These authors did a great job in giving an overview of what the current global inequality levels are and how we got here. They show data from the UK, USA, China, Russia, Western Europe, South Africa, India and Brazil. Specifically, what policies and historical events have led their respective trajectories related to income and wealth inequality.
I was very surprised at how unequal wealth is distributed in 2018 and even the most conservative forecasts show world inequality will probably even increase further.
I encourage everyone interested in this topic to also google the 'World Inequality Report'. Clear visuals give up to date data.
