Gay for Pay

Rate this book
Caleb Drake is going down. Which is why he’s going down. Caleb Drake is a guy’s guy—beer on Friday, football on Sunday, he couldn’t be more secure in his sexuality. But he is dealing with the aftermath of an expensive divorce, and his shaky judgment has caused him to lose his lucrative career as a personal injury attorney. Facing disbarment, and costly legal fees, he considers an unthinkable solution offered by an unlikely his soon-to-be ex-wife. John Butters is in town, trolling Las Vegas for gay-for-pay performers for his hit direct-to-internet porn series, Butter Me Up. In the back of his van or in a hotel room, Butters films everyday straight guys who are willing to go there for cash. Butter’s newest find, the ridiculously endowed Caleb, is a sure hit. With more and more cash on the line, Caleb goes further and further until a blast from his past turns his universe upside down—his former college roommate Derek Johnson. A bisexual romp of an erotic romantic comedy, Gay for Pay will leave you asking, “What the hell did I just read?” A story so wrong it has to be right from the author of Taken by Two.

About Sam J.D. Hunt

Sam J.D. Hunt resides in Las Vegas with her husband, the inspiration for the young Thomas Hunt character, as well as her two children. Her debut trilogy, The Thomas Hunt Series, put a fun and unique spin on the popular BDSM genre. She followed up with the highly successful DEEP: A Captive Tale--a dark BDSM erotic captor/captive story about a pirate and his lady that spans time and space. Her fourth novel, the full-length standalone The Hunt for Eros is an erotic art adventure that combines spicy romance with a cultural adventure based on true life events. It has been described as being like The Da Vinci Code, but with lots of heat added.

Hunt's next release was co-written with her husband. Dagger: American Fighter Pilot is a steamy contemporary romance, which follows a squadron of fighter pilots as part of the American Fighter Pilot read-in-any-order series. Following the release of Dagger, Hunt released the much-anticipated MMF/Bi/Ménage erotic adventure, Taken by Two. Next, Hunt plans to release DEEPER: Capture of the Virgin Bride as a follow-up to DEEP. When not writing, Hunt enjoys travel, community involvement, spending time with friends and family, and hiking. She spends her days writing and trying to answer the age-old question: is it too late for coffee or too early for wine?

Super hot! But what's that ending? It's barely a HFN, two MCs just got together for the first time in many years and it just ended.

Reviewing on behalf of Relentless Book Chics Ramblings and Reviews

A quick romp with Caleb is a must for everyone! This story is hilarious and dirty, I loved it!

I’m a huge fan of this author and after reading the blurb, I couldn’t wait to read this. Her writing style has always appealed to me, her characters are always likable and there’s humor injected into her romance, PNR and erotica stories even though they’re not in the comedy genre so it was great to dive into a story that she intended to be funny.

Caleb Drake is down on his luck. He’s recently divorced and is about to lose the career he loves so he’s willing to do whatever it takes to earn enough money to pay his bills and his money hungry ex, by being gay for pay.

Despite what you may think from the title, this book has an actually story and isn’t just filled with sex scenes. It is however, a great one handed read and a love story with a twist and I highly recommend it.

Quick, dirty little read.
I liked how the story was told, from Caleb's pov, at times having him speak directly to us, the reader.
He's an interesting character and it was hard to get a read on him in the beginning, even though we were in his head - he came across as bit of a jackass, and a little pathetic, honestly. I did feel sorry for him at times, though, once we learned more detail about why and how he got to this point in his life.
The "gay for pay" movie making business aspect of the story was fun and dirty- I'd be part of that femala audience Mr. Butters was talking about, I have no shame!
But it was a little disappointing that we didn't get more of Caleb and Derek's story- I was hoping there'd be more to their reunion.
Overall, if you're looking for something easy to pass the time with, you may get a kick out of Caleb's story.

A quick fun read!

This is a book that you'll knock off in no time and will have a blast doing it. This is Caleb's "memoir." He's down on his luck and on the verge of losing everything. Until he finds a way to come up with some quick cash.

Caleb can be a bit of a jerk but as the story goes on, we discover the real reason why he's in trouble and it actually turns out that he's not such a bad guy after all. Combined with the humor this book provides, this is a really good read.

I just wish there was more with Derek. But maybe there's a follow up coming our way....

Wow!

