Chaotic Rein #1

Tangled Love

Rate this book
Codi Rein is a means to an end. A bloody and vengeful penance for wrong doing. She was our way to inflict pain and suffering on those who took away what was most important to us.
She was supposed to be a no one. Insignificant.
She wasn’t supposed to make me smile.
She wasn’t supposed to make me laugh.
She sure wasn’t supposed to make me feel something other than hate.
She wasn’t supposed to make me love her.
She was a means to an end. Now the bloody and vengeful end looks to be mine. Because it now comes down to love or loyalty and it’s on me to decide what reigns absolute; heart or family.

ARC BOOK REVIEW
Release Date-13/4/18

Oh, this book it has broken me down to the core then put the shattered pieces of me back together all in the name of fiction.
Tangled love By Haley Jenner is a masterpiece of intensity and feeling.
Leaving me ultimately bereft, so deep did this burrow down into the marrows of my very soul.
The tangled threads of Codi and Parkers love along with the betrayal of everything that Codi imagined mattered to her leaves her a broken shell of a woman.
Parker broke Codi.

 photo tumblr_mjx6s04YtN1s2vhkuo1_500_zps9hmrbbrj.gif

But in doing so he also broke himself hindsight is a total bummer and misery loves company.
In seeking revenge or vengeance in the name of a mother who would have been devastated and ashamed at the men her sons had become, these boys are reaching new lows.
Her boys evolving into Monsters, all in her name.
Heartbreaking, and the last thing this mother would have ever wanted.

 photo Amazing-Black-And-White-Mamas-Boy-Text-Tattoo-On-Mens-Collarbone_zps1mo31osk.jpg

Parker and Rocco have eventually become everything they once despised and looked down on.
The father's sins have ultimately become the sons bringing this whole sorry saga full circle in a macabre dance where the innocent is always the loser and blood is the currency.

 photo giphy_zpsjncslg16.gif

So watching the pile of cards come tumbling down around Parker's ears was a kind of karmic justice.
The struggle he faced pulled between his brother Rocco and his love for a woman he knows does not deserve his hate and wrath was as sweet as it was painful.
And when this whole sorry mess eventually implodes in a dramatic take no prisoners fashion, It was kind of therapeutic to behold the suffering Parker had brought on himself through his own twisted actions.
I was such a proud mama bear watching the way Codi handled herself in the moment and also in the eventual aftermath.
She was strong and courageous such a fighter.
But what was saddest was watching her eyes opened to the cruel world around her.
She had had her naivety and rose coloured specs ripped from her eyes.
And for a while, I wondered how she would fare.
She had gifted her heart away and now was dealing with the fallout of that duplicity.
You expect the person that claims to love you to want to protect that organ with every breath in there body not rob you of your last.

Loved the ending especially that the author didn't gloss over the betrayal suffered here.
It wasn't rushed and played out exactly how it should.
As she can see from the above ramblings this story had such a profound effect on me.
It was so very well written and such an incredibly emotive tale that I could not give it less than its deserved full five stars.
There was so much going on here and even when I wanted to hate certain individuals I couldn't help but also relate.
Haley Jenner has done a great job of humanising what should have been unredeemable.
So bravo lady.
This story has imprinted on me and it will be one I couldn't and wouldn't want to forget.
Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC of "Tangled Love" (Chaotic Rein, #1) of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Finished! This is a love story about finding love through turmoil. The mess this couple goes through is unimaginable. The lust they find with each other is mind blowing. I hurt for the brothers who lost their mom at such an early age. And then to find out the murderer is closer to home. The angst they have endured so many years to finally get their revenge. Ugh! My heart aches for them. I am looking forward to read Rocco’s story.

As usual, the heroine is a virgin and the hero is an experienced manwhore.
His revenge plan with his brother includes killing the heroine, Codi, but he agrees with his brother that he can have some fun before they kill her. So he takes her virginity and falls in love with her along the way. She finds out about the plan and it all goes to hell.
He doesn't come to ask for forgiveness, Oh no! he's too occupied feeling sorry for himself, so Codi goes and tries to fix it, lol, after everything he's done she's the one groveling, not him. AND he sends her back, breaking her heart again.
The writing style was good, it kept me going and the story was interesting. Can't say i hated Codi but sometimes she annoyed the hell out of me.I did hate Parker though, he's my least favorite character in this book.
The 3 stars are for the cover

I am kicking my own ass for taking so long to read this story. Seriously kicking my own ass.

