. Conviction is set about a year after Famished and we get to catch up with Shannon Taylor, Eddie Petrosky, Curtis Morrison and a few other characters who we met in book #1. Ms. O’Flynn gave this story a flavour all its own- and it’s a fantastic follow up to Famished. I can’t wait to dive into book #3!
Conviction is the second installment in the Ash Park Novels from Meghan O’Flynn. She has quickly become my favorite thriller writer and one-click go to author for this genera. I have never been disappointed with a novel of hers and once again she has managed to top the bar she set with her last. Conviction took me on a riveting, perplexing, and hair-raising journey that I never wanted to end. I absolutely adore Meghan’s knack for making it nearly impossible to figure out the twist before it happens. I am known for being the one that figures out the movie twenty minutes in, and same for most books like this, but never with Meghan’s. I am 80% of the time wrong, and I LOVE it!
Like I said before, this is the second installment in her Ash Park novels. They could be read as standalones, but I would highly recommend that you read them in order. There are a lot of reoccurring characters that make up the team that do the investigations and so forth. I find it would be a travesty to really divulge much of anything else about the plot because I just can’t ruin this book for you. Curl up with your favorite blanket in a comfy spot. Set the mood and settle in for a dark adventure you are sure to enjoy in one sitting. Thanks Meghan O’Flynn for another outstanding thrill!
Conviction it the second book in the Ash Park series by Meghan O’Flynn. This series can be read as a standalone, but there are reaccuring characters from Ms O’Flynns first book. The series has gotten off to a wonderful start and I can’t wait to read what is coming next in this series. This book drew me in from the very first page,it was full of mystery and suspense. I love a story where I really don’t know who the killer is until the very end, and this book provided that. Ms. O’Flynn weaves tale of lies and deception. Shannon Taylor is a fascinating character, she is a District Attorney who is all about getting convictions even if the people she is putting away are innocent. She takes care of her family and it’s stress on herself to succeed. When the detectives from the first book come to talk to her and convince her she may have made a mistake she feels remorse, but now someone is leaving her threats. Will she be able to find out the truth of the situation before it is too late? I highly recommend this book, series and author and look forward to read whatever comes next.
Conviction by Meghan O'Flynn is the second book int eh The Ash Park series. The book is a great mystery novel that conjures up a great suspense story and draws you into the book from the first chapter.
The main character Shannon is an intelligent, driven woman who is good at her job as a District Attorney, she has difficult responsibilities in her life but with a pain in the ass ex husband being her boss and a new case just landed she has her hands full.
As the case goes on Shannon has a feeling something that something is just not right with the woman's story and tries to get to the bottom of it, but as the story develops has Shannon bitten off more than she can handle.
I loved the was this story twists and turns, the characters are rich and well developed and the writing is brilliant. The story is written in the POV of Shannon and with some difficult decisions she has to make along the way have you gripped and I read this story in one sitting. The twists are great and I did not see the end coming which is always great to have a shock moment in a thriller.
This is the first book I have read by this author and will be downloading the others in this series.
Conviction by Meghan O’Flynn us the second book in the Ash Park Series, and let me tell you, this book really got to me on many levels. I was able to really identify with the lead in this book which is something I love when I read a book. Meghan really writes powerful books with strong, passionate characters, mystery to keep you reading more and more, and plots that are very believable. What I found very appealing is the way the author kept me guessing ALLL OF THE TIME! It what made me want to read more and more and get lost in the story. Shannon, loves her job and loves getting crime off the streets of Ash Park. Being the Ash Park district attorney, it’s her job that she has a passion for. When evidence crosses her desk, showing someone she has convicted of a crime she may not have committed, she isn’t very happy. The girl convicted isn’t telling anything, and Shannon for sure knows she is hiding something but even with freedom hanging in front of her she can’t get her to talk. When Shannon is subjected to heinous messages, she knows what she has to do and again Ash Park is NOTHING As it seems!
And the mystery of Ash Park continues!! This series must be read in order
This part of the story follows the Prosecuting Attorney Shannon Taylor. She is a hard woman. Burned by her cheating ex husband who happens to be her boss. She’s tough and has more guys friends than girlfriends. She is beginning to question what she believes is the truth. She loves her family. And someone is trying to get her to quit.
Then there’s death. Death of the bad guys, death of the people who know too much, and even death of loved ones. It’s the loved one’s deaths that make this story feel too much like reality and really brings on the tears. But having a support system, just that one person to lean on, truly helps. Shannon Taylor has that with her best friend, Curt Morrison. He’s also a detective. He’s Petrosky’s partner, from book one.
Conviction has a little of everything, the murdering psychos, a little romance, and all the feelings that go with them. This author really keeps me entertained with the story line, as I really never know who the murderer is or what is going to happen next.
I enjoyed this story and can not wait to read the next in this series!
Conviction by Meghan O’Flynn is the second book in the Ash Park series. This book can be read as a stand-alone. Shannon believes she fights the good fight. As a district attorney she relishes in throwing people into jail who deserve it. It is the only constant in her life that is stretched thin and only getting worse. With an ex husband causing her hell and a brother who she has to care for, Shannon cannot handle one more thing on her plate. However when she receives evidence that she might have made a mistake - that she might have locked up an innocent mother - she feels things begin to fall. But what can you do if the person won’t reveal what they are hiding? And what can you do when you find yourself in the middle of something much bigger? As with the first book I found this one to be so interesting. I couldn’t wait to find out what secret was being hidden, and it was great trying to guess it first. The characters were as engaging and had such depth to them. This is clearly going to be a very good series and one I am fully enjoying.