This was certainly something I’ve never read before. What a different and twisting storyline. Caleb is an amazing, hung like a horse attorney with a few tales to tell. I loved his silly, sometimes dry tone about telling a story. There’s some quite steamy scenes, and a few twists I didn’t expect. Great, job, Sam!

This was very much not what I expected. I read an enthusiastic review of this book and thought it might be somewhat like the "Just a little bit" series. Very far from it.
Though the preface is right on the money that this is something different. Just not all different is good.
I actually have no idea what exactly this book is supposed to be. It's not a romance. The "couple" barely interacts at all and there is just not enough depth to the story or either character to call it anything like it either. But I guess you could say there is a happy end, if a throwaway sentence at the end counts as that.
It's not porn either. There's some sex scenes when Cal does his porn shoots, but it's rather short and not really written to be sexy, at least, it read really unsexy to me, millage may vary. No sex scenes with the actual "couple" though, but there is some heterosexual stuff in there too.

It's written as a kind of memoir and there are a few funny moments from the meta talk, but other than that it just seems to try to make him seem about as disgusting an individual as possible.

Also, it's a lot shorter than I assumed Goodreads says 88 pages, the Kindle book actually has 77 and there's only content till 85% in.

"Careful now, Cowboy. If you like it too much, you won't be gay for pay anymore. You'll just be gay."

*****5 how far would you go STARS*****

Sam J D Hunt's creativity knows no bounds! As always in her works, Hunt sprinkles in wit and humor to an otherwise distraught issue. Gay For Pay will have you giggling as Cal familiarizes himself in his new side career. This short read is a GREAT little pick me up. How far would you go if faced with a financial crisis? Would you go 'Gay For Pay?'

Trying his hand at documenting his memoirs, Cal gives the straight (somewhat...lol) hard facts of his perfect life gone wrong.
Looking to make a quick buck, Caleb Andrew Drake meets John Butters; of 'Butter Me Up,' his "Gay for Pay brand" via the internet. Averting his financial crisis, Cal realizes and comes to terms with some deep hidden secrets. Will his small stint at 'porn star' further jeopardize not only his career but cause him to lose his true love once again? Join Cal on his journey of self discovery in this STEAMY tale of Gay For Pay!!

This fantastic story is unique, with a great plot, and the conversational dialogue was so well written. It is loaded with humor, sarcasm, and steamy romance. Even the chapter headings were humorous. Caleb Drake is dealing with the aftermath of divorce, facing disbarment, and costly legal fees. So what else can he do, he signs up for Gay for Pay where he is encouraged to go further and further until his former college roommate Derek Johnson shows up. That is where the story takes a turn you do not see coming. I love this author's work as she is so good at giving us such creative and different stories.

I'm trying to work through my over-stuffed Kindle backlog since I haven't felt like physcially reading for a month. This was short and fun and surprisingly witty and romantic and steamy all stuffed into less than 100 pages.
“Wait a minute,” I said as I tried to process this news. “So you want straight guys to go at it so women can get off on it?”👀🤷‍♀️
Our MC may at first seem like a smarmy creep but he's actually a pretty decent guy who has a humorous and caring supporting cast of characters for friends. His G4P (& G4free) shenanigans are pretty hot and this book turned out to be a lot tamer, in a good way, than I thought it would be.

A great quick read.

This is the first book I have read by this author and defiantly won't be my last.

Gay for Pay takes you on the roller coaster ride in the life of Caleb. Needing money, being heavily drunk and drugged Caleb decides to show the world his manhood. This one little show changes his life forever.

It gives him the cash he needs to survive. Along the way you learn more about Caleb and the reason for doing what he is.

A great quick read for anyone wanting to try the author out.

Saw Seth King comment on Sam's work. Thought this should be interesting.

Turned out to be a bore. Typically cheap books. I keep looking for a good gay porn book but seems it's impossible.

The thing is that I believe porn is an industry just like any other. Still it is captivating since no one around me works in it and I feel the ins and outs of it are so foreign. I would like to read a book that details more about it. Maybe some bios but then those would be salted and peppered to the max.

This book has zero depth, just words set next to words. Not recommended.

