Deadknobs And Doomsticks: Comedian Joe Pasquale's collection of bizarre and surreal horror stories

Rate this book
Deadknobs And Doomsticks is a collection of thirteen illustrated short horror stories by I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here's 'King of the Jungle' and one of the UK's favourite comedians, Joe Pasquale. Ranging from the darkly bizarre to the horrifically surreal, many of the stories are laced with a theme of bullying and bullies. Dark undertones and malevolent overtones interweave with characters and situations that pull the reader to the edge of their seat. Wit and black humour is prevalent through the stories, each with a delicious payoff for the reader. Joe Pasquale shows that where there is laughter there is also a dark and disturbing voice that is drawn to the horror genre to find its release. With colour illustrations by the author, this collection shows a rich depth of talent as an artist and author. Joe shows he has as unique a voice in the world of horror writing, as it is in comedy.

Eerie and entertaining

I've read quite a few entertainers books and I always enjoy them as they seem to veer towards the darkness inherent in humanity.
This collection of stories are just that too a collection of what appear to be Joe's thoughts and fun they are.
They all have their own twist on something seen! I enjoyed every one of them

I really enjoyed this book, it seemed to get darker the further in you get. The stories were punchy and even thought provoking at times,I could definitely hear Joe in the way they were written. Definitely worth a read!

Reflections and lessons learned:
A broad range of creeping stories with a Shearsmith/Pemberton style dark feel... Unexpected entries from Electric 6 and the phrase, which I’ll inevitably try and use. “Hitlers plumber”

I mean...the title alone makes this at least three stars...haha. The book itself...was just ok for me. It's a quick read but I don't think I will remember anything about this book except the amazing title.

THE Joe Pasquale?!

Well I think he missed his vocation. Really enjoyed these stories, they aren't comedy from a comedian, they are writings from a writer. And just my sort of genre...