This is one of those books that should be better known. It's the kind of story that had me shouting and ranting, then smiling and swooning, then sobbing & clutching my chest. It's a raw kind of read, the characters felt very real, their story will break your heart and the chemistry will have you squirming in your seat.

On the surface Parker & Codi are the kind of HEA everyone wants for themselves - but what happens when it's all based on a lie. Hearts will be destroyed! I cried really hard in this one & yelled a lot. For me that means it's a great read. I want to FEEL when I read. I want to connect with the characters & feel like I know them. This one gave me that and more.

Angst ☑️
Heat ☑️
Emotions ☑️

I got everything I want! Get it on your TBR today.

Next up I've got book 2 in the series & I must say I'm giddy at the idea of more Rocco!

Unfortunately, i’d read a review that made this book sound like something completely different from what I personally got from it - which was an odd premise that I didn’t believe in, a run-of-the-mill asshole hero, and a 25-year-old virgin heroine who often baffled me with her logic (in other words, a run-of-the-mill heroine for CR).

However, I was very entertained by the heroes’ strategy to seduce the heroine.

His seduction strategy involved:

- being “mysterious” (which he achieved by leaving at odd times during conversations with the heroine and by being creepy and coming back to her place of work numerous times, day after day)

- being an asshole to the heroine, which didn’t really work for him - or rather, not how he wanted it to (he really tried, and he was an asshole, no 2-ways about it, but definitely not an endearing asshole that has so much success with romance readers - I’m leaning more towards a “stupid asshole” type of asshole)

- pretending he’s buying a gift for a girl from the heroine, when actually it was for her all this time (how cute!)

- asking the heroine out on a date at his nightclub, not picking her up, or even waiting for her at the door (you gotta keep being mysterious and an asshole and this achieves both objectives - 2 birds and all)

- asking the heroine out on the same date in his nightclub, being an asshole to her from the start and then promptly leaving her to go to the lower level of his club to dance with a random woman while smiling up at the heroine (which was later explained as him being angry that other men were looking at her on their first date, wearing the dress and shoes he bought her, and lashing out this way. You know. Like adults do.). Also, it’s important to keep in mind that this dude thought he HAD to get her to like him - so all of this behaviour was his “strategy” to getting the heroine to like him enough sleep with him, so he can finally kill her in peace, knowing that he managed to fuck her before because she’s so hot (I’m guessing rape is too much of a hassle for someone ready to kill someone innocent).

And I literally mean his strategy. Every move he made with her was calculated in order to help him achieve his goal of having sex with her. He danced with another woman within minutes of their first date because he wanted her to want him. And he was baffled each time his strategy didn’t work.

This isn’t YA/high-school by the way. The hero is 32.

I’m guessing this was supposed to be funny and exciting because he keeps trying his well thought-out strategy and the heroine doesn’t fall for it (although of course she does). And it was funny - but not for the reasons intended.

And the heroine…gooood damn she was something else. At first I actually hoped I might like her; she seemed confident at first with men, flirting with the hero, even if she blushed a bit, and best of all, she left the date the second she saw him start dancing with another woman within minutes of the start of their first date, saying she doesn’t play games. All good so far - but unfortunately, the authors’ idea of humour and interesting characters is not something I share.

The heroine is, of course, a virgin. 25-year-old virgin. And look, I honestly can say I have nothing against virgins, however old they may be; it’s not like it’s a bad thing, but in romance, it fucking is a bad thing when you go this far. I wouldn’t complain about every virgin I read about, but some, like this one, take it bit too far. If a 17-year old girl is still a virgin, I can believe it easily and I’m fine with it even if I personally prefer a more experienced heroine; but give me a 25-year-old virgin and I feel like breaking my iPad.

When the overwhelming majority of heroines are virgins even if they’re 30 and often it’s because they just weren’t that into any men before the hero or some other weak reason that becomes null because they always have sex with the hero within days, or occasionally, weeks (and the hero, who is just as overwhelmingly portrayed as a manwhore, or at the very least a normal person with a decent sex life) well, when that happens, I’m seeing some incredibly misogynystic ideals being portrayed by - mostly - women and read by - mostly - women.

And even without the misogyny aspect, it’s boring. I didn’t used to have this reaction a few years ago when I started reading romance. I started having it after reading countless books that feature virgins of all ages while the heroes are having consistent amazing sex with dozens and hundreds of partners, sometimes even on-page and after meeting and liking the heroine.

