Actual book read: When I Grow Up by Cheryl Ryan (unable to find it on Goodreads so choose this title by Jo S. kittinger because they share the same title)

This book is about a girl that asks her parents to go somewhere and do things by herself. Her parents say "when you grow up". Her mom and dad told her that she has to grow up because she has to get some sleep. It's good to get sleep because it helps you get energy. She can't eat anything she wants because she'll eat cereal but she won't eat vegetables and she'll eat cookies! She can't go shopping by herself because she's not big enough, she could get taken! She needs to grow up to go to the movies because she might get taken. I can't drive a car. If she drives a car then the police will catch her and she will break the car because kids can't drive the car. She wants to go out at night to play. Her parents don't let her go because she's not big enough. If she goes at night by herself then people will take her.
I want to grow up so I can go somewhere all by myself. When I grow up I want to go to the store and buy toooys!

Good for VERY young children, but not much to it. The illustrations are nice, though.

Career Storytime
No story...just pictures and a few words sharing the career path. Read this to toddlers. Worked well.

Rookie reader offers a variety of options for careers. Woman is depicted--so appeal may be limited. Viv loved it.

Very easy reader for the youngest listeners. Covers basic occupations, plus a few fun ones like clown. May or may not work for our lesson in When I Grow Up for 3 yr olds...

Summary:
Lists and pictures of different occupations and dreaming about what could be.

Evaluation:
This book is very simple and good for a beginning/progressing reader and promotes good thinking and discussions

Teaching Point:This book simply lists different occupations on each page, but is great conversation starter or writing prompt, but is also a good reminder at the end, to just remember to play and not be too worried about the future.
