I found this to be an excellent introductory text for motor learning. It didn't leave me feeling like I needed to understand the field just to be able to understand the book. At the same time, I never felt like the book was written to an elementary audience either. The book reads like an extended literature review which allows for the reader to find the papers and researchers that inform the text. I definitely sought out several papers that were cited in the book so that I could better understand topics that were presented.

I wrote more about my reasons for reading this book and the lessons I learned here:

If I were to make a coaching 101 course this would be one of the required texts. This book not only details how motor learning works but also how to optimize teaching. Any coach, teacher or athlete will see great benefits from this book. I bought the version with a web study guide which had reviews/quizzes at the end of each chapter. Those really helped cement the learning process for me. I will likely reference back to this very often through my coaching career and have already recommended it to several other coaches.
