I read this sequel within a few days of finishing the first one and I was blown away. There is big improvement in the Sonia's grammar, style of writing and story structure. For me, this was far better in all aspects. The story continues where Lucy sets off to Lebanon with Rhys and this was a wonderful insight into the Lebanese culture and lifestyle, I found that entire part very intriguing, and you can really feel Sonia's love for Lebanon through her style of writing. There are subplots and a fe ...more

After reading What Lies Beneath The Cedars, I was looking forward to the sequel to the story to see where Lucy and Rhys ended up. Once again this is a real page turner.

The story starts where the first book ends up, where Lucy and Rhys finally get together (I recommend reading the last chapter of the first book to get a feel of what has happened). They head off to Lebanon to Lucy's mums village. For someone who knows nothing about Lebanon, I feel like I have been there. It was a real surprise as

LOVED IT!
Just when I thought that the story couldn't get any better, then this comes along.
I cried throughout most of the book, it was so emotional. Loved the first part in Lebanon, having never been (but always wanting to go), this has given me a first hand insight into the culture, scenery and village life, all through the eyes of our heroine, Lucy.
It was really interesting insight to the relationship of Lucy's sister, Grace that was a nice break from Lebanon and the way that first half is wr

My friend gave me the first book 'what lies beneath the cedars,' and I really loved it. I thought it was a great read and I was looking forward to this sequel. You can tell the author has improved greatly, by the way she has weaved this next saga.
This is a VERY well written story. You will be able to imagine everything that is happening with the descriptions and emotions laid out. The emotions are what got to me.. they are so real, I found myself relating to a lot of it. I cried a few times but

MAN WHERE DO I BEGIN! This is a book that you don't forget. hands down one of my favourite series that I couldn't put down as you just want to know what is going to happen next! So many different scenes and character journeys which show exceptional cultural relationships and character development. I loved where aSonia took this book. The little things that Sonia placed in this book fit perfectly and create meaning to characters behaviour throughout the first book. You explore deeper emotions and ...more

“Where the Cedars Rise” continues the story of Rhys and Lucy from “What Lies Beneath the Cedars”. This book is full of soul and takes you through a rollercoaster of emotions as you continually ask yourself, “will they or won’t they?” It explores the complex areas of love and cultural differences, family ties and secrets, community expectations vs self fulfillment. You will fall in love with the main characters all over again, and explore the characters of Grace and Amelia in a more in depth way. ...more

This is a great sequel to What Lies Beneath the Cedars! The book is well written and captured my attention as it goes beyond a traditional love story, having layers of plots and underlying themes.
The way in which the author wrote the book made it easy for me to place myself in each scene and empathise with each character, making it very enjoyable to read, right to the end.

I'd recommend this book to all audiences and warn that after you finish reading it, you may be hanging for more!

LOVED IT! Was so excited to read the sequel to "What Lies Beneath the Cedars"
"Where the Cedars Rise" was a delightful read which like the first book, kept me captivated and focused. I loved being able to come back into the lives of Lucy and her family to see where life was taking them all. My favourite part was definitely when Lucy and Rhys were in Lebanon. Not knowing much about the country at all, the scenes here felt so authentic and real and made me want to be there to experience it too, Ma
