The explosive new addition to the DDVN World (Fire and Ice Series) by USA Today Bestselling author K.F. Breene!

Something has always been missing from my life. A hole that I could never seem to fill.

When I accidentally turn a coven of witches into nightmares, I find out what that something is.

Magic.

And it turns out, I have a crap load of it.

As a latent power awakens deep

I was irritated while reading this book. I wanted to stop after reading the 8th page because the FMC was just too stupid.

She goes on a magical retreat because she doesn't know anything about magic but she's convinced there's some magic in her. So she goes and when she gets there she's told the retreat has been canceled but is given the option to observe what they are about to do as they don't usually allow novices to participate. Anyways, she starts watching them prepare to cast their

The first 40% of the book are slow and almost annoying...
Penny acts like a 13 year old brat...
Her mother is a hoot... Damn the woman can talk shit and she is a bad ass...

Then the story picks up and after Penny ambrace her magic and talent is amazing seeing her work with Emery... Their connection is amazing.
Will read the next book!!

at first I thought that I didn’t like it just because I didn’t understand it well since I read it so fast, so I went back to the beginning and reread it. but no. it’s just that bad, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

Set in the same world as the Fire and Ice trilogy, this spin-off is even better. I'm looking forward to the next two books.

What often put me off in a book is the characters’ illogical actions whose roles are merely to push the story forward. You can request a free sample for chapter 1, in which Penny’s thoughts and actions extremely confused me, then decide whether to buy the book or not.

Wow. Just wow. I really loved the Fire and Ice trilogy and was actually sorry to see that they were wrapped up so well because I wanted MORE of this world of magic and vampires and unicorns and the like. K.F. Breene delivers in her newest book Natural Witch where we get to find out Penny's story. She was briefly in Raised in Fire and again in Fused in Fire and hints were given to her being indebted to Darius but now we find out why. On the run from the Guild of Magic which she didn't even KNOW e ...more

Mixed feelings about this book.

The first quarter was far too slow and I could not rely on the main character at all.
Indeed she is in the shadow of her mother every time they are together and her mother is quite unpleasant, not because she is presented as a bad person but because she is presented as a good one, while being a bad one. The main character is 24, her mother doesn't let her have her own place, make her own decision, work the way she likes or be herself. The mother has non filter, sh

Couldn't find a single thing to take a star off for!

Witch normally aint my thing so this was a total supirse how much I was into this!

Breene gave such personalities to all the characters every one of them shone. Penny, Emery, the Mother!
Penny was wonderfully clumsy, quirky and funny. Emery was nothing like the alpha males I'm used to reading. He is happy to let Penny take front and centre, he never felt "possessive" or any of that alpha bull-shit. He is the one who is insecure not the girl!!!

I REALLY enjoyed this. Maybe even to 4.5 territory.

It's been a while since I have read about such a fabulous, original and likeable heroine. She has such a great mixture of personality quirks.

Emery is great as well. A brilliant mixture of through and capable, but is awe of Penny. I was shipping them hard in this and I think the romance was done really well.

I'd also read and enjoyed the previous trilogy about Reagan and Darius, and it was fun to see them appear, Darius more than Reagan.

Highly rec

Sorry, I wrote the review for a different K.F. Breene book here! But I did also like this book. If nothing else, the fact that the heroine goes out with her bff every evening to correct the grammar on posters and advertisements would have won me over. This was an action-packed book with an interesting plot. And though her over-protectiveness was almost strangling, I loved the heroine’s mother. I’m definitely looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Great Start

This was a great start to a spin off. When reading the original series, Penny didn't intrigue me. I am happy I have the book a chance. Penny is hilarious and is learning to have some self confidence. Looking forward to Natural Mage.

I’m so excited that KF Breene decided to keep going with this series. I have read all her books, and this series became my favorite. This story is great. Penny is an awkward, sheltered woman who is trying to figure out about herself and her magical powers. When she meets Emery, her world is turned upside down. This story is full of action, lots of laughs, and awesome characters. I highly recommend it!

A fun read

I enjoyed this third book in series. It was nice that the series focused on a different character and gave us some background. Good story, good characters and plenty of humor. I look forward to the next book in the series.

The beginning chapters read a bit confusing to me. There also seemed to be a few pages missing or something? When Emery comes to her house and they decide she's to leave with him, something happens and when she comes to Emery tells her she's been asleep for 3 days? I re-read a few times and couldn't figure out what happened as there didn't seem to be any explanation.

When she leaves with Emery all of a sudden this very sheltered young woman is totally fine sharing a bed with him day 1. That rela

A fantastic start to the spin off from the Fire & Ice series . Penny is a bit of a loner having been raised by her super protective mother after the death of her father but still waters run deep & Penny has hidden depths she had no inkling of until a chance encounter with Emery , who is doing his best to avenge the death of his brother .Pennys brand of magic plays by its own rules & doesnt follow the normal paths , accidental deaths & hurting occurs when she feels scare or threatened , sometimes ...more

Just ok

I really wanted to love this book like I do the authors Darkness and Warrior series but it was just eh. I enjoyed that it is a spin off of another of her series Fire and Ice and hope to see more crossover with the characters. The first half of the book was entirely to long and not edited well, with most of it primarily Penny talking to herself about how crazy/stupid she was. I didn't like all her self doubt and found it hard to get her attraction to Emery unless it's more of a school girl

I debated giving this 2 1/2 stars but I was feeling unusually generous so I bumped it up. I enjoyed the premise of the story but the authors attempt at making the MC sheltered and naive failed. Instead, she could easily be mistaken for a 5yr old that lost her mommy, not a 24yr old grown woman . There were also periods where the story dragged on with pointless inane dialogue that was, I guess, supposed to be cute?...
I'll continue the series because I like the premise and enjoyed the a

I was so excited to read this book. KF Breene’s Fire and Ice trilogy was awesome so I knew this book would be great as well. I loved the storyline, the writing and the characters. Penny and her mom were such great characters. They were hilarious and pretty bada**. Her mom was so overbearing which made for some pretty funny moments. I liked Emery as well. He is a powerful natural. He has some issues he needs to overcome and I’m looking forward to what comes after he gets passed them. I loved foll ...more

Pros: fast-paced story, lots of humor (I especially loved the heroine's mom)
Cons: tepid world-building, insufferable Mary Sue heroine

Overall, an okay read but I don't intend to continue the series.

Penelope (Penny) is a weird girl with a horribly overprotective mother. She does and says the oddest things. She feels things in the world around her, but that’s not normal right? So she hides her strangeness under a rock, until she braves a chance to break away from her mother to see what all this strangeness is about. Opening scene Penny is on her way to a Magic Retreat that goes terribly haywire. Here is where she realizes she has a boatload of magic and doesn’t know how to control it. When s ...more

I really enjoyed the author’s Fire and Ice trilogy and also her Warrior Chronicles. This first installment of her new series didn’t disappoint! Natural Witch is a spin off of the Fire and Ice books and some of the events overlap with the other series. If you haven’t read F&I, I recommend grabbing those books first; although this could be read by itself, I really enjoyed the appearance of familiar characters, and I think the knowledge from the other books enhances the storyline.
