My least favorite of the series. Not only do I feel with each book the series breaks farther away from the fantasy I was hoping for in place of sci-fi, this book hit my greatest pet peeve.

I hated that Kyrie cheated on Murie with her aunt.

He makes a case that it’s not as frowned on in their world, and as it’s just sex she wouldn’t object, but both make their fears clear at the start of their partner fooling around, and how both would be mad at it. And yet he does it without care or hesitation for reasons I can’t fathom besides being horny.

I hate cheating, I take no pleasure in heroes of stories betraying the trust of their partners for the reasons they do. It always feels wrong to me on several levels and honestly I would have enjoyed this book a lot more if it didn’t throw the wrench of petty jealousies and needless hookups.