This story was wild. Murder, mystery and a lot of suspense. The author really knew how to hook you with trying to solve these cases. Then bam it’s someone so unexpected. There is always a pattern to books. The intro where we learn about the characters. The middle where the good stuff happens like a break up. Then finally the end where we learn the truth or the couple ends up happily ever after. This story had all that plus more. It was not easy trying to guess who the killer was. The author did a really good job on the mystery side. The villain in this story was so well hidden that as the main character learned the truth I was shocked as well. The emotions were well written and you could feel the characters pain. I felt Shanny’s pain. The loss, the confusing and the need to be loved. I definitely related to some of her issues. No one wants to be alone and she struggled with failure. The author has a great cast of characters here with different stories I hope we get to explore.
Conviction An Ash Park Novel By Meghan O’Flynn ☆☆☆☆☆ This is a suspenseful rollercoaster of so many emotions. There is a romance in the story, but the other side of the story is so much more.
Shannon is a district attorney, working for her ex husband. When she wrongfully convicts the wrong woman. Things just feel wrong. Her husband told her to drop it. What's done is done. Being the woman Shannon is, she needs to make things right. But with everything, doing what's right has its consequences. This made be the fight of her life. I never expected the outcome!
Meghan O’Flynn had me on the edge of my seat on page one. Her story is a non stop ride of epic proportions. I have never cried so hard, while reading a book. This one just kept bring the intrigue. I could not put it down. Okay I put it down at 3:30 in the morning. Then I sat and pondered over what I had just read. Cried a little more, then fist pumped at Shannons bravery and strength. Such a great story. If you like suspenseful stories this one's for you. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
Conviction is the second book in Meghan O’Flynn’s Ash Park series that takes place in the run down area of Detroit. It could be read as a standalone but there is a backstory and characters that are present throughout the series. You can see how the writer has gotten deeper into the Ash Park world, the story is complex and the characters have layers, you learn more about them and it makes you understand where they come from and why they act the way they do. All of them are like us – dark and light – and it is up to them how they choose. We have Petrosky and Morrison with Shannon Taylor from the prosecutor’s office and all of them have their doubts regarding the ‘guilty’ verdict that the young woman Ashley Johnson received. And the doubts grow stronger when Shannon gest stalked and her family gets harassed … and there is a galore of suspects … take your pick! At the same time, the story is much more than just trying to find out who the killer is … I am looking forward to the next story to see where the writer takes us …
Conviction is another must read book by Meghan O’Flynn. It’s the second book in the Ash Park series. Though it can be read as a standalone I would suggest reading book 1 first in order to get all of the character introductions. Just like the first one I found myself completely captivated by this storyline. I had so many questions from the start that I couldn’t bring myself to put it down, I just had to figure it all out.
This book is intriguing, dark, detailed, riveting and so suspenseful. Meghan is truly a phenomenal author, she creates these incredibly dark worlds and questionable characters along with storylines that will have you guessing the whole way through. I love how just when I think I have it all figured out something new is added which has me questioning everything all over again.
I would absolutely recommend this book and series to anyone looking for their next suspenseful crime read!
Conviction by Meghan O’Flynn is a four star novel. This is also the second book in the Ash Park series. It can be read as a standalone. We get to know some of the characters in the first novel, but not the storyline. Shannon Taylor is a prosecutor and her life is not all it is cracked up to be. She has lots of responsibilities taking care of her brother who is sick. She also has to put up with her ex-husband as her boss. She knows that some convictions feel better than others, but there is one that keeps coming back to haunt her. She can’t get the thought out of her head that this woman might not have been guilty of murder. How could she deal if she learns that she put away a young mother who has innocent? When new clues start making their way to the surface, she knows that she has let a killer loose. Now she has to choose to keep her family safe or right the wrongs she has done to this woman and her daughter.
Conviction: An Ash Park Novel (Volume 2) By Meghan O'Flynn. If you like playing the guessing game in a suspense novel get this story now. This story could be read as a standalone without much confusion but I recommend reading them in order to get a fuller picture. This author just knows how to drag readers into the story and keep them on the edge of our seats. I appreciate the attention to detail the author takes. Each time I thought I had something figured out another twist would come and once again I’d be grappling for the answers. Each character brings something unique to the storyline and I enjoyed each of them. I’m a big fan of an author who can keep me on my toes and give me chills while I read. I can’t wait to read more by this author. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking. I’m giving this book a five star review and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great new story.
Conviction was a good 4 star read. We start with the prologue where Shannon is in court prosecuting Ashley, a woman who is accused of killing her drug dealer boyfriend. This part is in Ashley’s POV. Did she really do it? What's going to happen to her baby?
Shannon is proud that she got a conviction in her case, but was she really the killer? Ashley’s lawyer is convinced she didn’t do it and is determined to find the truth. When some leads come in on a case that she thought was closed, things start to take some interesting twists. Shannon also finds herself in danger.
There were so many people that could be guilty my head was spinning and totally not who I thought when we finally get the answer. There were so many great characters, some likable some hateable. My heart went out to Ashley and what she was put through. This was a great edge of your seat read that pulled me right in. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
This is the second book in this series and I find that even though it is not my go to genre that I did enjoy reading it. The author has a very spine chilling way of writing that is quite unique. I found that she draws you into the intrigue and gets your imagination running. You find yourself unable to stop reading as you want to see what will happen.
I found that you found yourself on an emotional rollercoaster as the story began to unfold. I was quite engrossed in this book as I could feel the sense of injustice. You can feel the emotions of the characters as the story plays out and that you just want all the wrongs to be righted and justice to be served. You can feel the sinister undertone in the book and you can't help but keep reading to see how it will all turn out. I would definitely read more from this author in the future.