I have nothing against those who want to read about virgins; i realise that some like this, as do I (or rather, did) on occasion and there’s nothing wrong with wanting to read a specific trope. But it would be really fucking nice if there was some variety and fewer virgins over 20 that give it up immediately anyway. Or if the double standards weren’t so freaking prevalent.

Ugh. I digress. A lot. Back to the heroine in this book.

She is a virgin with no aspirations in life; she just wants to work a safe job (in retail) and that’s pretty much it in terms of what I’ve learned from what I’ve read. Men aren’t really a priority - she’s done nothing sexual with men - because, and get this, her sister was abused by her boyfriend (or husband). She loved her father, but apparently this man that she didn’t even see abuse her sister first-hand convinced her it’s just not worth the hassle. Also no friends or any particular hobbies mentioned so far. Her virginity is probably her only defining characteristic, because apart from this and the shyness that came with it, there was nothing else to form some distinguishable personality.

So no sexual interaction with a man before the hero, who she gave into very quickly especially for someone who held out this long, because even if she doesn’t know the details, she saw how unhappy the sister was because of the boyfriend. Really…just, no. Maybe if she would’ve resisted the hero incessantly or had an abusive father as well, then yes, but considering she slept with him within a few weeks and a couple of dates (after waking up with him already touching her, while she was sleeping in her home which he broke into - and no, of course, there wasn’t even a discussion about it) it’s a little difficult for me to buy her reason.

She also gets very panicked when in a sexual situation with the hero:

- the first time they were making out, she head butted him hard in the nose and kicked him in the balls even worse, then ran out of his home without even taking her phone/purse with her. I’m guessing this was supposed to be cute and humorous.

It was not.

- the second time something happens between them, they’re in his club again, she tells him she’s going to the bathroom and leaves because, of course, she’s scared he’s gonna want to have sex with her. She’s just such a cute and quirky little virgin! Too panicked for words and scared of dicks.

Every man who saw her wanted her so, logically, I’m going to assume some men also pursued her over the course of her life, and she just never liked a guy enough to at least go on a date, or fool around a little, at least get some licking and sucking going on if no penetration?

But of course, she needs to be pure and untouched so that the hero will see, once again, that she is a good person. Because, naturally, not having sex or sucking a dick makes you a good person.

Don’t look at me like that.

It does!

Considering all of her life seemed to revolve around her job and talking with her sister, I don’t see how she’d even have the opportunity to do anything “bad”.

What I got from it is not a “good girl” so much as a boring girl with no personality.

Oh, and the hero is POS with no balls who also gave a strong impression of stupidity. A hero who, at 42%, thinks this as licking the heroine:

“And in that singular moment, I consider that I need to find a way to cleanse my soul and gain access to her heaven, only to be able to claim her back after I’ve taken her life.”

How sweet!

I’d hoped his desire to kill would be the product of recent trauma, which would make it more believable - but he and his brother had sat on this vengeance for years and that’s all they could come up with? I mean, come on, they could’ve come up with something better after so many years (if I remember correctly, the hero was 14 when the mother died, and 32 in the present). So 18 years they’ve sat on this, hating the man they thought responsible for their mothers’ death until they decided to act by killing one of his daughters. Maybe there was more to the plan that was revealed later, but who knows.

And just a curiosity - maybe it’s explained later in the book - but why never consider killing her sister if he wanted the heroine so much? She’s the same man’s daughter, which was the goal after all…Still achieves the goal, but at least he got more sex out of it. And less of a chance of being caught too, considering everyone in the heroines’ life except for her father - i.e., her sister and a coworker she doesn’t like (yes, that is the extent of her life) - knew she was with him and have seen or heard of him acting in dubious ways.

Who knows, with his impressive seduction skills it would’ve been the perfect opportunity for some sex: console the sad girl in mourning and “help her forget”.

And to make matters even worse, I read in a review that it’s the heroine that chases him after finding out about him wanting to kill her. I mean honestly, the best part of an asshole hero book is the grovel - I’m so confused by the many books who have the heroine grovel instead of the hero who was the actual asshole.

This didn't work for me so I'm tapping out.

The prologue set an amazing tone for this book. It was emotional and gritty.

Then we fast forward to where the brothers are out for revenge. For me execution is everything and here it is lacking.

Parker's push & pull got on my nerves and then the whopper of Codi being a 25 year old virgin insert *eyeroll* here was just too much.

Codi went from a strong independent woman to a giggling imbecile after she had sex.

