The Tides of Change , previously published as Platinum , explores the glamorous world of the super-wealthy in all its excess. From Moscow to Marrakesh, and Los Angeles to London, the reach of the super-elite stretches far and wide. Within this glamorous world where wealth means everything, three women are brought together . . . Frankie Willis, who fled her home in South Africa for a new life working in the Caribbean as a stewardess on the luxury mega-yacht, Pushkin ; Peaches Gold who has established herself as the most influential madam in the city of angels, Los Angeles, and holds many secrets on the city's famous inhabitants; and Emma Harvey, the English socialite whose respectable married life hides a much darker past. Hailing from very different worlds, they have every reason to distrust each other when their lives unexpectedly collide, but their hatred for one man will unite them forever. That man is Yuri Khordinsky, a newcomer to the ranks of the world's super-rich who desperately craves acceptance in high society and will stop at nothing to get it . . .
I gave this a 3.5/5 stars or 7/10. It was a random choice picked up from my local Library.
This lengthy 555 page story is a proper saga spanning several years. It's very reminiscent of the type of stories that I remember in the 80's, I am thinking of Lace and the many others that were similar. Full of secrets, sex, glamour, drama, money and revenge, it will certainly keep you entertained for a good few hours.
The story follows the lives of three women from different backgrounds, whose lives will all collide at some point. They have one man in common and they all need revenge for different reasons, that man is Yuri Khordinsky a very wealthy self made man. To find out why they all crave the need for revenge, you will have to grab a copy for yourself.
It's a well written story and as Joanna Rees has written quite a few other books, I will be looking out for some of her other work in due course.
A tale of adventure, mystery, sex, love, passion and murder all fuelled by extreme wealth and a lot of highly fortunate encounters (which don't seem to happen in my real life but hey they might do for some people).
Three strong, independent, attractive together women from across the world find themselves connected by one common enemy. The story unfolds on how they find strength in their sisterhood of shared pain, albeit 3 completely different types of pain and how they all want 'him' to pay for what he has done. The question is how can they succeed when he is one of the richest and most powerful men in the world.
Some current trends feature in the book, such as Russian oligarchs, sustainable living, mining for lithuim types for electric batteries, and the falseness of Hollywood all woven into the story well by the author.
An enjoyable and easy read.... It gained a 4th star purely for the sex scenes, which were tastefully written.
This was an amazing book. Well written & thought out. I loved it. Can't write anymore, at present, because this box is covered by the key pad, so can't see what I'm writing.
