This is going to be a short review because the book was a short novella! Trouble With Gold was cute and fun, getting me in the mood for the Winter Olympics (opening in 3 weeks!), but it was not without its faults.

Occurring over the space of the games, Nadia accidentally stumbles across snowboarder Ty, handcuffed in only his boxers and boots as part of an initiation. He immediately drawn to her, especially since she is so in control. It was pretty stereotypical in this regard: Ty is American and

Can you say, insta-love? Even if you take that aspect out of it, there was so much in this relatively short, Olympic-themed novella that either just didn't make sense or was just flat-out improbable. I wanted to like it--time to get pumped for the Olympics, everyone!--but just didn't.

Rating: 1 star / D

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Ty Madsen experiencing the chance of a lifetime. Of course that experience doesn’t start off too well. Nadia Hoffman comes upon the strangest sight. This is a story that will get you excited about the upcoming Winter Olympics. It reminded me how as a family we would watch the games together from the start of the opening ceremonies to the end of the closing ceremonies.

Some of you may remember the buzz around what went on with Ryan Lochte. We don’t see that trouble here but it doe

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this little story. It is short – listed at coming in under 100 pages – so it does have that whole insta-love thing going on and there is an issue or two that could have used a few more pages. BUT, the characters are interesting and their interactions are fun & entertaining.

Ty works hard and plays hard. He understands what a big deal it is that he’s made it to the Olympics but he’s not going to forget to have a good time when he can. Unfortunately that oc

A short story about an Olympic snowboarder and an Olympics volunteer. I can't say I loved it as the characters didn't seem fully developed and just did things that didn't seem in character or realistic, like flirting while freezing or moving from serious to sex outside in one paragraph. As well, a jacuzzi outside the volunteer dorms? Ya right, maybe the athlete dorms. And a lucky torch that shows up in the middle of the story with zero explanation.