Maybe it was the fact that I'd read a similar plot line and it had an intensity and rawness that overshadows this book.

Maybe it was because the emotions that were meant to be conveyed weren't subtle but like a sledgehammer that ruined it.

Whatever it was and most likely all of the above the writing is good but it isn't for me.

Fact is that Haley Jenner is a new author to me and I definitely will read her stuff again. I give 10 out of 5 stars for Parker and Codi their love story is so well and beautiful written the dialogue between the two characters is brilliant entertaining and so much fun to read that I was glued to every word.Parker is hot as hell very direct and goes for what he wants and that’s Codi even for the reason he seeks her out in the first place he’s still all I’m searching in a romance hero.He is so fucking cute that he’s now one of my fav H’s ever list. Fact no 2 is that Codi is the best strongest no taking any shit from the H,heroine ever.Shes out front honest natural and has a big heart I totally get why he fells hard for her.Codi is just fun to be around her she’s cute sexy but not naive or a doormat. She reacts like a normal women her age in love and it’s so funny how she fells for him considering she’s a virgin with no experience. I would say this is the best written book virgin meets dark sexy and experienced bad boy cause she has him by his balls through the whole book. The chemistry between them is there like you can see and feel it it’s real and that’s why I accepted her forgiveness toward him for what he intend to do at the beginning. The best written book this year IMO. There is no cheating no OW/OM drama just pure love love love love 💕and absolutely worth a reread 🤗

I've been binge reading this author over the last few days but this one definitely wasn't it
Fuck you Parker!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Full review to come

*******
As children Parker and his brother Rocco lost their mother to murder, on the day of her funeral the brothers overheard their uncle name the man responsible for her death as Dominic Rein. From there their need for vengeance was born. The brothers endured years of abuse by their father and then after his death their uncle, hardening their hearts, mind and resolve that Dominic Rein must pay for the end of their happy family life. They want him to hurt just as much as they did, this a plan was hatched..... Dominic's youngest daughter would be murdered after all she wss the light of the family. Parker sets out to learn her movements but after meeting her he decides to have his fun before killing her, the last thing he expected was to fall for her.

Codi Rein is the younger daughter to Dominic Rein, she's grown up with an alcoholic, bitter and hateful mother but a father that adored her and her sister. Seeing her sister burned has caused her to be wary of love and relationships but from the moment of her first encounter with Parker she's drawn to him. She took a chance on him and it blew up in her face, long held secrets are revealed and people are hurt as her supposed love story is shattered

********
1) You're telling me that these grown men, successful business owners never once questioned what they overheard as children? The police investigated Dominic and no evidence was found but they built a plan of revenge and Murder based on the word of their uncle? The same uncle who abused them and beat his wife mercilessly whenever the mood struck? Not once did they say hmmmmm well let's get someone independent to do a little digging because we KNOW our uncle is a pos? Seriously 18 years???????

2)Parker was rude, crude and disgusting. The way he spoke to the h made my blood boil. He was a childish temper tantrum throwing fool and I hated him!

3)This girl ignored so many red flags to run behind this fool I'm embarrassed we share the same gender.

4) Imagine going out with a man, first date I believe and he leaves you to go let some chick rub up on him for his own reasons? And you just take him back? Over and over he says and does things that should've made her take a giant step back but nope this one powered through. Down to the bitter end when all the secrets have been revealed SHE goes to HIM!!!!!! He lied and decieved her but she's convinced to go to him and give him a chance......and he says no 😂 . This chick needed to find her backbone badly, I mean seriously girlllllllll he planned to KILL you!!!!!! Unalive you permanently!!!!!!!!!!!! He should've been the one crawling to you on his elbows!!!!!

5)I get that Parker and Rocco had been through some shit but that doesn't excuse their behaviour.

6)I hate Parker so much

7)Best person in this book was Dominic, how cool would it have been if both their spies were killed off and he ended up with Mira 😔 unfortunately that's not what happened

8) I think Parker was from the bad KA era, the one where the mmcs weren't required to speak much, where they weren't required to explain their actions, where women are bitches who drop to their knees at the wink of an eye, where there was no need for complete sentences when speaking, where a good fuck and some Alpha behaviour would be enough to have the FMC swooning and hooked on his cock......that was Parker and I despised him

9) After all that I endured the author decided to reward Parker with a sweet, clumsy, sunshiny VIRGIN !!!! #hulksmash

