This was interesting, I liked the magical elements. I’m just not a fan of reincarnation.

This book was the definition of romance. How could this story not have plenty of love, with the soulmates theme and the fact that a God, waited for the reincarnation of his lover(that had been killed), for centuries, always being faithful to him and never taking another lover?

Imaginative gay male romance between a young man and an immortal god. The preface didn't make sense until I finished the book.
Typos: apostrophe s plural (photo's), lay/lie mix up, tip for top, capital letter in the middle of a sentence ("Pip moved as if to leave and Let Alex..."), extra word ("all three pleaded admitted it"), their for they're, comma used to end sentence (Life has a way...plans, I wouldn't get your hopes up...). ...more

Hunter is the first book in the Elsewhere series by H J Perry. I really enjoyed this book. The book is well written and nicely edited. The books flow is a little on the slow side, but the characters are well developed and lovable. I loved Pip and the Hunter. The only part that had me scratching my head was when I read that Pip's 18-year-old best friend Alex had shingles which I always thought of as something that older people get. I had a big problem figuring Pip's age. I know that he graduated from H.S. so he was 17-18 but sometimes he felt much younger. He was very young then older than his years. Aunt Lauren tends to treat Pip as a young boy quite often. This made the entire story feel very imbalanced and pulled me out quite a bit.

I'm not exactly sure how I feel about this book. There are elements that are interesting and I liked the idea of fated lovers finding their way back to one another time and time again, but there were a few too many issues for me to just enjoy the story.

I really don't know how to rate this story, it had all the right elements to be a great fantasy, but at the end, I didn't feel engaged in the storyline. It is written only from the POV of Pip so this is a very YA story, full of the typical insecurities, doubts and struggles of newly graduated high schoolers. This wonderful book had a unique dreamlike quality in the places where Hunter and Pip are together and a very anxious, real world setting when Pip was in his normal life. Pip has just graduated high school, literally that day, and has no idea what to do with his life. A sweet story that is well written with wonderful characters. Pip was bullied in school and it got really bad on the night of his graduation when he was left in the woods. The Hunter finds and thus begins their saga together discovering Pip's past lives and how they have been intertwined. Great paranormal story with a new world to discover.

A great MM fantasy. Pip and his Hunter were very engaging characters. I loved how dedicated Hunter was to Pip life after life, always waiting for his live to return to him. I have the feeling that I'm going to love the Elsewhere series, I'm already ready for the next book.

i love fantasy, and this story did not disappoint. pip and hunter are very sexy together. the story has a dream like quality, i felt like i was there watching the story unfold. very well written. i'm a big fan of HJ Perry and would recommend this book/author.

I'm going to be completely honest, I wasn't sure what to expect from this book but decided to give it a try and I was pleasantly surprised. Pip and Hunter are amazing, the story is fairly unique and I can't wait to see how their lives continue.

I really enjoyed this story. Pip has always felt out of place in his life and that something was missing. Hunter has missed his lover for centuries and is happy to have found him again he just hopes he doesn’t want to go back to the world of man again.
