I am the daughter of a home-economics teacher and was interested in fashion at an early age because my mother made clothing for our family. I observed her work throughout the construction process and became interested in sewing very early.

I studied at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in the 1980's.

I taught pattern making at West Valley College in Saratoga CA. in the 1990's.

I decided to write my pattern making textbooks after repeated requests by my dear students. I am so grateful for all of the people who influenced me and encouraged me in my career in the fashion industry.

I now have my own company, Lori Ann Design, and am happy to offer pattern making and sewing services online.
