And against all that is pure and noble, they fell in love.

Warning: This is not one of those novels where the characters' actions are justified. It is merely a story about two people--two flawed humans--who fall in love under forbidden circumstances. It is intended for audiences 18+ years of age due to exp

It's not even for the cheating because it's common knowledge here. But because if I wanted realism (because let's be real, this happens A LOT in real life) I would talk to people I know. Just look in the news how many times the plot in this book happens. The very president is being accused of it.

This book is about two people falling in love when they aren’t necessarily looking for love. There is cheating in this book, and whether or not you can handle that... is up to you, but I feel like R.C. Martin does a fantastic job of not making excuses for these characters. No one becomes a villain to make the events in this story ok. You know they are flawed, you know they are making poor choices, but if you can accept a love story for what it is, all flaws and mistakes included, then I think yo ...more

“There is a comfort here that I don’t feel in my own bed. In the silence of morning, without a word spoken, without a touch given, in this stillness that only exists as one shakes off sleep, there is a sense of security that insists that I stay. That here I am safe. Here I am free. Here I am home.”

Earlier on this year I discovered RC Martin when she was recommended to me by a friend! Her book Guarded was amazing and I knew I had found an author who I would add to my one click list.

Heartless was passionate, sexy, sultry and romantic! I loved the characters and their personalities, they were all written so well! I loved the theme of the story itself, the forbidden, lust, love and stolen moments.

Recommend to anyone in the mood for a suspenseful romantic story of forbidden love!!

I've never hated to love a book as much as this one! RC Martin tackles a taboo many think is too taboo to read. But I LOVED this story!!

Michael is not your typical hero, but try as you might to not like him for the choice he makes, you will love him for what is truly inside.
Blaine is not a weak woman who falls for Michael's money and power. She is just a woman who opens her heart to a man.

Love or hate the theme of the story, you will FEEL so much while reading this book. Sometimes it will be un

*** ARC provided by the author for an honest review ***

What do you do when you fall in love with another person, but you are already in a relationship? RC Martin gives one interpretation of this in Heartless. Michael and Blaine must come to terms with their current relationships and their love.

Michael is governor of Colorado. Middle child of his parents, he has been happily married for sixteen years. Things aren’t all perfect, but that is the way that life is. He is looking to move forward in hi

a lot of readers have a hard limit with cheating in their books and that's fine but i don't. this situation in real life and my love of romanctic fiction is separate so i have no problems reaching for this type of book because it can add a layer of hurt and angst that tbh sometimes i just live for. this was not overly angsty but definitely addictive. i loved our hero and heroine regardless of their indiscretions. i rooted for them wholeheartedly whilst knowing their relationship was wrong. ficti ...more
For those familiar with my reviews, you will know that I am quite enamoured with RC Martin- since I lucked into the first novella of hers I read, her books have challenged, enlightened and entertained me. All that being said, I knew this one would be heavy on the challenge part - but I didn't doubt that she would succeed. And she did. Your warning now, it is not easy to read in places - doubly hard for me as the hero's occupation is not one of my favorites- but she has pulled it off with class a ...more

A romance novel where the heroine is the other woman and the hero is a married man.

I couldn’t get over what a selfish asshat the hero was to ever root for them as a couple.

He’s been with his wife for 20 years (married for 15) when he meets cute waitress Blaine (heroine) and starts an affair with her.

His marriage with his wife is distant after 20 years but not so terrible that I could forgive him for not fighting harder for his marriage. Actually, he didn’t fight at all. Temptation presented it

The writing was good but I never really warmed up to either MC. They should have suffer more when the whole thing came crashing down. Instead, it all was nicely 'resolved' as ideal as possible.

Oh Wow, what did I just read?? This book is the epitome of going after what you crave, even though you know it's so wrong on every level. This story had me thinking, like really thinking about the double standards of us humans and how the heart is a self-sufficient, carefree organ, with this ability to control the mind at its whim.
I was eagerly waiting to have this gem in my hands, since the author frequently mentioned the fact that this story was her ambitious project and something out of her c

I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.

This is one of the most difficult reviews that I ever had to write. Because this story did so much to me, it was such an emotional story and I really want to do it justice with my review. But I must confess that I don’t know if I can do that. I don’t know if I can find the right words to honor it. But I will try my best and hope that I can express my emotions into words.

First, I will start by telling you that ‘Heartl
I am at a total loss of what to write. I read the book cover to cover and I immediately wanted to read it again. I absolutely loved it. I loved the characters flaws and all. The writing was impeccable. I was held captive chapter to chapter. Wanting more. Craving more.