All in all I've enjoyed quite a few of this authors books and I'm currently reading book 2 of this but Parker ruined this book for me

No cheating

Thoughts while reading
Ughhhhhhhh

Bitches that ignore red flags annoy me endlessly, I want to say she's just naïve, innocent but really she's dumb 😭
I think this book was written in the KA era when MMCs couldn't speak in complete sentences.....he sounds rude and unintelligent
Of course she's a virgin
Why's he calling her a bitch in his internal thoughts
Gahhhhhh this girl is the type to get into the white van offering free kittens
Ughhhhhhhh
He's a callous neanderthal

After the death of Parker’s mother when he was just 14 y/o, he and his older brother Rocco overhear their father and uncle discussing the man responsible for her death: Dominic Rein. Eighteen years later, Rocco and Parker finally initiate a plan of revenge to get back at Dominic for the pain they endured. The plan ultimately ends with the death of Codi, Dominic’s youngest daughter, but Parker becomes so taken with her that he asks Rocco for some time to have fun with her before carrying the plan out. Codi ends up being so much more than Parker bargained for though, and he eventually must decide where his loyalty lies: with Rocco and his mother’s memory or Codi.

This is an angsty read, mostly because during Parker and Codi’s relationship, Parker is hot then cold then hot again. He’s so conflicted over his feelings for her that any time he finds himself falling more in love with her, he pushes her away by being an asshole. Codi doesn’t stand for it though and tries to walk away a few times, but Parker just keeps coming back. Fortunately, Codi isn’t a doormat, but she is a very forgiving person, and that always works in Parker’s favor. They’re both complicated characters, and their chemistry was believable and intense.

I’m not giving this book 5 stars for two reasons: first, because the giant final confrontation worked out in such a weird way, that it seemed unrealistic. Especially because one character that has almost no reason to show up does, and it’s quite convenient when that happens. Second reason is because of how often Rocco and Parker used “bitch” in reference to women. I understand they had a difficult childhood, but none of it was caused by women. Their mom and aunt were the only good people in their lives, so their common disrespect for women as a whole made no sense to me.

Safety:

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Wow am I forever grateful to have found this author duo. Y’all know how down bad I was for Virtuous Lies 💀 So I’m slowly making my way through their backlist and I am not disappointed.

Parker and his brother Rocco lost their mother at a young age cruelly. They believe to avenge her they have to take something from the party responsible.. an eye for an eye.. Codi, sweet, flirty, naive, charming Codi gets caught in the crossfire of a war she has no idea about. Parker’s only mission was to use her for information but the second she smiles at him he was a lost cause.

Watching these two fall for each was the most beautiful and heart wrenching. Codi has been rasied a bit naive & sheltered, sure. She loves loudly, proudly and falls fast (relatable). Her character was so freaking endearing even though she was lost as to Parker’s motives I never found her annoying. I understand why she fell for him red flags be dammed. It’s so easy to love someone broken. As much as Parker tried not to fall for her it was inevitable. She brought a light to his darkness he didn’t know he needed. So what do you do when you have to choose between love of your life and love of family?

I dont want to spoil anything because I did go in blind and I honestly didn’t see the end result coming my predictions were so wrong 💀 and what a tangled web it was. The writing was a great I just had to get use to the verbiage at first because they speak as if they’re bikers? still not sure why but whatever I love him & Codi I loved this sm + it got me out of a slump so God bless!

I didn’t find this very dark but as always check your TW & enjoy 🫶🏾

Parker Shay is dark. Anger and loss ricochet from his demeanor. I like that I can make him smile.

I’ve got no idea what I’ve tangled myself into, but I know it’s chaotic; twisted and weaved in a way that might be impossible to ever crawl out of, but right now, I don’t want to.

The greatest betrayal, Codi gave me her heart and I took it.

I’m dealing with my own desperation, in sorrow, in regret, in fucking heartbreak.

My love for Codi Rein has forced away the one single person in life who fought for me harder than I fought for myself. Worse part is, I can’t even regret it, because it’s the right fucking thing to do.

Our feelings are a disaster. Twisted and pulled in every direction by fear and need. By intimacy and hate. By loyalty and devotion.

I was planning for our future while he was planning my funeral. I saw marriage and kids and he saw my death as his peace. I fell in love while he was still lost in hate.

Codi Rein may have started as a means to an end, but that was lost the moment I laid eyes on her.