A short funny over the top book that drew me in from page one. I will admit unlike any other book I have read in a while. Steamy, romantics, funny, sarcastic, and entertaining. Caleb is having a life and work crises and is need of money so he suddenly finds himself doing the gay for pay videos. It seems give his assets the camera loves him and he is a natural. All is going well till his college roommate, Derek, shows up and all changes. If you want to read a book that is simply entertaining, spicy and will make you laugh, this one is it. I did receive an ARC and leave this honest review.

Great Read!!

I loved this book even though Cal is a total Jackass through most of it..lol. His inner monologues are hysterical! His reasoning totally off but when he talks to Baba with true friendship and you find out the real reason for his legal issues you discover the Jackass is a good guy. Add in his long buried love we get a fantastic HEA after a read that is not only really hot but leaves you laughing out loud!!

This was a quick, fun, dirty little read with a surprisingly touching storyline. By that I mean I didn't expect such a likeable and sympathetic character in Caleb. Sam Hunt's books are always an adventure, but this short (novella?) manages to be dirty and funny, and a bit loving as our Hero gets an HFN that is due more to luck than effort. But that's ok, because Caleb, despite being a really bad decision maker, has a huge...heart. Yeah, heart. That's it.

For Pay?

Hmmm....from the start I was curious...how are you Gay for Pay? Well read and you'll learn! Every niche has it's kink or is it every kink has it's niche? This is a sometimes hysterical but heartwarming story of a man struggling within himself and finding who he really is.

Outstanding!

An irreverent splash, highly entertaining read. If you're prudish, pass. But everyone else should grab it up, quickly. This author is the best conversationalist I've ever read. I've read everything she's released and she doesn't disappoint with this one either.

Hot, Quick Story

Intriguing story of a man who dabbled in internet open for pay, then the real deal gay for pay. All to pay the bills. This man longed for the one that got away and ends in a HEA. Loved it.

Ok

I'm not a real fan of the way this is written although that is supposed to be part of the "joke" and I find the author is trying to hard to be funny with what essentially could be an entertaining story.

I like that it wasn’t just some “magical gay-porn-turned-me-gay” bs. I can’t really say more without telling the story. It wasn’t bad, but can’t really give it more stars, because there wasn’t a lot of substance; but more than in a lot of other similar books out there.

It was hot hot hot with an HEA just like I like my stories to be. Ms Hunt even delivers a little twist I didn't see coming. In the end the only thing I wanted was more.

Very Entertaining

Short. Almost too short. I wouldn't have minded if it had been a little longer. The best part of this book is Caleb himself. He's so funny I kept laughing at the things he would say and do. I'd love being friends with him! While there is a love story here this isn't really a romance novel of any kind. Its just a very amusing "memoir" of an unusual guy.

This was a great story told as Caleb’s memoir. I laughed out loud and really enjoyed it. It wasn’t completely what I expected and I loved that.

So Caleb is a total mess. He’s recently divorced, in a ton of debt and may be disbarred (he’s currently a lawyer). But he’s sexy, hysterical, witty and REALLY well endowed!

Caleb needs money and when it’s suggested he make some videos of himself, well he figures why not. He already jerks off, why not record it. And when he realizes Gay for Pay could be lucrative, he’s all in. One step at a time, but not before long, he’s doing all out porn. But there’s definitely more to this story...

It’s a quick read told by Caleb. He doesn’t take life too serious. I loved the writing style and the supporting characters. Oh and it was HOT! Caleb hit rock bottom but ended up on top😉

I volunteered to read an early copy of this story. No form of payment was received. These are just my thoughts on the story.

I loved this short story. Its Quick and Dirty. I loved everything about it. This is different from what we have read from Sam J. D. Hunt but it is equally as good. She knows how to tell a great story.

I loved Caleb Drake. I loved how he is a mess and how he takes action into his hands. His ex- wife may have given him the idea put he goes full force and he finds who he truly is. I hope that we get more of his story. This story has some laugh out loud moments. I picked the right time to read this short story as I needed some humor in my life.

All I can say is this book had some hotness in it and dirty fun as well. Caleb had me laughing out loud at times, but the secondary characters made this story funny as well. Caleb was down on his luck in life and needed money, so he did what anyone would’ve done. I’m not going to lie, I would’ve done the same thing, but enjoyed as much as Caleb did.

This is a short read, but a really enjoyable one. What I can say about Sam JD Hunt, is she surprises me every time she writes a book, because you just never know how she will go with the story. One of the most talented author out there