Yes, this is a forbidden romance between Michael a married 37-year-old Governor and Blaine a 24-year-old college educated bartender, who is also in a relationship, that works at an upscale bar and restaurant where they met. This is

It has taken me a while to get my thoughts and feelings on this book together - as this is a hard review - and I’m not sure if I can do it justice.

“Was that so unexplainably amazing because we shouldn’t have done it? Or because we should have? “

First I must say that as a reader you must keep an open mind as this isn’t your typical love story. Yes it involves cheating but it is so much more. The author allows you to feel not only the guilt of the characters but all of their feelings and thoughts

I am so conflicted when it come to my review of this book and not because the writing isn't amazing but because of the theme. I didn't know what the book was about, all I knew is it was not going to be my usual read. I usually stay clear of books about cheating but I love this author so I thought I would give it a go and I was not disappointed.
Despite what they do you can not help but love the characters and want to see them happy. Michael is the type of guy you only ever hope to meet except he

OK let me first say that as much as I love this author I just knew deep in my heart this would be the first book I gave her an utter fail on. I mean come on, she warns us up front that cheating is in it and I HATE cheaters. Then I started reading. The more I read the more I loved it. The story is done so well as you move from emotion to emotion and yup them emotions take you from the dark to the light and back again. It wasn't planned. They tried to avoid it. They don't ask for forgiveness and i ...more

I'm very conflicted on how to feel about Heartless so I am pretty much in the middle but over all this story got my emotions all over the place . It was good to see this in both point of views because if we didn't get the heroes perspective I really would have hated him . Michael and Blaine are both in relationships but something missing from each couple when these two meet it's like a breath of fresh air they try to resist the pool but it becomes unbearable and reaches a breaking point that set ...more

Heartless by R.C. Martin is a full-length, standalone, romance novel. Heartless is told in a dual POV.
Heartless tells the story of Michael and Blaine.
Michael Cavanaugh is a married politican, busy and successful.
Blaine Foster is a young woman who is about to find her way in life. These two meet and it is like a force of nature, the outcome is unavoidable.
Before I started reading I was torn, I despise cheating . And now Im so happy that I read this book. I started reading and was hooked very soon

"He was faithful, until he wasn’t.

This is the only description that I will give as it's perfect since it came from the author. I was very conflicted when I read the blurb, because normally, this isn't the kind of book that I would enjoy, but I gave it a chance since the brilliant R.C. Martin wrote it, and I'm glad that I did. See, Heartless, was more like reality, since it was story of flawed people who

Heartless is completely outside the box of RC Martin books. I was intrigued the moment I heard it was not her usual style. I love her usual style but Heartless is the absolute best. Way to go Ms. Martin for opening my mind to such forbidden thoughts. The grittiness and rawness of it will pull you in and the words will keep your attention even when you feel you shouldn’t continue. Love knows no boundaries or limits and this story proves it. Review willingly being left on behalf of Reading Through Her Eyes

What happens when you meet someone by pure chance, someone who's totally forbidden to you?

Overall Thoughts: This book does contain the topic of cheating, so if that's something you don't like then this book isn't for you. I don't condone cheating, however I don't mind reading about it as it is a real life thing that does happen. This book will take you on an emotional roller coaster, you will be left feeling conflicted by Michael.

5 freakin plus stars... awesome read..

I am blown away by the absolute brilliance of this book. I was hooked from the beginning and I’m so glad to add RC Martin to my list of new talent that I have discovered.

The taboo subject of a forbidden affair is not at all what it seems. You fall in love with the hero and heroine in this story. They were both going on about their journey until life happens to bring them in unforeseen circumstances but the slow burn that you get is the best high.

Wow, this is one of those stories which just blow you away from the onset, and remains when finished. In my opinion this story is worth so much more than the 5 stars allowed! This is the story of Michael and Blaine, who had an instant chemistry between them from the very beginning. They both knew that the relationship they had was unacceptable and taboo, however, they are consenting adults. This story has is all, emotion, hate, love, suspense, heartbreak, which all lead to a gritty, raw and powe ...more

There’s a place where your mind can escape, your body can find rest, and your heart can soar – and R.C. Martin wants to take you there.

R.C.'s journey into the world of indie-publishing began like so many of her peers – with a big dream and a basket full of rejection. Confident that she’d one day pen a book someone would say yes to, she spent years crafting stories which became the foundation of h