Revenge. How far would you go for vengeance? Parker and Rocco live through unimaginable pain. The loss of their mother. A father who beats them. Once they find out who was behind their mother's death they decide revenge would be theirs. An eye for an eye. Take away everything the man loves, then finish him. Stage one. His daughter. Parker starts following the daughter of the man who killed his mom. He wants to mess with her and then kill her. What happens when you aren't thoroughly consumed in the dark like you originally thought? What happens when you develop feelings for your target?

Parker is dark. He makes no excuses for that, at all. He's dangerous, but somewhere deep inside he still holds on to humanity. Codi is an innocent, naive, woman. She notices Parker's darkness and the danger radiating from him but also feels safe with him. After a few, funny, mishaps their relationship takes off. It's more than either one is prepared for.

Haley Jenner keeps you entranced within this dark world. The characters are such a compliment to light and dark. I honestly had no idea what would happen. Rocco was a wild card for me. I'm thinking everything will be ok one second and then bam, I'm worried it won't be ok. Secrets revealed. Feelings on show. Heartbreak. Love. Loss. Tangled Love will keep you on your toes while you watch light and dark come together.

"Good god, the man is menace personified. Storming eyes, inked skin, and ripped muscles."

At first, I was pulled in by the tragedy and dark undertones, then it swiftly became (at least on the surface) a sweeter fall by a bad boy. Parker's war within himself between that fall and the need for revenge was purely intoxicating. I inhaled the story and loved it!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!

Edge of Your Seat...

Holy smokes, Haley Jenner is trying to give her readers an angst attack with this book! I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the blurb and what I got was fantastic.

We are instantly introduced to Parker and Rocco when they were young boys and what happened to them . A situation that has stuck in thier minds for years and has manifested in a plan of revenge. Now in thier thirties, they are finally ready to seek that revenge.

"Codi Rein will be thier penance. I'll rob her from them, they way they took her from me and I'll show them what real pain is."

Codi is nothing but a pawn in a sick game between her family and the brothers. She is an innocent, in all ways. Sheltered by her father, at twenty five she's yet to meet the man of her dreams, until Parker comes barging into her life.

Not a fan of insta-love, there was something about Parker and Codi that I liked and let this one slide. He was that gruff guy on the outside, with that teddy bear interior that I just love. I couldn't tell if he was mafia or MC with the way Haley Jenner had him talking. There were a couple of references to Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy, so I just pictured him like that.

"He may not feel safe, but all I can yield is that he feels right."

Along with Parker and Codi, we are also dealing with Rocco and Codi's sister Camryn, as well as the family mess they are all involved in. It's almost like a romance whodunit. Page after page I was waiting for that other shoe to drop and see who was left standing. Very intense.

The book is well written and I absolutely loved Parker and Rocco's dynamic. Both of them tough on the outside and mush on the inside. Hopefully Camryn and Rocco are going to try this dating thing in the next book. Now there's two people with some heavy baggage.

So Tangled Love is my first read by Haley Jenner, and omg did I love it! The angst will keep you glued to the pages and the hotness will have you needing a cold shower.
Parker and Rocco Shay are out for revenge, their mother was murdered when they were just teenagers and now it’s time for someone to pay. Codi Rein is their target.
Codi is innocent and sometimes a little naïve and not at all what Parker Shay was expecting.
I loved Codi, she’s the type of girl anyone could be friends with and guys love.
Parker Shay is everything I love in a bad boy, dark and a little broken. And I think he is absolutely perfect for Codi. And a little too dependent on Rocco.
Parker and Codi don’t have anything close to a normal romance, theirs a dark and forbidden kind that fate throws at them.
Needless to say, Haley Jenner has made a fan out of this girl. Give me a dark, hot and angsty read and I’ll be a fan for life. Loved this book, loved the characters and absolutely loved the whole story.

I can’t even with this one. I wish I could give it 100 stars. Once again Haley Jenner absolutely blew me away. I have yet to read a book from her that doesn’t make me laugh, cry, and just want to crawl inside the characters.

Codi could be every girl’s best friend. And Parker is every girl’s fantasy and the man every guy wants to be. Their chemistry is off the charts. The “tangle” of emotions is so real. And the plot twists you don’t see coming....I just can’t even.

The talent that oozes from Haley Jenner is massive. The angst, the love, the hate, the everything is just so realistic. Every book gets better and better. Can’t wait to see what we’ll get next!!

This is a new author to me and one I will definitely be reading more from. I loved this book and found her writing style well structured and a joy to read.

