Book #6 of the Sultana series. In fifteenth-century Moorish Spain, Moraima, wife of the last Sultan of Granada faces an uncertain future. Her husband’s realm endures terrible odds in battles against dangerous foes. The united Catholic monarchs Isabella of Castile and Ferdinand of Aragón gain ground steadily, encroaching upon Granada, while dynastic rivalries fracture the Moorish kingdom from within the palace. How can Moraima ensure the survival of her family, shattered by warfare and betrayal?

A Stunning Conclusion to the Sultana Series (History of Moorish Spain) It started with Sultana, the first novel in a 6 book series that depicted the intriguing lives and turmoil of the family dynasty that ruled Moorish Spain. Now, Sultana: The White Mountains brings this series to a stunning conclusion. This story takes place in the 15th century. It is a heart-wrenching tale of love and loss. Told through the point of view of Moraima, wife of the last Sultan of Granada, I truly experienced the losses of war, the heart-ache of dangerous intrigues, and a powerful love between a Sultan and his woman that endured despite all the political and dynastic turmoil of this last sultanate.
Lisa Yarde writes with passion as she ignites the sights and smells of the time. As with all her Sultana series novels, this last one is meticulously researched, is told authentically, and resounds with plenty of plot twists that held my interest until its conclusion. The author includes her own historical notes and a character chart as a reference.
The Sultana series is imaginative while being true to the times. Lisa Yarde tells each story with bold honesty, never shying away from vivid descriptions of happenings and the brutality of the era. Her sensual descriptions lent a reality to the tale and kept me immersed from first page to last!
