The Dominance Bond

After Bianca's mother passes away, she and Thomas move into her father's home in order to attend to his ailing health, but the two men, jealous of her attention to the other, undergo a competition of wits, subjecting one another to psychological torment. Torn between her relationships-facing the physical decline of her father, and the mounting frustration of her fiancé-Bianca chooses to devote herself to caring for her father's health at the expense of her own. But Thomas soon devises a plot that would allow him sole possession of Bianca. Detailing the extent of Thomas' relationship with all who he uses for his own selfish ends and the tragic end they each come to face, The Dominance Bond is an examination of the darker aspects of man's nature.

This may not be the first time, but it is rare that I read a book where I do not like ANY of the characters. None. Strange, but that was the case with this book. It had a good premise: Fiancé Bianca's mother died, so she and Thomas move into her Father Paul's home to care for him.
That scenario certainly held promise. From there, however, the story goes downhill, not because of the plot, but because all of the people involved plus their friends and acquaintances have no redeeming value.

The book is short, and goes fast. As I read the book, I tried to find someone in the story that I could like even a little, and failed. Yet, the plot and the writing shows that the author has promise, as he - in my opinion - writes well. He could develop an interesting story with a variety of good / bad / in - between folks that would make for a better book than this one turned out to be.