Tangled Love is a story of two brothers, Rocco and Parker, who's lives have been marred by the murder of their mother during their teen years that leads to them spending their formative years plotting to avenge her death. They have a close bond that sees the younger brother quite dependant on his older sibling. Rocco is the darker of the brothers and quite brash, while in Parker we see their is a softer side that he just needs the right person to nurture.

Codi Rein is the planned target of the brothers revenge. However, things don't go to plan as Parker starts to interact with Codi and she is everything he isn't expecting. Codi is a great character, she is quite naive on some levels yet she is spunky and can hold her own when she has to. Their connection is undeniable and the chemistry between them is off the charts.

What we get is a tangled love story of two opposites colliding in a way that is forbidden as their story takes twists you don't see coming and keeps you on edge.

A brilliant dark angsty read and I'm already looking forward to the next book in this series. Ms Jenner is definitely an author to watch out for.

Seriously from word 1 in this book I could not get enough. By the middle of this book I was so invested I slowed my reading down as I didn't want it to end. This epic story will pull at your heart strings and have you second guessing everything.

4.5 stars!!

So my insomnia continued and another Haley Jenner book devoured. This had mob undertones but wasn't centered around a crime family per se. This book was all about revenge and the lengths that two brothers would go to avenge their mothers' horrendous murder. This need had festered for years and years, a plot was hatched, but it's execution didn't take into account the person who was Codi Rein, to them she was a faceless name, but she had so much more to give.

Parker and Rocco were two brothers eaten away by grief with an incessant need for revenge. Their plot was to kill the daughter of the gang boss that took their mothers' life. Let him feel the same pain, the pain that you could only get by loving someone so much. Death for him wouldn't have been enough, he needed to suffer. He hated his wife, that was obvious, but he had a special connection to one of his daughters and so she became their intended target.

Parker was sent out to scope their victim, and that was the end of that. These two had instant chemistry and Parker tried in vain to keep her at bay, but she was like a siren. These two were amazing together, seriously, I felt it between the pages and now Parker is caught between the love of his life and the love of a brother.

Another book I loved from this writing duo, the characters were fantastic, the plot flowed at great speed and was unputdownable. I devoured this in the early hours of the morning and couldn't stop until I'd finished, despite my drooping eyelids. Action-packed, this book had everything and while I had an inkling about one of the plot lines (not whodunnit), the who it was, I never saw coming. Another fantastic read. I think I've found another author to add to my favourites list.

This book is a superb, brilliantly written and remarkable story. The characters are just swoon worthy with all their possessiveness over revenge and love; the rivalry that occurs between the two brothers is executed so well in the storyline. There is loss that engulfs your heart and the angst that is captured in the tales of revenge and hatred that makes this book an EPIC read.

The chemistry of Parker and Codi is two-fold, one of hatred and one of innocence. The driving force of their pull for one another is not your standard love story. These characters are just perfect. They hate, they love, they have circumstances that are pulling them apart in the most dangerous of games but how can you love someone that has so much horrible, gut-wrenching history against you?

Their passion is dripping off the pages. I love their insecurities hidden behind their brave exteriors, this is what makes them raw and real.

This is my first book by these two talented Aussie ladies and I highly recommend it to everyone.

So I finished Tangled Love last night and what can I say. It was sooooo freaking good. Parker is a dominant intimidating man and I love that about him. Codi is a sweet natured somewhat naïve woman and while I usually wouldn't like a character like her I loved her. Haley Jenner has a way of creating a female character who may be naïve and a bit insecure but strong minded none the less, and that is why I loved her. Even though Codi was naïve she wasn't weak at all. She stood her ground and stuck up for herself.

"Your smile. That one was fake. Don't smile at me like that. I only want our real ones."

I don't say this often because I truly don't feel it often but there's a difference between being an amazing writer and having the talent of having a way with words. If you're lucky you can achieve both. In my opinion Haley Jenner has achieved both. I truly am so addicted to their words I get wrapped up in them.

"People think a proposal should be a huge fuckin' deal; flowers and champagne, me on one knee. I disagree, what we just shared, that's as intimate and as emotional as anyone can gt. Lost in one another the way I'm lost in you.".

This is the first book in the Chaotic Rein series and Haley Jenner set us up with some kickass secondary characters. Parkers brother Rocco who I LOVEEEEEE and Codi's sister Camryn who has many secrets but I have a feeling she's going to be badass. I can't wait for the next book in this series!

Omg I loved this!!!!!

First book in AGES where I couldn't put it down!

