Get kids excited about sewing with projects they will actually want to make, such as a critter coin pouch, chalkboard backpack, mermaid tail blanket, glow-in-the-dark light bulb, traveler neck pillow, reversible vest, and more! Each of the 16 projects includes an element of fantasy and can easily be customized with sewing techniques, art supplies, and alternate pattern details. Plus, kids can personalize their projects with names, words, signs, mottos, or just an artistic touch!
Other than the donut pillow I found it all a little lack lustre.
But it is geared towards kids, and I was looking at ideas for my young crafty girls to do.
The blackboard backpack just seems really odd to me, but I guess the idea is that you empty it out to swap activities (ie Gymnastics vs traveling as examples in the book) and that is when you would write on it with chalk. Also living in England, that just doesn't seem like it would stand up to our constant rainy days lol.
Maybe I was just expecting a little more from this.
13 projects to sew, embellish and which are easily adapted to suit your style.
Applique, embroidery and even a backpack using blackboard paint can be made by adults and children.
This fun project book comes complete with full sized paper templates. All the projects are gorgeous. They are colourful and definitely something that will be used over and over again.
There are lots of techniques to advance your sewing skills, and what I loved the most was that the author has made the instructions so easy to follow, this ensures that even a beginner will achieve a project that is usable and beautiful.
Cushions, hats, bags and sweatshirts, are included in sections that are specific to Fashion, On the Go , DIY and much much more.
The Critter Coin Pouch is adorable and I know just the small human that is going to love it.
I found this item in my library in the adult section, but it would be a good book for children and teen sewers that have a little experience with sewing. The projects are cute, and very juvenile, which doesn't mean they can't be for adults but they would be good for gifts for kids or adults who are kids at heart! I mean who doesn't want a doughnut throw pillow!!! The instructions seem sound and easy to understand. There are lots of clear color photos as well.