It's hot, it's cute it's romantic and suspenseful! (And 100% safe)

This story is about Codi and Parker. Parker is out for revenge, but of course he falls for Codi.

Just saying, I LOVED Codi! It's very rare in books I find authors can create distinct personalities. But it was done very well here!!!

I loved how much Parker loved Codi and how crazy he was about it in the end.

It was and is kind of a 5 star read for me ... And this might be a slight spoiler but. In the end after everything blows up the author took the direction where the H thinks he doesn't deserve her and so leaves her alon and she comes to him.

Now this has ALWAYS been done so badly in my opinion, but here I understood it. But I guess I wanted it that HE fights for her. He does gonto her in the end but I think I would've LOVEDDDDDD 5++++ the book if he fought for her.

Usually I'd give it lower if this is the ending that he h goes to the H after he messed up but here I understood it completely I just wish otherwise ;)

Definitely recommend this book!!!

Haley Jenner writes about a tortured hero you can't help but fall in love with.
Parker Shay is everything I love in a broken hero. He makes no apologies for being an asshole, but you see past it because you can tell that when he loves, he loves hard.
Unfortunately there aren't too many people in his life he gets to share his hidden, but big heart with.
This story is full of twists and turns, keeping you on the edge of your seat hoping to hell he and Codi get the happy ending they so deserve.
If you're looking for a book that will keep you captivated until the last page, this is it.
Well done, ladies.
I cannot wait for Rocco's story.

This is my first Haley Jenner story and I really loved it. It is a dark and suspenseful read. The Shay brothers are on a mission and Codi is about to get in the way.

Parker and Codi have instant heat that jumps right off the pages of this story. So much so that it ends up changing the dynamics of Parker and Rocco's plan.

Codi is a great character all on her own, but with Parker, she is even better. Again I enjoyed this dark story and can't wait for Rocco's story. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy for my honest review.

I finished this book last night, and I’m still a little speechless. Well, anyone who knows me knows I’m never truly speechless, but I’m trying to find the right words. Haley Jenner deserve all the best words I can write. I’ve never read books by two people that have had a flow to them as well as theirs. You can’t tell who writes what. I’ve read books before where two authors have written together and I could always tell which one wrote each chapter...you can’t with these two. I swear, they are the same person.
I don’t even know where to start with this book. Parker is everything you could want/need in a male character. He is loyal to his brother and wants to help find them both revenge and redemption. He wants to give his brother and himself peace. He thinks he can handle it...he can’t. He is hard, soft, cold, warm, dark, and light. He is pulled and twisted in different directions, he tries to do what’s right while breaking his own heart. You can’t help but love him.

“And before he knew it, he was lost, tangled and caught on the thorns of our beautiful disaster just as much as I was.”
“He’s stoic and morose. But behind the walls he seems to so heavily reinforce, I saw something more. Someone altruistic. Someone loving, if only in his specific way. It was there. I wanted more of it.”

Codi is strong and loves with everything in her. She’s willing to put herself out there and doesn’t regret it. She doesn’t play games and knows what she wants. Codi acknowledges the darkness in people but refuses to let that shut out their light. She brings that light out, because she truly sees their souls.

“Beauty, real beauty, the untouchable kind, it’s rare. Manufactured for consumers, sure, marketing assholes trying in vain to recreate the unrivaled beauty of someone like her.”
“It’s actually frightening how the thoughts in your mind can elicit such powerful physical reactions in your body. People regularly claim they’re ruled by their heart. But I disagree. The mind is so dominating, so consuming. In reality, that overwhelming need in your heart, that burning desire you can’t ignore, they’re all powered by the driving thoughts in your head. In your unforgiving and relentless mind.”

My heart hurt, smiled, broke into shattered tiny pieces, weeped, and molded back together. I LOVED this book. The story has been told before, but never close to the way it’s told this time. I can honestly say, this book is in my top 5....EVER! I’m pretty sure I highlighted more in this book than any other book before.
“It’s not possible,” my voice cracks over the tortured whisper. “How can you despise someone whose love makes you feel so complete, you couldn’t imagine ever finding happiness without them? How can you hate someone when they’re your reason for breathing? The reason that you want to get out of bed in the morning. The reason you smile. The reason you laugh. The reason you wanna live when your life is falling apart around you.”

I love that it says Chatoic Rein #1 because I definitely need more. I loved the side characters and need more Reins and Shays in my life.
Don’t hesitate, buy this book...like yesterday!
